He rolled his eyes and smiled as she hit him, chuckling a little as he may have been a little forward with that one. He let her hold his arm and they continued to walk. The teasing question made him shake his head before he looked at her. “I have nothing but good intentions. I swear.” He assured her, though a kiss wouldnt be so bad would it? They got to the bar and a drink turned to another. He wondered if he would ever be able to get over the vampyre, but it seemed easier for every drink. As they stood outside and smoked, he felt her snuggle up to him, her giggle making him chuckle in return as he flicked his cigarette away. He reached down to cup her face before he leaned in to softly connect their lips. He had to admit to himself that as soon as his eyes closed, he was thinking of someone else and not the human girl he held so gently.

Joanna's lips were warm, relishing in the sweet kiss they were sharing right now. He seemed so sweet and gentle. "You don't have to worry; I don't break that easily," she chuckled, kissing him again. He was so strong and she felt so safe in his arms. Frankly she hadn't ever really been the type to make out in public, but with Joe it was just bound to happen, wasn't it? Breaking the kiss she giggled, "is this the time you truly come with me home to do more or?" She was being forward now, but it seemed like both of them seemed alright with it.
Passing them were a tall man, his hair auburn and dressed rather nicely. Frankly he looked exactly like Cesare from the back, but turning his head to look both ways before crossing the street it was clearly not. The man continued into the night and Joanna was pulling lightly at him, "hey you, do you think you had too much to drink?" She asked clearly a little worried.

“I dont wanna crush you.” He chuckled, to then return the kiss. It felt alright, but how he longed for the cold lips he had come to know. Feeling the big hands that would hold him like never before. It felt bitter. And yet he told himself that he just needed to replace the feeling. Forget it. Joanna broke the kiss off and he was panting ever slightly. Her forwardness was the push that he needed, but one step forward could fast turn to two backwards. Especially as the man passed them and in the corner of his eye, he almost believed it to be him. Though seeing someone else’s than Cesare’s face felt worse than had it been him. But it was probably good that it wasnt because Joe wouldnt have known what to do. He blinked a few times with a frown. Joanna’s worry made him snap back to reality. “I do think I’ve had a tad too much. Nothing a bit of water wont help though.” He then admitted, hugging her in close, just trying to forget the constant reminders that were around them. “Let’s go back to yours.”

Nika had had it with the cat after mouse games. There was a reason she hadnt stuck around for her family’s mistakes. So instead she decided to show up herself. Her multicolored eyes scanning the club to find the vampyre. He had to be here somewhere. She had even scratched up the sire that had been on her trail, bringing them along like some animal on a leash. The wounds were not the important part, it would heal. But surely there was embarrassment in being treated like a dog.

Joanna had just smiled a little, nodding as they headed off and back to her place. This was what she wanted at least, so it felt good to finally seal the deal in that way. Besides it wasn't like she had made it a secret that she had grown very fond of him, so much so that she didn't sense anything about this that was off.

Cesare had tried to just go back to normality. Throwing parties, going to clubs, and yet he hadn't stopped his search for the last vile vampyress. The music stopped as she entered the club with one of his sires that he had ordered to follow her trail once Sadie had gone with Benjamin. Cesare got up, multiple of his sires steaming towards him as they saw this twisted young vampyress who was clearly forgetting herself. "I see you've returned my sire to me," he said, gesturing for some of his other sires to take them to safety. They were all rightfully angry with this little brat, hissing at her as they took the sire with them.
Cesare then turned his attention back on Nika, "I somehow wish I could say it was good to see you again, Veronika," he said her name. Yeah, he had dug up a lot of shit about her now eradicated family. "So, I assume you're giving in?" He said, a few of his sires oh so ready to pounce on her and ending her life.

She let them have the sire back, not caring whether they hissed. It wasnt like she had killed it and returned it dead. Cesare spoke her name and she looked at him with a small frown. “Is it not? You’ve been looking for me quite intensely.” She remarked, looking at her nails before the question made her scoff. She sighed and began to walk closer, eyeing him as she was rather curious. “Where is your little human? I dont snell him here?” She asked, moving up as close as she could get to the elder. She reached out to touch his arms. “Did you kill a whole family string of vampyres for a human that you didnt even want in the end?” She added, her eyes simply curious but obviously she had figured out that the human had been more than just a source of sustenance for the elder.

