| He hummed as the lycan wanted no tears. The bite seemed clean despite the mess it had clearly left with the vampyre in some kind of unknown yet not dying state. But Romeo not wanting the food made the nurse frown. Even as the lycan told him to look his file over. “I think we’re out of those. But I could have porridge made for you? It will be easy to eat and far more nutritious than a protein shake.” He said, not quite ready to compromise actual food over a protein drink. Especially not when the lycan would really need the food, no matter what the file would say. Maybe a cruel way to handle it but it was with best interest in mind. |

| "Please!" he raised his voice in desperation. How could he possibly eat anything now!? He shook his head, taking a few deep breaths to calm down, "please just look at my file," he said, not liking having to plead with the staff but he couldn't eat. "Either the protein drinks .. Or I won't eat, alright," he said, turning his attention back on Eden, giving the vampyre's cold hand a squeeze. "I can't eat .. I can't eat .. I can't eat," he muttered softly, leaning his forehead down to rest against Eden's hand as he started to sob. He knew that it was bad for him to not eat, but his head just wouldn't allow him to. It wasn't something he could just magically switch off even after what they had gone through. The mind was fickle and hard to understand sometimes. "Please don't force me to eat." |

| The way Romeo raised his voice had a negative effect on the nurse. He saw the reaction as maybe a bit rude but he stayed professional about it as he looked at him. “Fine. Protein drink.” He said a little dry compared to how neutral he had been. The mutter made him raise an eyebrow but he didnt react. He went to check on Eden’s tubes for a last time, before he left them to go find that protein drink. And also the lycan’s file so he could figure out why Romeo had had such a hard reaction to the prospect of eating. He would apologize later when he brought him the protein drink.
The days went by and Eden just seemed to be in a state now that wasnt changing. He didnt look good in the way his veins were showing under the pale skin, but he still wasnt withering. And they kept giving him fresh blood in the hopes of flushing his system. Eventually he was moved out of the ICU as they could just conclude that his current state was stable and stagnant. At least it wasnt worth to keep him in a spot at the ICU when he was practically just in a coma and only needing being fed to not starve. They couldnt even check if the blood had affected his head in any way. Vampyres were the worst patients to deal with in regards to assessing the damage. |

| The days passed, and as the rooms were moved, Romeo wasn't sure what to say or do. He was lucky that his therapist was willing to come and work with him at the hospital, and he had been given quite the freedom given the circumstances. He had started to eat again, though it wasn't too much, but his wounds were slowly starting to heal. He would sit and read for Eden, keeping him up with the news from the city to the stock market - even if it was boring and mundane, it was something that kept his spirits up. He hadn't given up hope. Not yet. His mother had of course confronted him with the prospects of taking over the firm, but for now she was running it for him. Just until he made up his mind, and she was actually doing a very decent job at keeping everything afloat. Though it was quite a mess to clean up after what Kurtis had done with it. Romeo was not even thinking of that right now. He just wanted to be with Eden. He had even been given a bed in his room because the nurses kept walking in to him sleeping in one of the chairs or on the floor. It was another day another visit. He came in with a bouget of roses, a flower that he knew Eden liked a lot. They were sorta romantic and perhaps not fitting for a hospital room, but that had never mattered to them. "I just felt like you needed some color in here," he said with a soft smile, adjusting the flowers so they stood just right. He sat down in a chair next to the bed, "I wanted to celebrate," he admitted. He lifted the vampyre's hand, kissing it softly, not bothered by how he looked, he was still his perfect husband to be. "I've gained weight again this week," leaning down to rest his chin against the bed, just looking at the vampyre, lifting his hand up to let him feel his hair. "I even ate a piece of avocado earlier." He wished that Eden could celebrate this together. |

| The vampyre wasnt really that responsive except for the faint finger movement whenever Romeo would touch his hand the first time. The doctors just brushed it off as some kind of instinctive reaction to the warmth radiating off Romeo’s skin compared to Eden’s cold skin. They at least assured the lycan that it was best not to keep up any hopes. It was only luck that Eden hadnt died. It didnt mean that he would ever wake up again. Some of the staff did feel bad for the lycan. Seeing him come in and talk to the vampyre in a slumber. The nurse from the ICU came in, looking a little saddened as he looked to the lycan sitting there. He came over, pulling the tubes from Eden to put in new ones. The good thing about the blue veins was that it as least was easy to plug him up to fresh blood. But he wouldnt put in the new tubes right away. “Goodday Mr. Trevino-Altera. There will be staff coming in in a bit to clean him up a little. Vampyres dont get dirty, but they do get dusty.” He sighed. It was better to keep him clean than have dust build up on the cold marble skin that looked more like actual marble with the white and blue. |

