Stumbling around this crazy world

Think, Raine, think! She had taken a left - no! She had taken a right and then... Groaning to herself she kicked some loose rocks on the ground, sitting down on a bench. Her slender fingers ran through her thick strands of brown hair, her eyes looking to the ground in a desperate attempt at making the cement beneath her feet say anything back. But it was silent. By whoever was in charge of this world, all of this was so confusing.
How she had even gotten out of that crazy house was a tale in it of itself, but she had left with nothing but the clothes they had given her. However it was autumn, and this hospital gown wasn't meant to keep in the heat. Pulling her feet up she inspected the weird shoes without shoelaces. Cocking her head to the side she picked slowly at a hole that was in the canvas. People walked past her, ignoring the girl with the strange eyes who was deep in her thoughts. Scratching her scalp she pushed one foot off the bench, dangling it and not letting it touch the ground. This city was filled with life, but when she closed her eyes it felt like she was alone. She didn't know why, but she felt like she was supposed to feel more. It just felt so empty.
A group of guys passed her, they were teasing each other, wearing nice suits and talking about hitting the town - why would they hit it? She looked at them, her eyes curious as she got up from the bench, deciding to follow them, albeit from a distance. As they headed in to a bar she stopped, not really sure if she dared to enter this strange place. It smelled strongly, burning her nose a little and making her frown. It smelled familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had smelt it before. Instead she just stood outside the bar, letting people pass through as she tried getting a peak every time the door opened and closed once more.

Raine wasn't sure about all of this. The smell was heavy, burning her nostrils but everytime the door opened, she didn't get to look long before it got shut once again. Taking a few steps away from the door, she looked at the people standing outside, sucking on sticks that were on fire. Oh she knew that name! Cigarettes! Or she thought that was what it was. Her multicolored shifting eyes moved around until they landed on someone that was now approaching her. Standing still, like a deer in headlights, she looked at the man that drew nearer. He was a bit taller than her, but not by much. Or rather she didn't have to strain her neck to look at his face. His question seemed almost warm, like he actually cared, but she knew better of this world. They were all cold here, weren't they? Cold and so ... Lifeless. "I was just looking," she muttered, her accent heavy but not with one that was easily recognizable. The nurses had dismissed her accent, calling it, oh what did they call it? American! Yes, that was right, although she had no idea what an American was nor what it looked or sounded like. "What's behind that door?" she asked, pointing at the bar from whence he had came. She started to shiver, the cold a bit unbearable in this thin fabric of a dress.

Drinking. Card games. Dancing. It did sound fun, but she was more so scared to enter. It was strange. She had a feeling of being brave, but then again, was she really as brave as she felt? As she started to shiver he seemingly introduced himself. Osiris. What a pretty name. The offer of warm clothes and food made her nod, walking a bit closer to him. "Yes please," she said, feeling her stomach rumble just at the thought of food. He was a real kind man, wasn't he? Looking at his hand she was a bit unsure of what to do before taking it with her own, "my name's Raine," she said, but that was about the extent of what she knew about herself. He felt warm, and she shuddered a bit as she realized just how cold she was getting. If he led the way, she would follow him.

Leaning her neck back she looked up at the tall building, humming at his comment about her name. Sure, it was a strange name, but so was his own, wasn't it? Besides whenever she had tried telling others the other name she remembered for herself, they just thought she was speaking in tongues. So Raine it was. Walking in to the tall building she looked around, he explained the ascend to the top but she was much more preoccupied with the glass that surrounded the building. It looked like it was shimmering from the lights outside.
"Hmm?" she said, looking at the friendly stranger that had brought her here. "I can walk," she smiled, looking down at her dress she frowned a little, "but please walk ahead." She didn't want him peaking at her under her hospital gown. She would follow him up the stairs, not so easily out of breath as she thought she was going to be, but the further they got up, the more of the city she could see through the windows. "Does everyone live this high up?" she asked confused.

What a strange place indeed. The facility she had been to had a few stories of height, but nothing this massive. She moved carefully in to the apartment, but the entryway was already massive in her eyes. Was he living here all alone? She could probably fit a whole town in here if they all squeezed together. He spoke about finding some clothes for her, and she looked down herself, knowing what she had on was stiff from the cold.
He handed her some clothes and to be fair they would probably look massive on her slender frame, but she nodded, sending him a thankful smile. Turning her head as he guided her to the bathroom. Wow, the floor was warm! Smiling as she got out of her ruined shoes, she felt her toes warm on the heated flooring, looking after Osiris as he left. She took a few minutes to gather herself, looking at herself in the mirror but having a hard time recognizing the image. Getting out of the hospital gown was pretty easy, one string and it came right off. Placing it in the sink she pulled on the shirt, but the pants were a bit harder to navigate. First of all, they wouldn't stay on her hips properly, constantly sliding down, but the underwear he had given her was luckily a bit easier to get in to. Her hair was a mess, but she didn't really care about that, instead she decided to wash her face, forgetting about the hospital gown that was now soaked. She sighed, shaking her head at herself, but looked more like herself now. Or she guessed she did.
Walking away from the heated flooring was hard, but she could at least feel her toes now. That was when she realized there was the most amazing smell in the air. Food. Following the scent, it lead her out in to a kitchen where she saw Osiris cooking. He was a kind man, wasn't he? "Thank you for the clothes," she said, walking closer as her eyes eagerly peaked at whatever he was cooking up. "It's really nice and warm in here."
