School Shenanigans [cw]

He heard her mutter but wasnt really sure what to say. He knew she didnt want pity so it wasnt like he could say sorry or something comforting. He just nodded and kept smoking his cigarette. The silence was fine. It was like it was all too fresh for them to really talk about, and Kurtis was bad at talking about stuff like this anyway; He was after all the guy who was avoiding relationships at any cost.
He looked at her as she told him he could talk to her if he needed to, but that was easier said than actually done. "Maybe some day." he said, shrugging a little. She poked his side and he agreed, flicking his cigarette away. "Let's go inside." he said with a nod. He hadnt even seen her room yet.

A couple of weeks had passed and Kurtis had opened a little more up to Zaira, at least to a point where the rumors didnt say that they were dating but probably just friends. He however didnt really talk much to her during school, more saved it for after school, which was fine now that she was really getting into her cheerleading.
They sat in geography class, working on some questions that the teacher wanted them to solve before class ended. "Dont bullshit me on this one.." he warned her but also smiled slightly, reading the answer that they were working on before he shook his head. It just didnt seem right to him. His phone buzzed and he checked it under the table before he made a small sigh. "There's a party tonight at Kelsey's again." he said, looking at Zaira like he wanted to know what she thought of it. But if she said anything about it, he'd click his tongue and point at the question. "Nah, I was asking about the question. I dont want to party with you." he said in a teasing manner.

"You know I would never, cause you'd call me out on that bullshit," she said, biting the end of her pencil as she heard his phone buzz. A new party didn't surprise her, it felt like there was one every week at this school. "Yeah, well I don't know-" she said but got cut off by his teasing remark making her scoff, hitting his arm as she giggled, making the teacher hush at them.
"You are such an ass," she muttered, but she smiled. They had gotten to at least some kind of friendship. The knot in her stomach when she thought of Abel hadn't gone away, but at least she didn't think about the guy every day now. She did check his social media from time to time, and writing with him, but it was mostly about the newest rumor at school or something like that. Her social media was a bit of a mess with the pictures she posted. Half of them seeming like some generic cheerleading shit and the other were pictures of her, Jeremy, Kurtis and this other guy Finn, who've Jeremy had met in one of his need classes. "Besides if I start drinking it's going to ruin my figure, and who would want to see me shake my ass it that ass is loose?" She giggled, scratching out some of the things they had wrote for the question, asking what to write instead because yeah, it did sound wrong.
After class she met up with Finn and Jeremy out in the gardens. P.E. was next, and she was ready to kick some ass at football. "I swear you're the most non-cheerleader cheerleader I've ever met," Finn chuckled, running a hand through his blonde short cut hair. You wouldn't think by the looks of it, but his mother owned a pretty extensive product line for skin and hair. "Oh I'm sorry I don't fit in to your fantasies, Finny, but some of us likes to break stereotypes, " she smiled as she was riding on Jeremy's back towards the football field.

He was such a guy. Just mention ass and his imagination went wild, huh? The good thing about the rumor dying down was that she hadn't had a run in with one of his crazy girlfriends, which was kind of a relief. She had actually managed to pull her grade up as well, excelling in many of those the school offered. "Fine, I'll go to that stupid party - but only to show off my amazing swimming skills,' she chuckled. That night was still one they rarely spoke about, unless it was the party, but she didn't feel the need to discuss something that was a once in a lifetime thing.

Sitting on Jeremy's back, she just chuckled at the exchange between the two guys. "I know many cheerleaders, shut up," he said, his cheeks flaring up all red. "Sure you do, I bet you've made out with most of them too," Zaira giggled, holding on to Jeremy's shoulders.  "Jere, could you perhaps come pick me up before the party? My old lady's been asking about you since we did that all nighter," she sighed. Her mother and her interest in her friends was a little cute, but also damn annoying.

