She did look over the pieces that he pointed out, liking all of them, but it had to somehow be perfect. One that she'd look at and just think this was something Mary would like. She listened to him as he explained how some people seemed to be. She could understand that. "I was insecure in my old life, but I did appear confident because it was expected of me." she shrugged. But he was right. It made her feel a bit better and she eventually stopped as she looked at a little trinket, didnt really look like much. "Have you given gifts to your friends?" she asked, because she was curious. As far as she could remember, he had given her a fair few things, not always something big and meaningful, but the literal first time he saw her, he handed her a lollipop.

"I can't really boast about having a lot of friends," he said, though he knew that didn't answer her question. Sighing he scratched his scalp a little, "I usually leave stuff for people .. Like buy food for those working late or pre-pay a round of drinks at a bar some of the goons usually go to after work," he said with a small shrug. He didn't know if they even knew who did this, but he didn't need them to know either. "I got Nyx stuff when she was younger, like toys and clothes, nothing really fancy," he admitted looking around as to not stare himself blind on the small pendants. He had bought Elaine stuff too, but she mostly just wanted cash or for him to pay for clothes online.

It wasnt like she was rolling in friends either, but she did use to have a fair few. That wasnt really what she wanted to think about and as he began answering her question she hummed and nodded. It was quite a sweet thing to do. "Did she have any favorites? If you remember?" she asked, before she looked at him. She reached the end and had run out of jewelry. Sighing she would have to go them through again, but instead of doing that right away, she moved on. This was a peculiar shop. A bit like Mortimer's and yet not quite. This seemed to be all old and secondhand. She kind of liked it. She stopped by a little peculiar statue on a shelf that wouldnt even fit her hand as it was so small.

As he thought about a small smile began to spread, chuckling a bit to himself as he shook his head. It was a little silly to think about it, but he explained as he followed her around the shop, "yeah, she was like obsessed with ladybugs when she was younger .. Like anything with a red background and black dots she went crazy over," he smiled. It was a simpler time indeed. "She wasn't really feeling safe around me, but she would tolerate me sitting in the garden with her," he explained. Him and Nyx had a complicated relationship to say the least, but it probably stemmed from the environment they were in. "So one year when she turned seven I got her a watering can in the shape of a ladybug; Like the dots on the wings, even the little legs," he scoffed, looking up at some knickknacks on the shelf he was standing by, "I don't think she realized that it was the first time she had giggled when I was around." It was clearly a fond memory to him, but it was also sad in a way. Even his family members he couldn't share anything intimate with, not even something as simple as a hug. "She watered the whole lawn that day, even when it started raining."

Ladybugs? She chuckled a little as it was not exactly what she had expected, but then again, she didnt know an awful lot about Nyx. She hadnt really had the chance to get to know her. Would she be able to do that at some point? She wondered. It was a sweet story. She liked it a lot, because it was nice to know that he had good memories even when everyone seemed to be scared of him. "I could imagine that she would fill the watering can proudly every time." she chuckled as she looked at him with a small smile. She took the statue from the shelf to inspect. It was quite sturdy. She could imagine that it wouldnt really break easily, though she wouldnt put it to a test. "What do you think of this?" she asked, before she looked at it. "It could be anywhere when it's so small. And it fits ugly just fine." she said, not sure why she was so set on it needing to be ugly. Maybe just to be sure that it would stand out.

He chuckled, nodding as she imagined correctly, "though if she finds out I told snyone, she would most probably smother me in my sleep," he said with a smile on his lips. He was exaggerating, but she would definitely be furious with him. She had picked out a small weighted figure and he had to admit it wasn't pretty at all. "I think she will hate it .. but love it because you gave it to her," he ar least couldnt imagine anyone not remembering the person who would give that gift to someone. He leaned down, kissing her cheek gently, "buy it for her," he encouraged her, smiling against her skin because he simply couldn't help himself. While she went to go pay he looked around the store, inspecting some trinkets until he found a peculiar object that he bought and had wrapped, hopefully without Emily noticing. He grabbed the bags, smiling at Emily as they headed outside on the streets once more. "We should also remember to get Dez some new food .. I don't think he smells very nice after only eating that tuna stuff," he chuckled.