Martin rightfully moved closer to Cesare to keep him safe, but the elder signalled for him to stand down. This wasn't his fight, not yet at least. He was calm and collected, even as the younger vampyress clearly had forgotten her manners once again. "The human has decided to go his own way," he spoke in a mannered tone, though he didn't have to extend that curtesy, he did so elegantly, "unlike your family, I do have morals and values - despite my age." Though it was clear that the closer she came the more his eyes turned darker. She touched his arm and he grit his teeth, moving out of her touch, "I guess I have a temper sometimes," he said. How was she so devoid of any emotions at all? "But I did make a promise to him, and perhaps I should be keeping it instead of wasting my breath on you." He said, tilting his head as he grabbed her arm, turning her around so her back was pressed against his front. His fingers were in her hair, the palms of his hands gripping around her jaw. He could so easily rip off her head and have his sires tear the rest of her. "I have never been one to back down from a promise, and your bloodline has already made me disappointed."

His own way? That wasnt very vampyre claim of him to just let the human go. His comment on her family made her chuckle. “I guess they did deserve it after all.” She shrugged. He moved out of her touch and she sighed. The mention of a promise made her narrow her eyes. “Or becuase you want that claim on him gone?” She asked before he pulled her in. “I brought a gift for you.” She said, looking ahead as she reached down her pocket. She pulled out a little cube with a liquid sealed in it. “It’s your little human.” She said, though it was glowing. Currently a faint pink hue. The colour of love. It quite clearly displayed emotions. “Oh, someone is having their fun right now. I have kept track on him. That blonde girl can really make him laugh. I guess laughter is not the only thing they share tonight?” She said, knowing she was being vile. But she wasnt even done yet.

He didn't answer her. He didn't owe her anything but to rip her head off and be done with it. But then she mentioned a gift and he felt confused. Seeing the small cube he was even more so, but as she started to mention the human sharing something with another, a blonde that made the human laugh? His grip tightened, small cracks echoing through the silent club. It seemed that everyone just waited for him to do it. "He can do whatever he pleases," he said calmly, though his heart was breaking he wouldn't show it to her. He didn't care for her games anymore. "Any final words?" He hissed in her ear, as she probably felt the pressure of his hands slowly pushing in against her skull. A mortal skull would've already broken in two, but a vampyre was more durable.

She could feel how his grip tightened. That was what she deemed to be him reacting to her cruelty. She slipped the cube down his pocket just to make sure he kept it. “I’m sure he’s pleasing her right now quite alright.” She chuckled, not really struggling against the vampyre’s grip. His hiss in her ear made a large grin spread on her face, even as he began pushing her skull in slowly but surely. “Could you do it if I was him?” She whispered and it was like in a blink of an eye, was it his dear Benjamin looking up at him with eyes full of sadness. Where Nika had been void, was now full of emotion as the illusion played out. It was nothing but a trick of the eye but that was also the purpose. She lifted a hand as Benjamin and placed it against the vampyre’s face. “Crush me. You can do it.”

Cesare grit his teeth at the question. She wasn't him, that was the whole point. Then he saw the face of the man he loved, his grip loosening a little, especially as the hand touched his cheek. But what took him out of the illusion was the fact that the hand wasn't warm at all. "You're not him," he just said before he grabbed harder around her, "and your life ends now." With that he pressed her skull in, the crack making the sires cheer as he threw the lifeless body on the floor. His sires ripping her apart, staking her heart before they brought it out to burn the remains. Cesare stumbled back, sitting down where he had been before she entered, and empty look in his eyes as the music started up again. He didn't enjoy killing. Well this was an exception. He had kept his promise to the human who would soon see his scar heal. He had really done it. He hadn't failed him this time.
It wasn't until later, when he was washing his hands that he noticed the cube in his pocket. The mocking words of the vampyress playing in his head. Was Benjamin truly with someone else right now? He had to grit his teeth, spraying water in his face before looking at himself in the mirror. He needed to stop this. He needed to just move on as well, though he seemed to not be able to let go of the cube, keeping it in his pocket. Besides it wasn't like he lacked in suitors.
Eventually he had found a rather sweet vampyress. One that his sires seemed to like as well. They all seemed excited at the prospect of their master finally settling down somewhat. However they didn't know how he still longed for the heat of the human's touch. He had kept the cube, and on lonely nights he would sit with it, watching when it would grow pink and he knew the human was spending time with someone else. And that he could never be that. "Stop moping and go out on town with me," Diana said, wrapping her arms around him from behind, kissing his neck, chuckling as she bit his neck playfully. "I'm not in the mood," he argued, but it seemed that the vampyress took no for an answer. He eventually gave in, getting dressed and popping the cube back in his pocket. Diana never asked about it, and he felt grateful for that.
They went out and she was holding onto his arm, giggling and talking about everything and nothing. He had to admit he felt quite lucky with Diana. She was sweet and understanding. She gave him space when he needed it and she wasn't a selfish lover either. "Come here," he muttered, grabbing her face and leaning down to kiss her lips, making her smile happily as she reciprocated and sighed into his mouth.