"Sure, there's the obvious Zaira ... Then there's Jenna from my history class and ..." he said before he sighed, shaking his head, "man, I don't have to prove anything, alright." Which only made Zaira chuckle, shaking her head a little, but they eventually dropped the topic. "Yeah, and you better be real respectful," she said, grabbing on to his ear like he was some disobedient child, "she likes guys with manners." Jumping off his back she stretched a bit as well before he rubbed his back. The notion of working out more made her frown, "are you calling me heavy?" She asked with narrowed eyes before she softened up, chuckling as she shook her head.
The rest of the class joined them soon enough and the teacher split them in to teams, and Zaira and Jeremy was on one team and Finn and Kurtis, if he showed up, was on the other. Zaira was rather determined to win, taking on the role as leader as they went to discuss strategies. "We need to beat those assholes!" - "Language, miss Rojas!" the teacher reminded her making her teammates laugh.

"No, I am actually just calling myself weak as fuck, so self burn?" he chuckled as she was shaking her head. Once the rest of the class arrived, Kurtis came strolling too. He overlooked who was on the other team while his own was trying to figure out their own strategy. Leaning over to Finn, he made a small smile. "So Jeremy is going to be the runner-up to whoever that starts with the ball, make sure to keep a close eye on him. He's really good at long shots, so if you see a pass to him, you stop that ball like your life depend on it." the lycan explained. He chuckled a little because he knew that Jeremy was probably spilling everything he knew about Kurtis on the other side. The sun was baking above as the day was at it's hottest temperature, making most of the guys take off their shirts, Jeremy and Kurtis included. "Kurtis is a defense player, so if you see him on one side, you stick to the other. He's fast and it's so god damn annoying when he steals the ball." Jeremy was spilling, eyeing his childhood friend on the other side who just sent him a smile back.

Finn was just quietly observing. He wasn't the best at sports, but he was a pretty big guy, so he was the ultimate goal keeper. Zaira was tiny, but she had speed on her side. Fuck it was hot already! But as the game kicked off it was pretty good, Finn managed to stop a goal, tossing it in and over to a girl on their team and then she passed it to Kurtis. Zaira kept her eye on the ball before she went for it, snatching the ball in front of Kurtis, but ultimately another guy came tackling her, making her land in the grass. The teacher blew their whistle and the guy who had tackled Zaira got sent out and another player in. "Fucking hell," she muttered, dusting grass off of her before she decided to strip her shirt off. That made a few guys stop and stare at her. She had gotten pretty fit, and the small shorts sat hugging her body in all the right places. Her sports bra had good support, but it didn't stop them from moving as she ran around the field.

Kurtis couldnt be bothered with playing offense, mostly because he'd rather not listen to some guy complain about the natural differences in the two of them and how Kurtis was cheating in that way. As he was passed the ball, he watched Zaira come for him, but he really thought she couldnt be crazy enough to try. He was a little too in his head and confidence that she wouldnt that when she did, he failed to stop her. Another guy however seemed to pick up and tackle her, making Kurtis frown a little but ultimately it was a part of the game to eat grass once in a while. Which some of the guys complained about as the guy was sent out. Kurtis' rolled his eyes slightly at the guys that were staring at Zaira, but in fact also stole a peek or two.
Jeremy got the ball and looked shortly at Zaira before he nodded and went for it. He made it past a few guys, but eventually he had to pass the ball. Though he should have seen that Kurtis was only waiting for that, breaking the line of the ball to pass it to one of his own teammates that kicked the ball to the other side of the field. Jeremy tried to run back but most of their players had gone away from defense. "Go back go back!" he commanded. A quick pass confused the goalkeeper and the ball went in, making Kurtis' team cheer. Kurtis lifted his hands and yelled "So much for beating these assholes, huh?" with a chuckle to follow.