| Hearing someone enter didn't deter him from how he was resting and talking to Eden. He could talk about anything and everything really. How his therapist visit had gone. How he was thinking of taking over the firm left for him. Even delving in to future plans they had like the fact that he had been browsing apartment sites. Anything to keep him from facing the thought that Eden might be stuck like this forever. But it didn't matter, did it? He had his husband right here. He had him and could hold him, even if it wasn't the same, he hadn't lost him yet. The nurse spoke and he sighed, straightening his back as he sat up. He had been allowed to place Eden's ring back on the vampyre's cold finger, and for that he had been very grateful. "That might be a good idea," he just said. He did do his best to wipe off Eden's face every now and again. And he wasn't afraid of kissing him. "He seems to be in a good mood today," he said, with a soft smile. Of course the emotions he couldn't really register. It was just a feeling he had deep down. He got up, kissing Eden's forehead gently, whispering sweetly against his skin how much he loved him and that he would be right back. |

| The comment about the vampyre’s mood confused the nurse. Could Romeo really still read his emotions? Or was he just slowly losing his mind? The nurse didnt feel it was his place to conclude, but he did worry. A second nurse would enter with a rolling board, while the other opened the vampyre’s shirt. They had put clothes on him. But it was basically just to cover him up somewhat. None of it had any back so they didnt have to lift him. And his skin couldnt get strangled over time so they could keep him just laying in the same position forever if they had to. The vampyre was washed and cleaned before they gave him new clothes. But then the female nurse stopped and pointed to a spot on his skin. The other nurse pulled the emergency handle and a few doctors came in to see. It didnt seem good. “We’ll have to cut him up and drain it.” One demanded. If Romeo returned, the nurse would stop him in the door. “I’m sorry, you’ll have to stay back.” He told him as it probably would be a distressing sight. They did have to cut deep into the vampyre, draining some sort of liquid that looked like bad blood. “It’s spreading and his muscles are reacting.” The doctor said, to which they had to hold the vampyre down while his body began tensing and squirm lightly, clearly in pain. Just a bodily reaction to the infection one said. |

| Romeo returned, hoping to just go in and sit with him again, but he was stopped, seeing nurses and doctors running in and out of the door. His eyes started to well up as he panicked a bit. Stay back? He shook his head, forcing himself in there, smelling the blood immediately but he didn't care. He went to Eden's side, grabbing his hand as he was tensing and squirming. "Stop hurting him," he pleaded, feeling the pain through his skin, but he would let go. "I'm here, baby, I never left, I'm right here," he kept repeating. They would have to force him away, because he wasn't leaving him behind. If he was going to die, he wouldn't want the vampyre to be alone. He was the love of his life, not just somebody who could die alone. "I know it hurts, baby, I know, but they have to do this," he tried whispering to him soothingly, but he had no idea if what he was doing was even helping at this point. He just knew he couldn't leave him. |

| The lycan went ahead and the doctors wasnt even sure how to react. The vampyre squirmed and even drew in a sharp pained breath but then as the blood began clearing up, the pain seemed to stop as well. They closed the wound and simply wrapped it as he would heal on his own. The healing was weird because they had found out that keeping his arm open for inspecting didnt change that the skin just healed regardless. So they had taken off the device and now once in a while had to cut him up to check his current state. They left once Eden seemed to go back to his never-changing state, some of them still in shock that he wasnt just dying. One doctor was real impatient. Cant he just die so someone else could have the space? The amount of poison was double the lethal dose she hissed in annoyance. Eden wasnt some medical miracle. He was just a vampyre in slumber, that for all they knew was just an empty shell now. And yet there was that touch whenever Romeo grabbed his hand. |

| As Eden began to relax again he felt relieved, kissing the vampyre's hand, muttering sweet nothings into his skin. As the doctors patched him up and were about to leave he overheard the female doctor's hiss. He stood up, still holding Eden's hand. "Are you suggesting he's a waste of space?" he asked, looking directly at the female doctor who had suggested just that. "Do you think he isn't fighting for his life right now? You think he isn't doing everything he can to get back to me?" His eyes were welling up again, tears falling down his cheeks. "I intend to marry this man, you hear me?" he wasn't raising his voice, but he was rather firm and hard in his tone, "so if you have given up on him, you are more than welcome to leave right this second." He was defending not only Eden's right to be here, but also the fact that everyone besides him had seemingly given up on the man he loved. "If it had been me in that bed you would've all fought hard to keep me alive because I'm a mortal and I'm too young to die," she couldn't even deny it, because it was the truth. Immortals were so rarely sick and when they were it was always so bothersome to the doctors and nurses. "So shut up, do your job, or find another, because I won't stand here and listen to your bitchy comments about my fiancé." |