“She wont find out.” Emily promised, smiling softly. If she made it clear that he could tell her anything in confidence, then she would probably get more cute stories? She showed him the statue and as he said she would hate it, Emily wasnt sure that was what she wanted to hear. But it meant Mary would remember her? His kiss made her smile at him softly, his encouragement making her eyes light up a little. She went and did that before she went to find him again. He handled the bags and she rolled her eyes a little while muttering a smart comment about him being such a gentleman. She entangled their fingers this time and hummed at his words. “Yeah. Maybe it’s time to get him actual cat food.” She chuckled. Next on her list was getting something for Jason, that she knew he could eat. “Is there some place special you’d want to move to?” She asked, because she wasnt too sure. She didnt want to live in South, that was all she knew. And Northern wasnt really a good option with her friends and family. In the midst of her thoughts her eyes landed on something that just made her stop in her tracks. A sign that said “open house, 3rd floor”. She clearly considered it.

He hummed, "I guess Central would be optimal, it's close to everything, especially if you plan to enroll for studies," he pondered. He wasnt really stuck on someplace where he didn't want to live, but they also had to keep in mind what needs they would have. She stopped suddenly, and his eyes moved around to see what could've made her break so easily. A smile crept up on his lips as he saw the sign, "I guess there's no harm in looking inside," he said, taking the first step and pulling her with him inside the apartment complex. It was a decent place at least, nothing too fancy, but he was also looking from the safety aspect of things a bit more. Those brutes had so easily gotten in to his old apartment, and he wasn't risking getting a wake up call like that anytime in the future.

He took the first step and it made her quite happy. She just followed along, and it didnt look too bad without being inside. She liked the fact that there were at least two rooms, but then again, she wasnt very picky. “Could you imagine us here?” She asked, moving around to look things through. There was nothing odd about this place. Nothing to fix or worry about, or at least it seemed so. She moved over to look out the window, before she turned to him. “I really like this one.” She had to admit. There were just so many things in it that she already imagined.

He hummed, not sure if he could. It was a nice place, and it seemed like she was rather excited about this apartment. He was looking through a small folder that he had picked up about the apartment and what it cost. Pretty decent, nothing he couldn't handle, though there was something in it that he found made it less attractive. Emily's admittance made him smile, though it didn't really reach his eyes. He just came over, handing her the folder that was flipped on the page about pets. No pets allowed. "It wouldn't be our home without room for Dez," he just said, sending her a slight smile, wanting to comfort her, but there were so many other places that they could find and live in. It made sense that with how well everything in the apartment was that they wouldn't want roaming pets in them. "We should keep looking," he said, not wanting to discourage her.

He didnt quite seem to share the same happiness as her and she didnt notice right away but it wasnt like she was oblivious. When he handed her the folder and he looked at it along with his words, she scoffed, double checking just to be sure. Well. Maybe it wasnt that great after all. “Oh. I mean, no, no, this place is really terrible, bad neighbourhood and I’m pretty sure that dark spot over there is hiding mold.” She said as if it wasnt that big a deal, though it kind of was. But it wasnt like she would give up the cat for anything in the world. “It’s fine. I dont want to be in a house that wont have Dez as well.” She said, and meant it. The alley cat was not supposed to go back to being an alley cat. The encouragement made her chuckle. “I’m not demotivated. I still want to find some place to be with you and our grumpy furbaby.” She smiled.

"Grumpy furbaby," he repeated in a soft chuckle, reaching out to touch her cheek. It was a shame that this apartment was shit, because the light from the windows made her look so radiant. Eventually they went out of the apartment, walking down the street he just kept holding her hand. "You know ... I really think that we should consider all the options," he said, humming softly as he thought of how to phrase it without possibly hurting her. He knew he had to beware his words. "By that I mean; I wouldn't mind looking for apartments that isn't for rent, but for sale," he suggested. Most real estate in town was going up in price anyways, and it wasnt like he was lacking money.

All options? She looked as confused as she felt. What did he mean by that? He seemed to think his words through before he spoke and when he elaborated, she needed a moment to realize what he was even suggesting. For sale? She blinked a few times with a puzzled expression. “All apartments are for sale.” She argued like she didnt quite get the point that he meant actually buying an apartment over renting it.

"Never mind," he smiled, if she didn't object then it wouldn't be a problem later on - or so he hoped. He just gave her hand a soft squeeze before they continued on with their tasks. Next on the list was getting some food for Jason. He knew the guy would be stubborn as hell so they got him a simple sandwich as well as something for him to bring to Nyx. Rhys would always be a stern but worried big brother to her, wouldn't he? Of course with that came thw conflict of him being a leader and having to punish her, but it seemed that the two of them knew what it take for them to succeed. He had always admired that about Nyx. Even faced with an arranged marriage, she seemed so optimistic and good about it. They were standing in a petstore, looking around the cat section. "Do you think he'd like salmon or tuna best?" He asked, feeling like he couldn't make such a decision. They should probably also get him a proper scratch post as well for his claws.

