Please note that this is an open thread. If more than one person wants to join I won't mind! Location: Gas station in Central District Time: A little after midnight Weather: Few clouds with a chance of rain later It was late at night and the streetlights outside flickered slightly. It had been a boring shift so far, well besides telling off a bunch of kids, but at least he had his smoke breaks to look forward to. He kept telling himself, being surrounded by the smell of the hotdog grill and that one weird cooler that kept buzzing, that this was temporary. Just the easiest job he could get his hands on. It was easy money, that was for sure. Looking up at the clock he sighed. He had an hour or so before he had to lock up at 1 am. The weather outside at least seemed decent enough, and at least it wasn't rain he would be walking home through. Pushing a hand through his broken pink hair he decided why not restock some of the beers. Weekend was coming up and if he didn't restock it before then he wouldn't have time once he had an empty shelf and an angry manager over his head. The bell rang as someone entered, "welcome, I'll be with ya in a sec," he said over his shoulder, just to be polite as he balanced a couple packets of beer over to the fridge. And sure enough, he soon moved up to the till, getting a good look at whoever had entered as his customer this late at night, "what can I do for ya?"

Rosemarie had had a long night as it was, but an altercation at home had made it so she didn't feel too safe. She had gotten on her bike, driven down to the gas station, but it wasn't before she looked at herself in the glass door that she realized her nose was bleeding. Wiping it off in her sleeve, she groaned at the pain in her face. Her cheek a little red from where George had struck her. Nevertheless she could perhaps just play it off on the weather outside still being chilly. Once inside she perused the store a little, just letting her fingers tap over some random assortment of gums. Did people really buy this many different kinds? She wasn't sure, but she picked up her favorite one: Cherry. Heading up to the disk, she heard the friendly clerk say something about coming soon. Meanwhile she just stood there tapping her feet against the floor. Anxiety was still in her body. She just hoped nobody would recognize her. The clerk was quite quickly up there with her, standing in front of her her eyes darted up to see how heavily tattooed he was. Wasn't he quite young to have so many tattoos? But then again who were she to judge others? That was when she realized that he had asked her something, her lips separating as she breathed out rather heavily. "This," she said, placing the cherry gum on the disk, "and a pack of cigs." Oh she knew she didn't pass the age limit, but she had to try and be convincing, right?

He looked at the kid in front of him, eyeing the cherry gum, but scanning it in to the machine regardless. However as she started asking for cigarettes he had to scoff, shaking his head no, "I gotta see an ID, kiddo," he said pointing at a sign that showed the age limit on both alcohol and cigarettes. "Or will it just be the gum for now?" Either way he couldn't sell her anything if she wasn't of age, though he did notice the redness of her cheek. "Are you alright?" he knew it wasn't his place to ask, but then again what was a kid her age doing at a gas station this late at night? And even besides that, she clearly wasn't in a rush to get back home to her parents. "Sorry, sorry ... It'll be 1 Unit," he said, putting on a friendly smile. Why he was being nice, he wasn't sure, perhaps because she looked like she had had a rough night as it was. After she had paid he would head back around to the cooler section, squatting down to grab the cans of beer, placing them in on the shelf. He almost couldn't wait to get home and get some sleep. Or rather, he would need a smoke first, and then probably just pass out on his bed if his neighbors weren't having a giant fight yet again tonight.
