School Shenanigans [cw]

Zaira just smiled politely, even though she was feeling that awkward feeling too. Especially as it went quiet for a little bit. She just looked down at her nails, picking at her nail polish a little until his mother asked another question, which she felt was a little intrusive. "I- uh-" she said, not really sure what to say. Would this get Kurtis in trouble? Would she have to go home if she was his girlfriend? She just felt rather nervous and so afraid of seeing Kurtis beaten again. "We're dating," she just confessed, because what else was she supposed to do? She also felt rather cornered, and lying now would just make things worse. "I'm friends with Abel and Jeremy too," she just threw in there as if it would make her more trustworthy. Maybe it was just her old self that was seeping in to the conversation. She just felt a little useless right now. "But yeah, uh, so we're a thing."

Zaira wasn't sure what to say about this whole ordeal. His mother seemed nice, but she knew better than to trust a flower by it's smell. She also felt a little freaked out over the words that were being spoken. Young love? They were going out, they weren't getting married. But it seemed that Alexis had heard enough, dismissing her and letting her go find Kurtis. Getting up from the couch she smiled at Alexis, "thank you for letting me stay over," she said rather politely. Even if she could be a badass, she did have manners. Heading out in to the hallway, she saw the butler, sending him a polite smile as she went up the stairs to where she knew Kurtis' room were. Opening the door it was empty, well besides all of his jewelry and chains on display. Placing her bag down on the end of his bed she walked to them, touching and looking at the different kinds. There were a lot, but she guessed she hadn't really seen him without a chain or a necklace before.

Turning around she looked at him as he came out from the bathroom, scoffing right back at him as he came closer. She greeted his lips, shrugging lightly at his question, "spoke with your mother for a bit," she said. She hated that she felt like she had to walk on eggshells, but alas for now everything was a little uncharted territory. He got dressed and she just looked at his chains for a bit before moving over to sit down on his bed, looking at him as she couldn't help but smile. "The doc cleared me ... I can go back to cheerleading first thing Monday," she said, feeling almost giddy at the thought. She had really missed working out and being a part of her team. Sure, exams would start soon, but at least training would keep her mind from exploding with everything she had to remember.
She herself was actually wearing something rather relaxed, not something you'd typically see a girl her age wear when going over to a boyfriend. It was a large band tee, one where the band name was barely visible at this point, and then a pair of rather ripped jean shorts. Her hair was just hanging down her back, a little unruly, but that was how it was with her fluffy curls. She definitely didn't look like a typical movie cheerleader. "I gotta say I'm a little excited to hear what you have planned." She pulled her feet up on his bed, wrapping her arms around her legs as she leaned her chin on her knees. Looking at him, her eyes following a water droplet that was running down his chest.

Scoffing she pushed his hand away from her lips, "you better have something more planned than that," she said, laying back on his bed, looking up at the ceiling, feeling the light breeze from the window come in. It was not sunset yet, but the sun was low on the sky, shining through the window and hitting one of his posters. She could hear him walking over, presumably getting dressed, although she wouldn't mind if he kept his shirt off. She liked the looks of him, although saying it out loud would perhaps be a bit sappy. She just hadn't really felt this way before. Sure she had had that boyfriend at her former school, but the feelings he gave her were much different.
The question about his mother made her push herself up by her elbows, watching as his hair poked through the hole of his shirt. "She asked what we were ... And I just said we were dating," she said, not really knowing if it was anything too unusual. Kurtis had given her the greenlight to say that the two of them were together, so she hoped that this was alright too. "Cause ... We are," she muttered, biting her lower lip as she looked at him trying to figure him out.

The silence was almost killing. If it had been any other guy taking this long to answer something simple she would've left by now, but Kurtis was different. He had been there through it all, so leaving now wouldn't really do any good. He laid down next to her, the small push making her smile slightly, although she had a hard time stopping with the worrying. For the first time she had someone besides her mother that she wanted to look out for. But he didn't seem to budge much. "Alright, I won't break your skull open, but just a quick Trevino 101 would be nice," she said, turning around to lay on her side, looking at him as the sunlight gave him a warm glow from behind. "But maybe we should talk about that outside?" She smiled, getting up from the bed, snagging his cigarettes and infamous lighter before crawling out of his window and on to the roof.
Once outside she scaled it pretty easily, knowing roughly where he used to sit because of the pictures he had sent. If he joined her, she would hand him his packet back, having taken one for herself that she had already lit. She didn't smoke often, but she did like joining him once in a while, just because it felt good.

