@Kassia <3 Without Nelinha’s help it wouldnt have seemed possible for Daniel to overcome his troubles. It wasnt as much that she did anything else than be there for him. Ready to talk him out of doing something he might regret or simply just listen to him. It had blossomed a nice friendship that Daniel treasured quite dearly. He came around more often and seemed to be the old Daniel before he lost his bestfriend and decided to drown his sorrows in alcohol. He still had bad days and the ups and downs - But today was good. He decided to show up to the apartment without calling first, bringing along some ingredients to make pancakes. Daniel was a man who loved food and he especially loved the kind of food that wasnt good for him in the long run. But that just meant he was about to make some of the best pancakes in the world. He pressed the buzzer and hoped that someone was home, feeling the cold surround him.

It was one of those mornings where Kassia had decided to sleep in. She had been up late because of work, not to mention her boss trying to get her to stay longer. While she needed the money, she wasn’t too keen on staying late and alone with that man. In the end she had walked home, said her goodbye to the boss and headed home. That morning and day she had off, and in her mind she had already decided to sleep in. Nelinha had gone to the institute early, a faint mumble about a group assignment, but Kassia had been in too deep of a sleep to really realise. She was snoozing away, having turned off even her phone in case there was a rogue call from work. What woke her was the small melody that came with the doorbell. Nelinha had finally changed it from that awful holiday song, to something of a cheery melody. Kassia groaned, turning over in her bed, tapping her phone as if it would stop the noise. A bit disgruntled she got out of bed, wearing an oversized t-shirt with an old band logo that was mostly washed away, as well as some small pyjama shorts. Her hair was a mess, but she didn’t really care at this point, walking to the door to unlock it for whomever was ringing their bell, as well as unlocking the apartment door. As she opened and saw Daniel she looked at bit surprised, her mouth open as she felt almost embarrassed. Well almost, because in her mind Nelinha and Daniel were dating, and it was kinda awkward standing in her pyjamas around the werewolf. “Hey, uhhm, come on in - Nelly isn’t home,” she mumbled, stepping aside for the large werewolf.

The buzzing noise made his face light up in a smile as he figured Nelinha would be home which was what he had hoped for, since they usually hung out now when he was doing so well sober. He hurried up the stairs, and the sight that greeted him at the door wasnt exactly disappointing. Sure it wasnt Nelinha, but as little as he had spoken to Kassia, he was quite curious about her. They hadnt gotten to talk as much, so there was always that much more to learn about the human, whose feelings he couldnt seem to sense. "Oh so she did go to the institute? I did think she mentioned some classes," he said as he stepped in with his bag in his hand, just taking off his shoes right away with his jacket before going out into the kitchen. "Are you hungry?" he asked as he unpacked the bag onto the counter. He opened the fridge and grabbed the milk to shake it. Hearing that little bit at the bottom made him sigh, but thankfully he had brought a new one from the shop. "I'm about to make the best pancakes in the world," he warned her as he found pan and everything that he may need.

“Yeah, well she said something about a group project, and I don’t really know when she’ll be home,” she admitted, running a few fingers through her hair to make it split in to her normal parting of it. She followed Daniel to the kitchen, curious as ever to see what he would be up to. Especially carrying that bag. Was he planning something of a romantic surprise for Nelinha? However S he asked if she was hungry, she couldn’t help but frown, placing a hand over her stomach. “Famished, honestly,” she said, chuckling a bit, but she felt a little unsure. Unsure because this was Daniel, a great guy that she believed her sister was dating. Wouldn’t it be weird if she shared a meal with him? Especially one that he had made for them? It felt silly to think about, but she wanted to be nice. Sending him an optimistic smile when he mentioned pancakes. “Mine are probably better than yours,” she teased him slightly. Kassia was far from a good cook, but she did like baking.