| The female doctor stopped in her tracks as Romeo addressed her comment. It was kind of what she had been saying but it was just so frustrating that they were getting nowhere. The amount of blood it took alone to keep him from starving could have been spent on someone else, if he was going to die anyway. She looked at the lycan with a frown, not really saying anything even as he was quite clearly chastising her for her words. It was true that Romeo would have been treated differently but that was because they’d at least have more to work with. With Eden, it felt more like a gamble than actual medical work. “I wont lie to you Mr. Trevino-Altera. But I wouldnt get any hopes up for the vampyre to even wake up in your lifetime.” She just said, dusting off her coat as she may have been rather cold about it. She then just shook her head and sighed, before she left with the other doctors. |

| "Well even if he never wakes up I won't move from his side; He would do the same for me," he protested. Maybe he was going crazy, but he swore he could feel Eden in there. Holding his hand, talking to him, it just felt as normal as it could be right now. And he was getting better in regards to his eating disorder as well. He was sure he wouldn't have been able to do that if he had just stayed at the facility. No, he was here with Eden where he belonged. The doctors left and Romeo sat down in his chair, leaning over to kiss his cold cheek gently. "I know you're in there .. and I won't ever leave you," he whispered gently. If he lost hope, then there would be nothing left for him. Even if the whole world wouldn't believe him, he still believed in Eden's recovery. There was no question about it. "How about I read to you again, huh? You always seem more happy when you hear me talk," though again he couldn't be sure if it was actually Eden he felt or something his mind made up. Regardless it gave him hope he desperately needed. |

| Once they were left alone, Eden was still just laying there in his slumber, even if Romeo was talking to him. It wasnt known whether Romeo was reaching him or not, but it was a nice thought to believe that the vampyre wasnt gone. That he was also fighting this even if it wasnt visible or known. But later in the night, something weird happened. Eden’s hand suddenly tensed, and he seemed to be in pain again. There were no nurse or doctor to alert the others, while the vampyre was squirming and experiecing all that pain. His chest began heaving, as some sort of attempt of comforting the rest of the body, but it was odd. It hadnt been this way before. He hadnt been this bad before when it came to his body reacting to the infection. |

| Romeo had fallen asleep leaned over the vampyre's bed, holding his hand as a comfort to himself. Sometimes he wondered if he was being selfish by being here all the time. But after the doctor's comments today he wouldn't let himself spiral down that road. He was however awokened as something squeezed his hand, and very hard. He sat up, watching as Eden convulsed in pain. Was that the right term? He wasn't sure what to do, but managed to pull the emergency string, leaning over the vampyre, cupping his face. "I'm sorry baby, I'm sorry it hurts," he whispered, fighting to be close to him even if the vampyre was squirming in pain. What was the staff taking so long about!? He pressed his forehead to Eden's, sobbing softly. "I love you so much .. please .. let me take some of your pain," he whispered in a broken voice. This was scary and unheard of. He hadn't seen Eden behave like this before. Was there another spot that needed draining? "Don't you dare leave me behind .. I won't let you .. you're all I want," he pleaded as if the vampyre had any control in this matter. "Jeg elsker deg," he just needed Eden to hear that. Then he knew what Romeo meant. He would know, right? |

| It was hard on the vampyre, he seemed almost exhausted though his body reacted strongly. The doctors sure were taking their sweet time but it was in the middle of the night so there wasnt a full staff present. A doctor did eventually come in to which he frowned, seeing the vampyre having moved his arm around the lycan. Or had the lycan moved his arm around himself? “Did something happen before this?” He asked, removing the vampyre’s arm from the lycan to begin a checkup for any spots to drain. But it seemed there were none. The vampyre was just in pain and there was no way to figure it out. It had to be somewhere inside of him in which they couldnt do much. Sure they could cut him open and look but like hell would the lycan had liked or approved of it. |

| Romeo had been so worried, and then he felt the arm around him. His eyes produced more tears, but he wasn't sure whether to be happy or scared. So as the doctor entered to do a check up he felt a little nervous, the question made him shrug, unsure what had done it. He had told Eden something special, but he didn't feel like he could say it out loud. It was just something for each other to hear, not anyone else. Like a secret that they had. "I was asleep and woke up to him squirming and squeezing my hand," he said, trying to recall everything that had happened so fast, "I told him how I loved him .. how help was on the way." It wasn't really a lie, was it? He looked to Eden as there was nothing that could be done, and cutting him open seemed so barbaric. Surely there were greater methods available, right? He sat down again, holding Eden's hand, trying to dry his cheeks off with his free hand. "I know none of you believe me; you probably all think I'm crazy," he said to the doctor, just looking at Eden as he treasured every moment he got to have with him. "But I can feel him .. I swear that I can, but it's like he's behind some glass wall so everything is very faint," Romeo knew Eden very well, so he knew where to look for deep and hidden emotions. Of course it wasn't perfect and it didn't work all the time, but he knew that Eden knew he was here. "He's going to come back to me .. he promised me that he would always come back." |