Emily did end up getting him something extra as well. For all she knew, he hadnt really been eating and she was far too caring to ignore that gut feeling. In the petstore it was like the options were endless. Collars in every colour you could imagine, little cute body straps for leashes. But it was better to just focus on getting food foremost. Though Rhys’ question was a good one. Sure, they could get him tuna, bur what if it didnt taste as good as the canned they gave him? “I think we should try the salmon. He knows what good tuna tastes like, and we dont know if he’s a picky eater now that he doesnt live on the street anymore.” She said before she let her eyes move over onto the toy section. “He doesnt really have any toys…” she said like she was considering it quite a lot.

He agreed with the tuna part. They weren't sure if he had gotten a taste for the finer things, but this was premium dry foods regardless. Besides it had to be healthier for him with all that metal found in tuna, right? Either way they picked the salmon one. She pondered the situation about a toy for him and he hummed, but holding both the cat beds and the food he could do very little to reach out and touch the different kinds. "Pick him something different .. We don't know what he likes yet, so a small assortment wouldn't be too bad," he smiled, leaning over to kiss the top of her head as he walked down to the till. When she had found the toys she wanted he payed for everything cash and had gotten a few bags for them to carry the things easier. He was kinda glad they hadn't taken the motorcycle as that would prove a problem with all this stuff. However he didn't mind carrying it. Once outside again he looked up to the sky, darker clouds looming in the distance, but they couldn't expect the weather to be perfect always. "Better hurry up and beat the rain to it," he said, letting her hold the bag with the gifts, food for Jason as well as the cat toys while he took the rest.

She wouldnt just be able to settle on just a few toys so it was good that he told her that she could just pick different things. She did and hoped that a few would peak the cat's interest. Maybe over time? He paid for everything which she wasnt too sure what she thought of. It wasnt like she didnt have money herself. They got out on the street and she noticed the change in weather too. "Yeah, I wouldnt like any of this to get wet." she sighed, taking the bags that he handed her before they went on their way back. The rain did however catch up to them and by the time they were back, Emily was sure that she was drenched from the shoulders and slowly down. "Geez. Spring weather." she scoffed, putting down the bags, helping him with where to put the rest of the things they had bought. Jason was still sleeping on the couch and she wondered if it was a good idea to even wake him. But he needed a shower before he could go anywhere, so she went over to tap his shoulder.

Rhys felt wet, but luckily he had worn his leather jacket so it was mostly his pants and the parts of his shirt that was exposed. He stored the food away in the cabinet where they had kept the tuna as well - just as to not ruin any more of the cabinets. "It's not too bad .. Look out now," he chuckled as the rain was actively pouring down worse than when they had been outside. He chuckled, taking off his jacket before walking to her. If she was fiddling with her wet clothes he would simply pull her in by her hips, a hand moving up to move some of her wet hair out of her face. "I might have a crazy idea," he muttered softly, pulling her with him to the back exit of her apartment that lead out to a small shared garden. It wasn't well kept or anything, but in the pouring rain it didn't matter. He must've looked crazy like this, but he pulled her in, kissing her tenderly as the rain fell upon them. They must've looked either liked drowned rats or perhaps a still taken out of a sappy romantic movie. Breaking the kiss he chuckled, looking around at how the world was from out in the rain before moving his eyes back to hers. "I feel like all proper couples need a real kiss in the rain, don't you think?"

Yeah it was way worse now, and she frowned as she looked out on it. She only looked for a bit before she wanted out of her wet clothes but then he came over. She thought he would help but instead he pulled her in to which she was about to object until he muttered of a crazy idea. She followed his pull and they ended out in the back that was definitely just left to grow freely. The rain definitely was worse than when they had been going and she wasnt sure why he had brought her outside. He kissed her and she kissed him back, though his intentions seemed unclear. He broke the kiss and she looked a little confused until he told her what the idea of going out here had been. She felt a little foolish because it made sense. But then she looked at him with softer eyes. “I think it’s a loving embrace before the kiss in the movies.” She chuckled, lifting her arms to wrap around his neck. “Kiss me again Rhys.” She requested almost sweetly.

Her addition was welcome, feeling her arms around him he wrapped his around her in return, chuckling at her request. Lifting her up, he spun her around in the rain before pulling her face down in to a kiss. He stopped spinning, indulging in her lips, letting himself feel just how amazing this moment was. He wasn't afraid of getting cold, not when she already had him so hot and bothered just for her. "I love you," he whispered longingly against her lips, kissing her again before he lost his footing and fell backwards. He hit the ground, his arms still around her and having managed to pull her with him. Laughing out loud he hugged her close before lifting her face to look at him. Shielding his face from the rain, he took her in as she was right now, never wanting to forget it even for a second. "Now it's your turn to kiss me."