“Oh well. We’ll save some for her then. Could be a nice lunch,” he said as he undressed from his warm outwear. He chuckled at her answer and nodded, “Sweet. That’s just what I wanted to hear,” he said with a bright smile. He was in a very chippy mood for once, but he would admit that he woke up this morning feeling pretty good - Which was something he just embraced. Her tease made him look at her with a competetive look. “I accept the challenge,” he just said before finding two bowls. “I’ll make.... one half of the pancakes. You’ll make the other.... and then...” he spoke as he found some more things they needed, handing her one of the bowls, “... I guess we’ll see who made the best,” he finished, flashing his teeth in a charming smile before turning to his bowl. He made a subtle “ta-ta-ta-tah,” noise as he made sure he had everything that he would need. “What makes a girl sleep in on a tuesday? Your day off?” He asked quite interested. Nelinha had mentioned Kassia working here in the southern part and Daniel just sort of noted it when he thought about how tough it could be working in this district. It surely wasnt as hectic as the western was with it’s parties, but this was the place for criminal activity, even if it was miniscule.

Kassia looked at him rather surprised as he seemed to want to take her on in a challenge, his charming smile making her look away just to not get caught up in his eyes as deep as the sea. He was handsome, nothing she could ever deny, but she wasn't really supposed to think like that. She was supposed to just be friendly, and that was what she intended to do. She was usually quite flirty, but it would be like breaking some unseen line if she were to be like that around Daniel. Using her teeth she grabbed the elastic on her wrist, putting her hair up in a quick messy bun to keep it out of her face, however a few strands seemed to not cooperate, flowing by her face and framing it nicely. She grabbed the bowl, flipping it a bit to inspect it before she looked at the ingredients, biting her lower lip as she was thinking. His question seemed to bring her back to reality. "I got off late last night, work down at the Lunar," she said, feeling a little embarrassed to tell where she actually worked. The place wasn't known for it's cuisine, that was for sure. "I have Tuesdays and Thursdays off, usually, so I was planning on sleeping in and ordering take out," she admitted, shrugging as she measured out the dry ingredients. "Usually Nelly doesn't have classes on Tuesdays, so we spend it together, but sometimes her studies are more important," she smiled. Kassia had no real papers, not even a social security number - not one that she knew off - so finding work was hard enough, she didn't even dare think how it would be trying to attend a school. Melting the butter she stood and stared for a while, deep in her thoughts as she swirled the piece around the pan. "How long have you and Nelly been dating now?" she asked suddenly, not really remembering it all too well. Her memory wasn't the greatest, and most things just mixed together in a blur.

"The Lunar... That's an interesting place to work," he remarked, listening as she carried on her explanation. He would have under any other circumstance at this point have been looking through a recipe, but he knew his pancakes by heart. He grabbed a few eggs and scoffed under his breath as he nodded at her words about studies, "That they are," he agreed. But he did wonder whether she had studies of her own, though he had never seen her deal with homework from the few times he had been here. He went to the sink to wash his hands before he would even begin to make the batter. Her question made him crush the egg in his hand in surprise, rather than crack it for the bowl. He blinked a few times before a smile spread on his lips and he shook his head, "I dont think we've been dating at all," he admitted before he looked at Kassia with his eyes slightly narrowed, obviously he wondered what made her think they had been dating, but thinking it through it did make sense. He shrugged, "She's better off with someone else. She has seen me at my absolute worsts in my whole life - And I dont think that has been very fair on her. At least not to me, it's not something I'd want someone I date to see," he then said, frowning a little when he felt like it didnt quite make sense. He threw out the broken egg and removed a few runaway shells before cleaning his hand. He sent Kassia a small smile, though it was clear that he was thinking about something.