| The doctor listened and hummed, looking at the vampyre, checking his vitals, though he seemed quickly to remember that vitals didnt exist on a vampyre. He touched his skin and concluded that there was no withering. Would the vampyre just be stuck like this for the rest of his days. The doctor stood for a bit, thinking while he was listening to what Romeo had to say. “I’m sure you can feel him.” The doctor muttered, unsure if he was feeding into the delusions of a distressed spouse or that Romeo actually felt something. He drew in a short breath before he shook his head. “Dont be afraid to pull it again if something happens.” He said, but nothing else would happen that night.
It was the evening after that really turned everything. While Romeo was having his therapy, two of the doctors had had enough. They had some of the drainage that had been removed from Eden. It was like dead blood. It couldnt be worse for a vampyre, the decay in the blood that had been killed off by lycan poison. It was maybe worse than lycan blood. “It’s for his own good. And that poor lycan.” One whispered to the other, readying the syringe. She stuck it in his chest, rather close to the mark on his chest before she emptied it. Stepping away, she felt horrible. “It was necessary.” The other reminded her. They werent bad people, were they? |

| Romeo was talking to his therapist about everything going on, and she encouraged him to take a breather. He seemed very pent up about everything, but she had to commend him for getting better in regards to his weight. Though she was delicate about it, not wishing to send the lycan into some fit. Once the session was over, Romeo grabbed something quick and easy to eat before heading back to the room. But the sight that met him horrified him. Two doctors were standing a bit away from Eden, a syringe in hand and he growled at them. "What's going on in here?" he demanded to know, pulling the emergency string as he kept the doctors back. He wasn't going to let these monsters get away. "What did you do to him!?" he screamed. |

| The doctors hadnt expected to get caught so when Romeo was there demanding to know what they had done, one froze while the other looked more stern. It had been the lady who had made the vile comment. “Saved him a lifetime of anguish and pain being stuck to a bed.” She just said, looking at the vampyre with a frown. The blood was slowly spreading from his chest, making his veins darker as they travelled. It was probably a scary sight. The rest of the doctors came rushing and once they found out what happened, the police was contacted. There wasnt much they could do for Eden beside hope that hos body could fight off the blood too. But his condition worsened from that point out. When the blood had passed through his whole body, he began bleeding, from his eyes from his nose, his mouth too. And vampyres didnt just bleed. They were sure at one point that this was it. He probably wouldnt make it as they deemed that his body was starting to show hints of a beginning wither. It was a whim. But if they were right then he wouldnt make it. His appearance however, for a moment went back to being so beautiful. Like a sleeping beauty. The doctors however meant that that meant he was dying. They insisted that the lycan just said his goodbyes while the vampyre looked normal. Because the sight that were to come was too horrible to behold. All while they spoke, all looking at Romeo while they were most probably breaking his heart, didnt notice that Eden slowly opened his eyes. |

| Everything was so scary. And Romeo could do nothing! He felt so worthless, so desperate for any help that he wouldn't listen to the doctors anymore. He couldn't wrap his head around losing Eden. It wasn't an option. It wasn't even plausible if you asked the lycan. At first things seemed so dark that he could barely handle the news the doctors broke. He looked down as he started to cry, "he can't leave me," he sobbed, his heart breaking as he shook his head no. He wouldn't leave him for a second. Withering or not, he would always be his Eden. "And I can't leave him .. not after what you have done to him," he said, grasping at his sleeves to comfort himself. That was final. They couldn't force him to stay away from him, and perhaps in the back of his mind he was already planning some rather dark actions. He couldn't be left behind. He would rather die with him than be left alone on this planet. And he would have to come to terms with that as well, that the world no longer had any meaning without the vampyre in it. Of course the doctors couldn't understand. Their love wasn't something many people ever got to experience in their lifetime. He didn't hear any change in the vampyre, just sitting there and crying softly as he couldn't wrap his mind around this being real and not some cruel nightmare. |