She was not sure if he actually wanted to tell her much, she just at least needed to know the basics, like what the dynamic was. Sure, she had seen his bruises and those she wouldn't ever forget, but his mother was more of a grey area to her. Maybe it was just because she herself was lucky at least regarding her own mother. But she listened as he went on to explain. Italy descent, sounded fair enough, but she guessed it was only in name and not really in blood. But she kept that notion to herself as she just looked up at the sky as he spoke about his father. She didn't like hearing this, and maybe ignorance had been bliss, but she was in this deep already, so she felt like she had to know. Maybe to understand him better or perhaps just be able to know where not to fuck up. The silence that followed she felt like she knew well, reaching over to move some of his still damp hair from his eyes. "Come back," she muttered softly, smiling him and just being there for him. If he returned to himself, well more or less, she would just look up at the sky, twiling his tuft of hair between her fingers.
"My guess is that fighting back doesn't work," she said, not because she wanted him to be submissive, but she didn't know what to say or do about all of this. It wasn't something she had experience in. But she was not going to give up just yet. "What are his plans for you? Your mother spoke really weirdly about young love or whatever - I don't know it sounded strange," she said, frowning as she wouldn't like to just be some puzzle piece in Kurtis' life that his parents wanted to figure out if she fit in to his. She liked him, a lot, but could a teenage girl actually just get involved in this all of a sudden?
"My mom's been pestering me with all sorts of questions about you; Mostly when you'll come by for a visit, but she's never been one to understand grounding as a punishment," she shrugged. Maybe it was just a culture thing, or perhaps it was the built trust between mother and daughter that was really that strong. "She also asked if you're coming to Barcelona with us this Summer - I know, I know, she can be a lot some times," she rolled her eyes, inhaling smoke once more as she laid back against the roof, stretching her arm up to the sky.

His only child, his only hope. Those words felt almost ominous as Kurtis spoke them, but she guessed it was something he had heard before. She was an only child too, but it was so clear that their experiences on that front was completely different. But she also had a feeling that Kurtis wasn't liking the prospects of his life as planned out. Trying not to worry too much she changed the subject. He had told her more than he needed, but he was of course always welcome to open up. It just seemed like a great source of pain to him, and digging further wouldn't bring them closer. She actually thought it would have the opposite effect.  
Nodding she would tell her mother to just hold out a little longer. Zaira loved her mother, but sometimes she went a bit overboard when she met someone. "Of course I meant it," she scoffed, pushing him lightly with her elbow, snuffing out her cigarette against the roof as he laid down next to her. Him speaking about the sunset made her smile, turning her head to look at him. He clearly had been out on this roof many times to know that. "What makes you think we'll miss it?" She asked. They were already there, why not just stay on the roof until the sun had went down? "But you better promise to keep me warm ... these nights have been weirdly cold lately," she said, rolling her eyes if he came with some stupid line about her getting soft.
Truth was with the summer coming to Churchill she started to miss Spain a lot, missing her life back there was weird, but she did. Her friends she wrote with sometimes, but it was sorta hard keeping in touch when it seemed like her life had changed so much. And besides that all of the things that had happened since starting at Saint Jules. It felt like a literal rollercoaster.

Humming at the notion about food she shrugged. She wasn't famished yet, but getting something to eat would be nice. At least if they had plans on staying up late. "I could grab a bite," she said, though she had gotten some late lunch with her mother. He reached down, taking her hand and as she felt her fingers get separated by his she smiled, giving his hand a soft squeeze. His question however made her frown, shaking her head no as she turned to look at him. "No - Funny enough the day we met was my first day," she confessed. It was still so weird to think back on, how the three guys had been hiding away in the girls bathroom just the moment where she had entered.
"My mother had wanted me to wait until Monday to start, but I had insisted on starting that Friday," she chuckled. It was so strange. If she hadn't insisted on going, would they've even have met? Saint Jules was a big school, and the many students were sometimes a blur to her. Lifting their entangled hands, she kissed the back of his, smiling against his warm skin. It was a funny feeling. His warmth wasn't like anything she had felt before. It was like wherever he touched her, she felt that heat like fire, but pleasantly so. "That night," she muttered against his hand, closing her eyes a little as she thought about their first time together. "You kept asking me ... If you had done well; Why was that?" she asked, because to her it didn't make sense. He could feel her every emotion, so he would've felt just how good it had been for her, right?