Cussing and swearing as the ball went in she leaned on her knees as she was trying to catch her breath, "I feel like me and Jere are the only people up front; Come on people, we can do this!" she encouraged her team, ignoring Kurtis as he yelled at them. The ball was kicked out, and it was quickly passed to Jeremy. Zaira could see the people heading towards him, so she made him pass the ball under one of the guys and to her as she moved it further down the field. She managed to make it to the goal, where Finn stood quite stunned as she kicked the ball and it went in, making her cheer, running back to Jeremy and jumping in to his arms. "I'll beat your ass any day Trevino!" she yelled chuckling as she ruffled up Jeremy's hair before the game went on.

It was about watching every move and it all went so fast. Kurtis could follow but he was shielded off by a player that simply wouldnt let him past. He watched Zaira go for it and watched the ball go in. The other team went wild, Jeremy especially that swung Zaira around as she jumped into his arms. Kurtis smirked as she yelled back at him. The game continued and goals went in on both sides, the teachers eventually calling the last shots. It was a little chaotic, the ball being passed between the teams by people who were snatching the ball or passing it away. Zaira had the ball and Kurtis was behind her, blocking her path. "I'm not letting you pass here, Rojas." he assured her, not matter how much her shoulder pushed into his chest to get past. If she turned he'd be there, ready to snatch the ball or at least trying to, but he wasnt going to let her get near the goal. "Zaira, over here!" a guy called but it would be a risky pass.

Gods, he was a pain in the ass, but the kind she liked. Even though they were practically hating each other while in game mode, they clearly had fun doing so. "I wasn't counting on it," she mumbled, giving him another shove with her shoulder. They were never this close physically, but as one of her teammates called out she saw a chance. Moving around, she managed to pass the ball to the guy, feeling a bit lightheaded, but she stuck her tongue out at Kurtis as she ran after her teammate. Finn came out of the goal, approaching the guy from her team, but the ball was passed over to Jeremy in the knick of time. "GO JERE!" she yelled at the top of her lungs.

Finn felt defeated, sitting down on the grass with a sigh, but some of the other players came over, and he seemed to be in a better mood after that. Zaira giggled loudly as Jeremy picked her up, and she held out her arms as if to take all of the honor, although she was a team player at heart. Their teacher told them to break it up, and she was put down, readjusting her ponytail as she looked around. Everyone seemed in a good mood today, and she smiled to herself as she got her hair out of her face.
Kurtis approached her, and she grabbed the bottle, unscrewing the lid and taking a few sips before pouring some water in her neck and down her chest to cool down, shivering a bit at contact. "Wow, I guess I should feel honored," she teased, smiling as she looked at him. "And don't come here saying you let me win this time around, because that would be a lie," she moved over to sit down in the shadow as the teacher went through what they had learnt today and the rules of the sport. "Fuck man, I'm sweating like a pig; Jere, you're right a dip in the pool later will be awesome," she smiled, looking back at Kurtis. "You'll be happy to know that I am in fact coming to the party tonight; We're all bringing bathing suits, so if you don't want to be thrown in the pool with clothes on, you better have something to wear too."

"Yeah, yeah, dont get ahead of yourself." he sighed, following her into the shadow as her words made him shrug. "Okay. This time I did try." he came clean, rolling the cold waterbottle between his hands to feel the cold. Jeremy soon joined them and waved Finn over. "Exactly. That's what I'm saying!" Jeremy exclaimed before he laid down in the grass and made a deep sigh. Kurtis eyed Zaira as she spoke to him, only to scoff, until her last sentence that made him narrow his eyes at her. He wanted to add a like last time? but instead just scoffed and unscrewed his bottle. They werent really talking about that time so there was no point to bring it up, though his mind did go to that night. "You can try. I'm going down swinging." he said a little harsh before he took a sip. Jeremy pushed himself up on his elbows and tilted his head a little. "Challenge accepted." he confirmed, looking at Zaira with a smile.

