| Creating a topic ⌈You have the character, now it's time to decide it's fate⌋ General information - These are general rules that we like see followed when writing topics. - They are not set in place to be a nuisance, but to create some sort of connectedness between what is written and posted on this site.
Narration - The narration we prefer seeing written in third person singular in a past tense. - This means no topics posted in bullet point form, or the use of first person singular. - Please bear in mind that not all on this site are native english speakers, so mistakes can happen.
Dialog - When referring to direct speech please use quotation marks ("") and when referring to direct thoughts please use asterisks (**). - It is allowed to also write a brief summary of a dialog like: She told him about the dog crossing the street. - It is also allowed to write short thoughts as such: That was very odd, he thought.
Content and trigger warning - To make sure that you and other players are safe, we like to see that explicit content will be marked in the title with either a content warning or a trigger warning. - CW (content warning) and TW (trigger warning) are there to protect those whom might not wish to see or read explicit content, so please be mindful of your fellow RP'ers. - TW is used when the following occurs in a topic: Rape, minors in inapropriate situations (like a flashback of abuse), abuse of any kind, selfharm, traumas. - CW is used when the following occurs in a topic: Explicit sexual behavior, violence, blood, torture as well as anything that does not fit under TW. - If you are unsure wether to use CW or TW in a title, you can opt to place both. - Placing CW and or TW in the title also means that the topic starter must place in the topic start what the content and or trigger warning is about, for example cw: guns and violence or tw: abusive parents. - Please remember that your topic partner has to agree with you before you move on to something that is deemed CW or TW.
Starting out - Starting a topic can sometimes be hard, especially if you have never written with the other person before. If you wish you might want to list some of the following: - Time: What time is it? Night? Day? - Place: Where are your character? - Surroundings: What is around your character? What is the general mood? - Weather: Is it raining or sunny? Does the wind make your character's hair fly crazy or is is just a summer breeze? - Of course you can always add more to this list, but this could give you a head start.
Powerplay, invincibility omniscient - Don't ever assume to take control over someone else's character, unless you have your partners permission. - Keep in mind that not many would want to RP with a character that can survive anything. Keep in mind that certain things will affect your character. Both physically and emotionally. We're RP'ing as people, not robots that can just power through any hardship without flaws. - We prefer to keep the scales even when it comes to strengths and weaknesses. Consider what would be on your character's scale. - Knowing about a character is not possible unless a certain relation is established, for example your character cannot know their favorite color if they have just met.
Social media - In game social media can be found under Technology. - Most social medias will be represented. - Please remember that social media usually refrains from explicit sexual content, so we advice you do the same. If not, please place a CW or TW in the title.
Plottwists - The element of surprise is what can keep your partner interested, therefor we applaud those who have mastered this way of writing. - The use of NPC's are allowed, and how much you want them fleshed out depends on your own preference. - The use of different plot devices are mostly up for personal preference, however we wish you to refrain from using traumas as a bonding session, for example if your character is going through something traumatic, it does not play out realistically to jump to a sexual encounter. |