It was sorta absurd to think that they had only met because she was stubborn, but on the other hand it was pretty on brand for her, so she wasn't going to object to that statement. It was weird how she had felt that innate dislike towards him, but that she had soon come to understand that it wasn't because she didn't like him. It was because she disliked the fact that she liked him.
Different? Frowning a little she wasn't sure what to think about it, but he went on to explain and her expression softened up somehow, looking at him as he looked at her. "So you were the first to go soft, huh?" she muttered in a slight tease, smiling as she leaned in, kissing his nose teasingly. She was actually really enjoying this. Zaira had a feeling he hadn't really been in this situation before, and that what they were doing right now might've actually been more scary than being naked and having sex with someone new. "When you finished there was this ... I don't know, it felt like a real connection," she said, not sure how she could describe it. It was just remembering the look in his eyes, how his muscles tensed up and he held her. "I gotta admit it scared me a little ... Which was why I just had to get up and away," she wasn't sure if he felt the same, but it wasn't going to change how she felt. She had even tried playing it off, calling it nice. She could cringe at that word. It hadn't just been nice, it had been more than that. "I pushed you out of my mind, and I think for a while I wasn't really acting like myself just so that I could handle seeing you with Vanessa," she confessed. Perhaps she had tried burying herself in Abel, but that had backfired on her as she had caught feelings for the shy guy too. Breathing out in a sigh she closed her eyes. Why did being a teenager always have to be this complicated?

She actually had to hand it to him, listening to what she was saying was perhaps not too easy to digest for someone like him. But Zaira also had to respect it when he said he had had enough, though the squeeze of her hand did make her feel quite a bit better. Food it was, and she nodded in agreement. "Do you have anything planned or?" She smiled.

Following him she took his hand as he offered it, making a small jump to get both feet in the room once more. His suggestion made her chuckle, nodding, but in reality she actually could cook somewhat. Even though her mother said that now they were rich they had to act as such, she still liked cooking. At least just the basic shit. "It sounds like a fun challenge actually," she agreed, still holding his hand before pulling at it a bit. Going out the door they headed down to the kitchen.

Holding hands was just one of those things that couples did, right? Well she sorta understood why better right now. It was like holding someone close and showing them off at the same time. Even though it was just in the safety of his home, it felt like she should be proud. And she was. Mostly she was just happy that she was able to spend some real alone time with him. Even if she would've preferred it would be at her place where his family didn't feel like they were spying on them. Just at that thought they entered the kitchen, and she could feel Kurtis' hesitation. She could feel his grip loosen, as if he was fighting with himself over whether this was worth it. It didn't take him long to decide, gripping a bit harder around her hand, but not too tight as to where it hurt her. Sending his mother a polite smile she just turned to look at Kurtis as he was asking what she felt like. Humming to herself she smiled, letting go of his hand, albeit a little reluctantly, to go look in the fridge. Perhaps that would give her some idea.
"Well I guess it depends on how complicated it should be?" she said looking at the fridge that was filled neatly with fresh food. At least he seemed to eat well, even though it seemed that they were the type of people to have a cook. Closing the fridge door she turned to look at him, "you know, I make a mean macaroni and cheese," she smiled teasingly, but she did think it was pretty good herself. Although she usually added veggies or meat to it as well, just to make it more than carbs. "Or we could make nachos? That's pretty simple," she suggested.

Not a cheesy guy but he liked nachos? Well she guessed they could just make a cheese dip instead but they could discuss that later. Grabbing the bottle he offered she thought it through, taking a sip of water before she listed ingredients for the sort of nachos she liked. Jalapeños, meat, peppers, salsa, guacamole, cheese and the chips of course. "You think you got any of that here, or do we need to order some groceries?" she said, not really sure what was in all of the cupboards. Moving over to him she took out her phone as she wrote down what they had and what they needed, turning around to lean against the kitchen isle with her back. "Delivery of groceries here in Churchill isn't too bad, and the ground beef we could just start cooking - you have the ingredients for a simple salsa, so I could just whip that up pretty fast," she pondered, not really realizing how much of herself was showing right now. She was a problem solver at heart, she liked organizing even if it could look a bit messy from the outside.