Jumping a bit as she was surprised by his sudden egg cracking she looked at his hand. His words made her chuckle, shaking her head a little as a sorry. “I just thought ... I mean since you come over so often and you always Want to make her happy,” she mumbled apologetically. She felt a faint rush of blood to her cheeks, feeling a bit embarrassed as she chose to focus on the butter that was now mostly dissolved. Reaching over, she grabbed a few eggs for her own batter, her hair touching his chin slightly. “Sorry,” she said, a small smile on her lips. He went to wash off and she wondered if she had been too forward. She knew she rarely had a filter, but it was like she was trying to impress the werewolf without fully realising it. “I get that ... When Nelly found me a couple of months back I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to see that,” she said, sending him another smile, however this time a bit softer and saddened. “Either way, I think Nelly’s too busy to be dating anyways,” she chuckled, frowning and shaking her head. It felt weird to discuss someone she considered her sister’s love life. Mostly because it didn’t really concern her. Grabbing a small whisk, she started mixing it all together, making sure not to scramble the eggs on the hot butter. However she moved over to a small cabinet grabbing some vanilla extract. Putting a few droplets in, the hummed to herself, as she considered her options. “Did you buy any blueberries?” She asked, peaking in to one of his bags.

"I guess it did seem like we were dating," he said with a thoughtful expression as he turned the tap for the sink. He shook his head when she apologized and chuckled softly, making sure he washed off all the slimy egg-stuff off his hand. He nodded at her words and realized that it did make sense to her, which was a relief, but her smile made his smile fade a little. He couldnt imagine a happy face like hers to have been through a rough patch in life, but that was the thing about pretty faces - They could hide that pain so well. He decided not to dig into it and instead chuckled when she spoke of Nelly, "You're also forgetting the fact that I'm most definitely a terrible boyfriend, by all accounts," he pointed out and tried once again to crack some eggs, this time her question wasnt a sudden surprise that would cause another egg getting crushed. "Uhhhh, no, sorry. Will strawberries do?" he asked with a trying smile. He started making the batter, glancing at her as she was making hers, "Is blueberries your favorite?" he asked, looking down at his own batter. He grabbed a powdered vanilla which he used in contrary to her use of the extract. "I myself is a sucker for mangooo," he said under his breath as he grabbed a fork to whisk it all around.

"Yeah, I can't really remember the last time I had a committed relationship," she scoffed, but it was more as if it was some weird inside joke to her. Shaking her head, she didn't want to linger on the topic, looking instead inside the bags, sighing as she shook her head. "No, no, Nelly loves blueberries; I'm a rebel because I put chocolate chips in mine," she said, a broad smile flashing to the werewolf. For some reason, speaking about favorites didn't really seem important to her. She liked most things, but she had yet to find anything that she adored or wanted constantly. She couldn't help but giggle as he said he loved mango, shrugging. "I don't think I've had it," she said. It wasn't because she didn't want to, but in the grand scheme of things, money wasn't wasted on exotic fruits in this household. There simply wasn't a penny to spare. "I've heard papaya is great, but what I like most is probably peaches ... I don't know, there's just something about them that reminds me of summer," she said, smiling as she mixed her batter together. She grabbed a handful of chocolate chips, drizzling them in, making small sound effects for everyone going in. "What do you do for a living anyways?" she asked, curious as ever, and she felt like the more she focussed on her cooking, the easier it was to have a normal conversation with him.

“For me, it would have beeeen.... back when I was 18. I was head over heels for this girl.... but she ended up dumping me for this other guy who she went to school with. Quite a bummer,” he said with a soft chuckle at the end, but clearly it wasnt something that was bothering him anymore. He raised his eyebrow when she had asked for blueberries but it didnt seem that they had been for her. “In the batter?” He asked with a slight frown like he wasnt sure what to really feel about it. He looked concerned for a moment but despite her answer, he would smile and shake his head. He didnt find it as weird as he found it interesting. But when she said she hadnt had mango, he gasped softly and looked at her rather shocked. He kept his expression still as he grabbed a bag and lifted up a mango with another gasp, “It’s your lucky day,” he said before he burst out laughing in a heartily manner. But his excitement died when she mentioned peaches, making him place down the bag, “I aint got no peaches though,” he admitted in defeat, returning to his batter with a deepset sigh. Hearing her mix in the chocolate chips drew his attention and he smiled a warm smile. “I’m a boring man. I’m the boss of a construction firm. You know, building houses, malls, all that,” he explained. He had never gotten the opportunity to go to school, but he had always been good with his hands which had been nothing but a help for him the last 8 years of his life. “I wasnt supposed to be promoted, so I guess it’s luck. I choose my own hours and attend meetings and plan hours for my employees,” he explained, finishing his batter as he looked at hers. The chocolate chips made him scoff. “Is that the secret to your best pancakes?” He asked, like he wasnt trying to seem impressed.