Zaira chuckled at Jeremy's promise to accept the challenge, nodding as she turned around to have her head on Jeremy's stomach and her feet by Kurtis. Finn was paying attention to the teacher, still trying to calm down after the match. "It's so warm," she complained, closing her eyes with a smile. "I miss Spain so much on days like these; Getting in a car and going to the beach, laying in the sand as the sound of the waves hitting and calming the area," she said, smiling to herself. "Might go there this Summer; My old lady bought a vacation house in Barcelona," opening her eyes to look up at the leaves above, a few rays of sun peaking through. "What plans do you guys have for the summer?"

Both boys listened to her as she spoke of Spain, Jeremy telling some story of where he usually went with his parents during summer and Kurtis not saying anything about his usual summer. "Auvandril is good during summer because the forests there are just almost magical. With the warmth, it's so amazing to just sit under the trees like this and be surrounded by nothing but nature." he explained with a smile. For his plans for this summer he hummed and lifted his hands to rest under his head. "This summeeeer. I dont know. My parents think I should go backpacking for a couple of weeks somewhere, get to see the world and stuff." he said, but didnt really sound super interested in it. "My dad is probably going to drag me and my mom to Italy to see some family members like he does every summer." Kurtis said a little dryly, looking towards the teacher like he at least wanted to seem like he was listening.

Listening to Jeremy talk she smiled, turning her head to look a little surprised at the backpacking, "then you better come visit me in Spain," she chuckled before Kurtis spoke. His dry tone made her know more than enough, because he clearly wasn't looking forward to it. Finn seemingly not understanding the situation budded in, we'll probably go to France like we always do; My brother is really artsy, so he wants to paint there when we go," he said with a small smile, eyeing Zaira. Zaira nodded, looking at Kurtis, pushing his leg with her foot, "you can stop by too; Italy is right next to Spain, and a flight won't cost much," she said a bit encouraging. Class ended, and Zaira stretched before getting up. "Aight kids, behave until I see you boys tonight," she smiled before heading in with the girls to shower and change.

That evening she had gotten herself ready, making sure to wear a bikini beneath her clothes. The weather outside was still very nice, and she knew she was going to want a dip in the pool. She was wearing a rather simple outfit, although her make up was a bit more than she usually went with. Perhaps because she wanted to spice it up a bit. Luckily she had some great waterproof make up, so it wouldn't budge.

"I'll see if it can fit into the schedule." Jeremy said with a smile. Finn's words made Jeremy hum as he tilted his head. "My parents have a small summerhome in Béarn, I like it there, though they usually just go as like a romantic vacation without kids and leave us here in Churchill now that we're older." he explained with a soft chuckle. Kurtis made a small snort at the notion that he could come too, drawing in a deep breath. "Flattering. Are you saying cant go a whole summer without seeing me?" he just asked in teasing rather than giving an answer. Once class ended and the group split up, everyone went home to prepare for tonight.

Once it was time, Jeremy showed up to pick her up like he had promised to. He was just wearing a casual yet stylish button up shirt and some pants that werent too hard to get out or into since they were going into a pool. He had tried to get Kurtis to come along as well, but the lycan had declined. Sometimes Jeremy wanted to understand what was going through his friend's head and why things couldnt just be simple.

Zaira decided to be more challenging as he asked. Even if it was in teasing she raised her eyebrow at him, "what if that is exactly what I'm saying?" she said before she had to head off.

Her mother had been relaxing, making a few phone calls here and there while watching something on the TV. The door bell rang and she got up from the couch, her white wine in one hand as she looked at the screen for the gate. A young man? "You are here for Emanuelita?" she said through the system. If he said he was she would let the buzzer ring for Jeremy to get in, opening the door for him as he arrived at the house, calling out for her daughter and yelling something about her needing to hurry up in Spanish before smiling at the young guy. "Mami, chill, I am ready," Zaira chuckled, coming down the stairs with a bottle in her hand. She smiled as she saw Jeremy, "wassup dude!" she said before introducing her mother to him and vice versa. "Are you my daughter's boyfriend?" she asked quiet seriously and Zaira groaned. "Mami, por favor no ahora," - "He's just a really good friend," she finally said making her mother pout before chuckling and pushing the young ones out the door. "Later creator," Zaira said raising her bottle up before pulling Jeremy with her, chuckling as she shook her head, "she thinks every guy I mention is a possible boyfriend for me," she apologized.