She gasped a little surprised as he swung her around, holding onto him though she chuckled as the fear of falling passed. She followed his pull but could already feel that she wasnt that sure on her own legs. He kissed her and she returned it happily. His whisper made her stpmach tingle and she would have said it back if he didnt kiss her. He fell and dragged her with him down, she didnt react until they were on the ground, before she laughed with him. He lifted her face as she still giggled, looking at him with joy in her eyes as she was pretty sure that the both of them were more than soaked now. “Yeah, I guess it is.” She muttered, gently cupped his face with one hand, the other moving up into his curls, touching his scalp. She leaned down to connect their lips. She was tender and yet sweet, moving her lips slowly over his. “Are you two alright?” An upstairs neighbour asked from her window. Emily started blushing and giggled before she sat up, pulling at Rhys to follow. “Yeah. It’s just so slippery in the rain.” She said, looking up at the neighbour with a small smile. “Okay. Be careful.” She said before closing her window again.

Rhys just held on to her as she leaned in to kiss him. His stomach fluttering with butterflies as their tender kiss slowly transformed in to a slight steamy make out session. However of course the neighbors were going to interrupt. Didn't anyone have a life in this city!? She pulled away, and he felt bitter and slight frustration towards this nosy neighbor, but there wasn't much he could do as Emily replied. As the neighbor closed the window he groaned softly as he had gotten to his feet. "When we get our own place I don't want to share a garden with anyone," he muttered, looking down at her as his eyes softened. They had had a proper couple moment just then, and that nosy woman had interrupted it. "I guess we'll have to make up for the whole rain thing later when we're alone?" he smiled a little teasingly, leaning down to steal a kiss before pulling her with him back in to the apartment.

It was quite easy with Rhys to just follow along. And he seemed to need her so she would just quite easily give in. They ended up making out and she could feel her heart beat faster as her cold cheeks began to gain some colour as well as warming up. When they were stopped, she was panting softly, and once they were left alone again and on their feet, his remark made her chuckle. “I dont think it’s possible to live in central and have your own garden too.” She had to say. The city was just far too crammed for one apartment to own a whole garden like that. Unless they werent looking for apartments? “Yeah, we will.” She agreed before his kiss surprised her as it was quite a steal, before she followed his pull inside. She was getting out of her wet clothes, luckily having some extra towels in her wardrobe as Jason was showering. Drying her hair she hummed softly at some thoughts. “Maybe I should go down to the local bar and apply for a job there. They had a sign out the other day. It doesnt seem like they care much for who they take in. And I’m pretty.” She said, quite clearly already considering it if not set on applying just to see if she would get it.

Getting inside Rhys gladly accepted the towel, though he did strip down first to his underwear, drying his body off relatively easy before using the towel to soak up most of the water from his clothes. Her idea wasn't bad, though he had to admit he didn't like her hanging out in a bar like that. Besides it wasn't the best hours she could have there. However he also wanted to be supportive in a way that wouldn't make him a total asshole. "Won't it be hard working nights if you have classes during the day?" he asked, just to make sure she had considered it all. Of course nobody said she would have to stick around at that job when she got back into school. Walking to her he helped her out of her soaked shirt, taking her towel to help her dry off. He knew she was fully capable, but it was a nice excuse to touch more of her. "I know I have nothing to say about what you do for work or basically whatever you do with your life .. But you're already at risk just being with me and I guess I would feel better if you picked something where you could work during the day," he said, unsure if she was going to get angry with him. He sighed, shaking his head no, cupping her face as he looked at her with rather vulnerable eyes. "I thought I had lost you once and I don't think I could handle it a second time," he admitted. She could do what she wished to do, but he wanted her at least to weigh out the pros and cons. Leaning in he kissed her gently.

She shrugged at the question. “I dont think it would be too bad.” She argued. She hadnt really been doing much else before she had taken the chance and asked for the job at Mortimer’s shop. So if she was a little busier than usual, that would only be good right? As he helped her undress and dry off, she looked at him, noticing that he didnt look like he at all liked her idea. It made her curious. He explained himself and while it was true that he couldnt dictate what she did, she would like to hear what he thought. Even if he was rather protective of her no matter what she did. But then he looked at her vulnerable and said something that made her feel maybe a little shameful of disregarding what had happened in her brainstorm. He leaned in to kiss her and she returned the kiss. Breaking it off after a while she sighed. “No, you’re right. It was insensitive of me to just blurt out after everything’s that’s happened. I wont work at a bar.” She promised, lifting her hands to place over his.