"No in your ear," she replied, but her face softened up, chuckling to herself. "Of course in the batter!" she laughed, shaking her head at him. He looked at her as if she was completely crazy, and perhaps she was, but she was going to let him find that out for himself. The conversation seemed to flow rather easily between the two and the human was rather surprised at that fact. Perhaps that was why Nelinha liked the werewolf so much. His gasp at her confession with the mango made her chuckle, however as he pulled the fruit out of the bag, her jaw dropped, reaching over to grab his hand holding it. Pulling his hand closer to her, she closed her eyes, smelling the mango that was in his hand and her lips pulled up in to a warm smile. "It smells awesome! Don't even worry about peaches now; I gotta taste this bad boy!" she said. It was clear she was excited, letting go of his hand to return to her batter. She was almost done mixing in the chocolate chips as he spoke of his line of work. Turning her head, she looked at him, smiling at him. "Honest work I see," she said. However she was quite impressed with how hard he had been working. She wished she had that type of work ethic, but then again, she wasn't sure who she used to be. As he made a comment about the chocolate chips she frowned, raising an eyebrow at him as her competitive side came forward once more. "Just you wait - Once you taste these you'll want to marry me on the spot," she warned him with a ladle. Finding two pans was a surprise to her, but they were roughly the same size. Handing him one, she placed hers on the stove, turning on the heater. Humming to herself she moved her bowl over next to it, swinging the ladle around as if she was a cowboy in an old western movie. "I can't wait," she chuckled, placing a teaspoons worth of butter on her pan, but it was still too cold to just melt. Groaning slightly she just leaned forward, staring at the dollop of butter.

He was a little surprised when she grabbed his hands because usually he’d feel someone’s emotion right away but with her he felt nothing at all. It was actually a little comforting, because he felt like this was how normal people interacted - None of that; Let me scan your emotions and figure out exactly how you feel without you telling me. Her words made him chuckle as he shook his head, “You’re in for a treat. Feel it. It’s soft, so it’s going to be juicy and super sweet,” he warned her with a smile. He found it interesting how mangos could change so much if they werent ripe enough. A hard mango could almost bear a bitter taste to it, while a soft one was generous on the citrus and sweetness in a perfect mix. He wasnt too set on discussing his work, so he kept that simple and informative. When she called it honest work, he shrugged. It hadnt always been for him. He rather wanted to focus on how strange he found the chocolate chips. Her warning just made him laugh as he looked down into his batter, “Dont know if I’m ready for such a commitment. I’m still young and full of life!” he played along, sending her a soft smile. He inspected his pan before placing it on the stove, with just a small amount of butter. He chuckled when she seemed impatient, “Oh so you’ve figured out the secret of death staring butter to a melting point?” He asked teasingly, poking her gently with his elbow before minding his own pan. He pushed the cold butter around, watching it slowly melt till it liquified completely. He poured carefully, not wanting the pancakes to be too thick. He liked those thin tasty pancakes where he could roll them around the fruits or icecream. Oh shit, he widened his eyes when he remembered, “The icecream!” He exclaimed, searching through the bags to pull out a soft tub of vanilla icecream. He made a deepset groan in defeat and felt like a complete idiot. “I had completely forgotten...” he said as he started to snicker instead of getting angry about it. It was just icecream afterall.