"Pfft, you shouldn't - I don't think I'm your type anyways," she said shrugging a bit with a warm smile on her face. "I'm a mess and when I get drunk I'm really unbearable to be around." she chuckled. His question made her sigh, grabbing on to his arm as they walked. She just liked being around Jeremy, like she didn't have to think too much about what other people were thinking. He was just a good friend at this point, and he had helped her a lot with coming to terms with everything that had happened with Abel. "You want me to be brutally honest?" she asked, but of course he wanted that from her. "I just want to kiss someone tonight and not think about Abel," she said. Maybe that was a bit pathetic, but she knew she could tell Jeremy that and not get scrutinized. He was a good guy, and she felt like she could trust him a bit more than if she would open up to Kurtis.
"And if no-one wants to bat me an eye, then I'll get wasted and throw up in a bush - Like the lady I am," she giggled as they continued down the street.

"What do you know about that?" he quickly answered with a chuckle, shaking his head. It was probably true that she wasnt exactly his type specifically, but he couldnt really explain what that type would be either. "But you throw a mean ball in beerpong and I can respect that fully." he said with a nod.
He nodded as she asked whether to be brutally honest, frowning a little like of course you should be brutally honest! But as she then said what it was, he nodded and sighed, then smiled. "That sounds like an okay goal for tonight. And especially do-able. I'm sure there'll be a lineup just for you." he said so certain. He just wouldnt believe that she wouldnt be reaching that goal tonight.
Arriving at the house, he placed his bottle at the table with all the other drinks. It was actually a pretty cool setting, the way Kelsey had turned the house into a party house. But then again, it wasnt hard to imagine knowing that Kelsey lived there with her friends rather than her parents. He noticed Finn and called, waving him over with a smile. He didnt really bother to ask whether he had seen Kurtis, because it wasnt exactly clear when the lycan would show up to anything ever.

"A line? I hope not," she chuckled before arriving at the house. She placed her own bottle down, greeting Finn with a nod. The guy had clearly already had something to drink, mumbling something about alcohol being strong making Zaira chuckle. "At least I won't be the only one puking in the bushes," she said, slapping her two guys on the back before she went in to the party to grab herself a drink and a couple of shots just to loosen up a bit. The music was nice and loud, but not loud enough to not talk with others. She had promised Jeremy that they'd play beerpong later, but first she wanted to scope out the room. She fell in to conversation with different groups of people, a few guys even flirting with her and she was brave enough to flirt back.
Finn just stood a bit awkwardly next to Jeremy, "I have a crush on Zaira," he admitted shaking his head before he too went in to the party and getting lost in the crowd.

Finn being tipsy only made Jeremy chuckle, holding a little onto him so he was sure he wouldnt be falling all of a sudden. "Yeah, I'll get Finn here some water and a little sitdown and then we'll find you later." he said, looking at his friend with a smile, clapping his back a little. He let go of Finn after a bit, only for the guy to make his confession and leave, making Jeremy look after him as he blinked a few times. "Well, I'm starting to see a pattern here." he mumbled to himself, finding himself a drink before he eventually found Kurtis somewhere outside, who wore this outfit with a few chains attached to one side of his pants. "We should have a bell on you or something so we'd always know where you are." Jeremy said, Kurtis scoffing as he smoked his cigarette. "Put it on a choker and I might wear it. But till then, the chains will do" the lycan said as he made the chains on his pants rattle, making Jeremy chuckle before they went inside to get drinks.