| Eden felt rather disoriented, in pain, unsure of what was going on and what had happened. He was supposed to die! He saw Romeo crying, he could see that he was in a hospital. He groaned from how stiff he felt and how his body was burning. He felt like he couldnt quite be in his body and yet he was still alive. “R…” he tried, feeling as if there was sandpaper attached to his vocal chords. He coughed up blood. |

| The world seemed to stop turning as soon as he heard a hoarse yet familiar voice. He turned just in time to see Eden throw up and he stumbled to his feet hurrying to his side. "Eden," his voice broken as he grabbed his hand, wanting to help but he didn't know why. He turned his head to look at the doctor, "don't just stand there .. help him," he was a doctor, but it seemed that all of the staff was incompetent. He turned back to look at Eden, kissing his forehead as he sobbed softly. He was awake. He was alive. "I'm right here, I never left, I promised I would never leave you," he whispered against his cold skin wishing he could do more than say soothing words. |

| Romeo hurried to his side and it was comforting to feel his hand. The doctors were speechless and Romeo’s demand almost wasnt heard. They moved and went on to check the vampyre. It wasnt supposed to be. At least not for years. Eden sighed deeply before he grit his teeth in pain, squeezing Romeo’s hand. He then remembered what Josette had done, what Avila had done to Romeo and he looked at the lycan before he moved a trembling hand up to check his neck. Even if he was in pain, he wanted to see what he had done to him. But a doctor grabbed his hand, telling him to save his strength and it made him sad. Even when he was supposedly near death, he still wanted to make sure that Romeo was fine.
The doctors ran a few tests, asked Eden simple questions when he wasnt fighting off sudden fits of pain. It didnt make sense. Sure, Eden’s condition wasnt well, but he was supposed to be dead by now! No one knew what was going on with the vampyre. The dead blood should have been the nails to the coffin and yet it seemed to have woken him up. They made him drink blood and lots of it, to boost his healing. When he felt full they had him drink even more. Eventually he got frustrated enough to push the packet away, spilling blood all over himself. He grunted in annoyance, leaning back into the bed. He knew he had to get cleaned now but he wasnt even sure he could stand. If they would allow him to stand at all. |

| It hurt to see him like this, even as he could see the pieces fall to place in his eyes. He let him touch his shoulder which was still padded up. He was healing better, but a vampyre bite wasn't something you could so easily walk away from. Not when you had been so drained. Romeo urged him so save his strength, that everything was alright now.
The lycan didn't leave the room as the tests were going on. It was a miracle. But he expected nothing less. His Eden would always come back to him. Watching as the blood was spilled everywhere, he ordered the doctors out before grabbing the blanket and pulling it off of him as to not get blood on it. Then he jist calmly helped the vampyre undress, the clothes still being cut up in the back so it was relatively easy. "Lay still," he spoke to him softly as he began to wash him with a wet cloth and a towel. He didn't mind this. In fact he was happy as long as the vampyre was able to at least look at him. "So much has happened," he said, his eyes welling up a bit as he looked at Eden. Romeo looked like his face was finally starting to return to normal. The chain around his neck was gone, wearing the ring that tied him to Eden. Sure it would slip off occasionally, but wearing it brought him comfort. It gave him strength. "But the important part is that you're awake now," he said, drying off the vampyre's pale skin. Making sure to clean around his mouth as well so he wouldn't look so barbaric. "I'm so happy you didn't leave me," he admitted in a soft tremble, shaking a little as his fingers moved over Eden's torso, just caressing him and soothing his worrysome mind. "You saved me, Eden .. You got out the silver out of me in time .. They all say you should've died," he said, sniffling as he helped the vampyre into a new and clean shirt. |

| The doctors left by the lycan’s order and Eden looked at him with vulnerable eyes. The vampyre wasnt really good at being ill. But he were still as Romeo told him to, looking up at the lycan as he began cleaning him. As the hand slowly moved, he could feel how tge warmth radiated through the lycan’s skin. Eden was still rather confused about what happened but the lycan poison had broken his vocal chords. It had felt like he had been drinking lava but all the doctors had seemed so sure that he shouldnt even have been alive. He heard the lycan’s soft confession, lifting a hand to place over his. He would never leave him. Never if he could get to decide. “Mmm..-y slum..ber.. ho…r..ible.” He spoke low and his voice almost too hoarse to form proper sentences. But the doctors had tested him and it wasnt like the poison had affected his brain. He luckily wasnt brain damaged. He was helped into a new shirt. Once the shirt was on, he moved a little to the side, wanting the lycan to get in as well. His body felt old and it was aching when the sudden waves of pain didnt just pass by from time to time. The doctors said that he could be fighting that pain for the rest of his life. He had never felt this affected before. Not even the first infection had done so much to impair him. |
