Stay out of it

He was sweet about it and she felt quite happy that he wasnt digging into the why’s. Why she was weord, why she didnt eat? He seemed to just accept that she was the way she was.
She leaned her head back against his chest, also glancing up at the sky for a moment but the city was an interesting view. “Where would we go?” She asked, not quite answering his question yet. If he could sell a good suggestion to her, then she might say yes?

“Hmmm.” She hummed, thinking of where she would want to go. He went on to speak of a place they could go and she closed her eyes as she tried to imagine it. “No you’re nice to cuddle with.” She sighed to then hear what his thoughts were. “Am I the first you’d take out like that? Playing boardgames and go for walks?” She asked, opening her eyes before she looked up at him with a smile. She appreciated it quite a lot. How he was thinking of things they could do that wasnt just hooking up, because she had had enough of that in her old life. “What about work? Can you just take time off just like that?”

“Oh it’s someplace you own?” She asked a little surprised as she looked at him. She had just wondered if he had taken someone else on a date like that with a different motive. Though he seemed to quickly answer that and she chuckled softly. “I guess I should feel honored.” She remarked.
The notion of getting off from work easily was good. But as he returned the question, she wrinkled her nose. “I mean, in theory, he shouldnt have a problem with me going? I do work for free and he’s also quite sensible.” She said before looking up at him. “I’ll have to ask him.” She said, looking shortly at his lips before moving her head back to look at the view again. “Are you really not some kind of womanizer? Or like.. I dunno?” She then asked. He just seemed to know what to do and say. It did make her wonder?

Was she scared that he was seeing someone else? She shook her head looking at him. “How can I know?” She excused herself. Wasnt it reasonable? What had made her so different from any other girl? If anything she had been rude to him in the beginning. He entangled their fingers and she liked that. She looked up at him, listening to him explain himself. It did make a lot of sense when he put it like that. Their eyes met and his confession made her frown a little. She wouldnt say she was special in any regard.
He went on to speak more of his experiences and she hummed softly as she nodded. She could imagine that he wasnt exactly swarmed by good people in his line of work. But if he had, would he have been here? Maybe she should just see it as a good thing for her. “I’m sorry.” She said, giving his hand a soft squeeze. “I guess I just really do like you a lot. So my head wants me to like check you, make sure that this isnt just… I dont even know? Something that would hurt me in the end?” She sighed before she looked at him, her eyes a little vulnerable.

He was right but she had quite a lot of insecurities that had sprung up from her coming back to live again. Like whether she seemed too-corpse like or had any other undead related reasons for people not to like her. He told her not to apologize but she found that hard, especially because it was unreasonable for her to just doubt him. He asked her to ask away so she moved away to look at him better. He had told her to so she might as well get the worst bad thoughts out of the way? “Does it make you like me less that we havent kissed yet?” She then asked. Might as well get it out of the way. Though it wasnt just whether he liked her less. “Or does it bother you?” She quickly added, hoping that he understood what she meant by it. She was still holding onto his hand.

His answer was assuring though the thought would probably linger in the back of her mind until they had kissed. He mentioned what might put him off and she could understand that. She liked hearing his thoughts because it was nice to hear that he was also putting thought into it. “I mean it doesnt just have to be me kissing you. You can also kiss me if you feel the moment is right for it?” She pointed out.
“You are not the only one wanting it to be just right.” She chuckled, looking down for a bit with a small smile on her lips. No she was definitely crossing fingers for the perfect moment eventually. “The dates have been nice. I like getting to know you.” She admitted.

His confession was sweet. Was it because he really wanted to kiss her that bad? The remark she could sympathize with. But it was the same way the other way around now too? She really had consider what would be the perfect moment now. And pick it when it was available.
“Dont make that sound like a warning.” She said, tilting her head lightly while he removed some grass. When he wanted to ask something of her, she frowned but she was curious. And yet when he asked, she began chuckling; not because she found it weird or ridicolous. Or maybe that he was asking. “Yeah.” She put it simply with a sweet smile. “You can stay over.”

One more thing? She didnt want to worry but he wasnt really being very transparent with what he was asking for before he said it. When he however mentioned the cat and luring it into something, she realized that he was going to take it in. Or at least take care of it. Unless it was for a shelter. He however made that clear rather quick. “You would do that?” She asked, her eyes filled with almost adoration that he was being so considerate of something she cared about. She just found more and more things to like him for and it was a pretty good feeling. “Of course I’ll help. Yeah.”

“It will definitely be better. And it doesnt seem that bad… just needs someone who wants to take care of it. Or feed it.” She shrugged. When he said she would have to help, it was like a say less-moment for her. Of course she would help. She just let go of his hand to wrap her arms around him and hug him close. “Geez, if you keep going like this, I’ll end up falling for you pretty hard.” She scoffed, saying it into his shirt so it muffled a bit. Just to get it out, because it was true.

He didnt have to thank her because it went both ways didnt it? She just enjoyed lying here in his arms, being held and feeling the closeness he could provide. She didnt realize they had been laying there for a while until he mentioned how late it had gotten. She lifted her head and thought about his question. “We probably should.” She admitted, though he was keeping her a bit warmer, she could feel that her toes had gotten cold. She sat up and looked at him. “We’ve got a cat to catch.” She grinned.

She helped pack and as they headed back to his bike, she just had a good feeling in her stomach. She didnt even have a single thought or insecurity disturb this moment. Heading back home she told him as much as she knew. When they were back, she did feel a little wobbly on her legs but not as badly as the first time. “Okay. The door is unlocked, so you can just come in.” She said, touching his shoulder as she just felt a need to before she went to her apartment to unlock and enter. If he went to check on the cat, it would be gone, along with the box which wasnt a good sign.

She had quickly changed into a long sleeved turtleneck in a thinner fabric but it was covering her neck nicely. She also pulled into warm socks and turned up the heat a bit. When Rhys entered, she greeted him with a soft hello. He mentioned the cat being gone and she just frowned. “It’s gone?” She repeated, crossing her arms. His question however seemed to be the most sensible answer. Yeah. Who else could it be? “He didnt know about the cat until today.” She sighed, feeling quite worried now. “Oh no… what if they put it down?” She then said, feeling a little flustered by the notion alone.
