The Coffee Date

What was it with guys and always being in their heads about some girl? She sighed as she packed her the first aid kit away. He went on to compliment her cut, but it felt wrong. She couldn't let it go. "Why don't you wanna be with her if you clearly get thrown off of course just thinking about her?" she asked rather bluntly, but she was not one to beat around the bush. "I've seen guys in love, and you sir look like you got a serious crush on this girl ... So what is stopping you?" she went on, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she looked at the hybrid.
"Does she have an ugly nose? Bad posture? Or is there something wrong with her family?" she asked, because from what she had gathered, he really liked this model girl. It was also weird that he kept not saying her name, like she was just boiled down to being some model. She clearly wasn't only that, not when she saw how his eyes had shifted after that voicemail. "Did she cheat on you or something?"

The blunt questions just made a small smile appear on Xalvador's lips as he looked away and shook his head. There really was just a definite simple answer to her questions. Because of course it wasnt that he didnt like Eliza, because he did. She just dug further in and it was good that he just remained calm because she was definitely pushing for buttons. "She's a great girl with a bright future, alright?" he finally said as he looked at Frankie with a small furrow on his brows, making his already serious expression only that more serious.
"I'm just not that. I dont have a bright future, I'm kinda a criminal and tangled up in so much shit that I wouldnt want her to even get near to," he then explained, getting up as he looked at the wrapping. It really was something to keep the bleeding to a minimum. "It's kinda funny all that's coming from you, the girl who said she had no one, and yet a boy showed up to take care of you when you needed him," he just slung right back at her, rather calmly in tone but he was definitely showing that they both could play that game. "A boyfriend? A not boyfriend-boyfriend?"

"Not having a bright future doesn't mean it can't be happy," she just stated, but as he got up it was clear he was lashing out. She had hit something and it wasn't the knife cut he was hurt about anymore. Then he spoke about that night. Her eyes got bleak, looking away as she went over to pick up the knife he had given her. She was quiet, standing still as she wanted to just leave. Fuck him, right, how dared he just cut so deep. The word boyfriend however made her see red as she turned around. "Do you want me to come crawling to confession and say that I actually love him? Cause I'll fucking do that, alright - but that night I didn't have anyone," she said, not noticing how she was pointing the knife at the hybrid.
"I was trying to protect him from the mess that I am, but sometimes you just gotta give up and give in - and while my past is fucked up, something in me just wanted to try letting myself feel something for someone again," she said, feeling her eyes water, walking closer with the knife as if she was threatening him, but she didn't have any intent to harm him. "And I don't know what him and I are, cause he doesn't want to talk about it, and I'm going to respect that, cause he's ... He's the best thing ... The sweetest most caring person ... And he deserves so much better than I could ever give him, but he doesn't care because he just wants to be with me."

Maybe he was overstepping a bit with his words, but he wasnt exactly good at having someone try to dig into his relationships or person without giving some kind of backlash. He watched her pick up the knife, crossing his arms as he wasnt sure what she was thinking. She could try and stab him if she wanted to, frankly he wouldnt blame her. He let her speak out, but it was clear that he was also deducting whether she would actually lash out at him on a physical level. "Frankie put down the knife," he just said as he lifted a hand from crossing his arms to place over her and press the knife down so it wasnt like he was seconds from getting stabbed. "I think we both understand each other better than anyone when it comes to relationships," he then said, taking the knife from her hand, looking at it before handing it back to her, hopefully this time she was a little more aware that she was holding onto a weapon. "We both dont think we're good enough for the other," he then just muttered as he turned around and walked away as he just needed a little bit of distance. It wasnt often that he let out parts of him just like that so it was a weird feeling.

Frankie didn't fight back as he pushed the knife away. She just wasn't used to trusting others, so having a weapon made her feel like she could somehow protect herself even if she was disclosing more than she wanted to. She was just still so confused and surprised about everything that had happened today. She was scared to death because she finally felt like she was getting a break from all the bullshit in her life. Like she was finally out of her head and actually doing something.
She took the knife as he handed it back to her, slipping it back in to it's sleeve before placing it down her back pocket. His words stung, because it was true. She didn't feel like she would ever be good enough because of the baggage she carried. Who wanted a girl who clearly had everything about her turned upside down at some point? "Yeah, well unlike you I actually have the balls to give it a try," she said grabbing her pants to go change. Class was over. She didn't want to stay here much longer if this was what it was turning in to. She knew she had her fair share of problems, but she was not going to be lectured. If she wanted that all she had to do was visit her childhood home.
Once she had changed back in to her own clothes she grabbed her bag. Looking at him to see if he was still up his ass about all of this.

Her words felt more like mockery than anything else in the context they were speaking. He just paced a little back and forth as he thought it through. Maybe he wasnt as brave as her, but god damn how he didnt dare to try just because he felt like it could worsen everything. After the way Eden had just viciously attacked her and left her for dead without treating her wound in the slightest. Frankie would probably never understand how that could deter him from pursuing Eliza.
Once she came back he had decided to just let it go because it was only going to anger him further. He had gone to get her a waterbottle, offering it to her. "I'm sorry. I'm not exactly the best at talking about stuff like this. I shouldnt have said what I said," he said in a sincere tone, looking away like he was sucking up his pride and doing what was right. He sat down on a bench nearby and rubbed his head a little. "In all honesty, I might have done something if it wasnt that everytime I looked at her, I'd see what I saw back when some vampyre scum had ripped into her throat," he said as he motioned to his own throat, shaking his head.

Grabbing the water bottle she stood still for a while, just shifting her weight from one foot to the other. And then he apologized? Frowning she looked down, unscrewing the lid as she took a few gulps. Then the hybrid went in to the reason as to why, and it made her feel a sour taste in her mouth, following him over to the bench, sitting down beside him, albeit giving him some space. She took in his words as she thought it through. "Sorry, I just ... I didn't know there was some maniac involved," she said, now it was her turn to bite back her pride. She had been the one to start this, but she also felt like maybe if she could fix something then she could also manage to fix herself in some way.
"But don't you think you might've hurt her more not being there for her after what she went through?" she asked, knowing she might've been digging deeper than he wanted, but they were both hurt at this point. "I mean just after what I went through, I haven't been able to be alone yet ... And she just went traveling? I don't know, she sounds strong," and even if she wasn't strong, why wasn't he just teaching this model girl to defend herself? Sure, a vampyre was strong, but not invincible.

"Yeah, it's not exactly something I like mentioning, because then I start seeing it again," he said with a scoff, looking ahead as he felt the same bitter taste in his mouth just thinking about it. She was however right, Eliza was so strong and it had often made Xalvador wonder if he was the weak one. Maybe he was more muscle to just cover up for what he was lacking in spine and will? Shaking the thought he listened to what Frankie said.
"No, my brother did tell me that she needed resolution rather than being stuck in what-ifs and maybe's. Which was why I decided to let her go," he then said with a shrug. Could he really be blamed if he had also had someone on the sideline pushing him to make a choice?

He then spoke of his brother and she frowned. "Wait, your brother said that?" she said, not really believing what she heard. What a fucking jackass of a brother. "So you didn't even talk to her? You didn't sit down and have a grown conversation with her?" Okay, now she was judging him a bit more. If he hadn't even spoken to her, how did he know that he wasn't still stringing her along? Taking another swig of her water bottle.
"You need to speak with her and not your fucking brother - I mean, sure he might be smart and shit, but only she knows how she's feeling," she said, shaking her head at how Xalvador was trying to write all of this off. "If that was me I would be coming home and expecting to see you right away ... Because how would I know what you had spoken with your brother about?" She was making a good point.

Mentioning Gerard was maybe not the best idea but he had set his mind on telling the whole truth. And the whole truth was that Gerard had gotten himself involved and tried to push something onto the hybrid. That might have changed what could have been Xalvador and Eliza ending up together, in the contrary to them being left to their own to figure things out. "Did you enjoy the conversation we had before?" he just pointed out to mark just how bad he was at conversing when it came to heavy feelings.
But she was right, he had to talk to her about it. Frowning a little he just kept looking ahead, running a hand through his hair that had gotten a little longer than he usually let it. "I just dont know what to tell her. If I know my brother, he has probably already gone to her and sorted it all out," he then said with a shrug. But even so, would Eliza had believed Gerard's words? Or was she still just holding onto a hope? Xalvador sighed deeply and leaned forward to place his elbows on his knees, holding his head in his hands. "I'm just another pendejo," he muttered angrily.

"No, you are shit at having these sorts of conversations," she said, agreeing with him. "But that doesn't excuse not talking things through with her." She was right, and she knew it. What a cruel thing to do and awfully cowardly. Then he said his brother had sorted things out and she simply shook her head. That brother of his was sounding more and more like an asshole than a genuine brother.
"Yeah, you are ... But you still have a chance to fix it, right? I mean if she's in town and asking for you, then it would be the perfect chance to get a hold of her and talk it out?" she just suggested, knowing it might've sounded a little condescending, but alas he had to hear the straight answer. "If you care about her, you need to come clean - Because what you are doing is more cruel than slicing up her neck."