The cube went in all assortment of colours. Whenever Joe was happy, the colour was glowing bright and yellow, when he was angry would it be red, sad was blue, love pink. But whenever he seemed to relax and not necessarily bubbling with emotion was it lighting up in grey. But it also became apparent that there was a darkness around it that would slowly grow day by day. He was out working tonight at a bigger club. After the mark on his shoulder had mysteriously disappeared had he dared to take jobs at crowded places, thinking that he didnt have to worry about being attacked by vampyres any longer. He had been calling Joanna during his break to talk. If she was still up by the time he got off, then he would like to swing by and say hi. He however returned to his spot once the break was over to check id’s and let people in. That was when he caught a glimpse, recognizing him right away. Yet seeing him with a woman did make his heart hurt. But was it fair to be jealous? Hadnt he done exactly the same?
He just shook his head and continued to do his job. It looked like they were passing either way.

PostSubject: Re: The everyday monsters in our lives   The everyday monsters in our lives - Page 20 EmptyWed Aug 17, 2022 11:16 am

Joanna had reacted positively to him stopping by. She had even given him a key, seeing as she lived closer to the city he let him crash after long shifts. They were dating, or at least that was how she understood it, and she felt giddy everytime he came by.

Cesare smiled against her lips, and while he never felt like he smiled like he had with the human, he knew that some things would never be the same. Diana giggled, giving him a light push before she wrapped her arms around him, whispering sweet nothings in his ear. He smiled until he turned his head and saw the human. His eyes turned empty, his heart aching but it was better this way, right? They were from different worlds. The human had said that himself. That was what kept Cesare from imploding.
He was ready to just move on, but Diana insisted of going in here as apparently they had good drinks that catered to everyone. They got in line, a few making room for the beautiful couple. Eventually they ended up in front of the human, and Cesare sent him a polite smile, but there was a hidden softness in his eyes that he couldn't get rid of. "Baby, come on," Diana giggled, pulling at his hand to go in. He lingered a little, his hands itching to reach out and touch him, pull him into his arms, but he stopped himself. He opened his mouth to say something but all he ended up saying was "have a nice evening," before following the vampyress into the club.
There were a lot of people here already, and it was clear that everyone was having fun. They got a table, and Diana wasted no time in getting them some drinks. She was a very affectionate woman, always touching or kissing, and it was simply nice to be recognised by a person he called his partner. He did care for her, but he also knew that she cared more for him than what he could give her. She didn't seem to mind. "Let's sneak up to the rooftop," she whispered in his ear and he didn't object one bit. He got up, following the vampyress out and up to the rooftop terrace that even had a small bar. The music was more calm here. They found a corner, Diana sitting down in his lap as she began sprinkling his face with kisses, even going as far as to move her hips gently to meet his groin. She loved doing things in public. As if she got off of that alone.

He didnt really want to look up but eventually the pair stood there in front of him. He kept it rather professional even if his heart was pounding in his chest. Luckily the bass was just as intense as his heart, otherwise the both of them might have heard it. The elder vampyre even smiled at him but he couldnt really make himself return it. “Uh… alright, go on in.” He said, gesturing for them to go ahead. When Cesare lingered, the human just looked at him and subtly shook his head. Dont say anything. He wouldnt hear it. And yet the vampyre did, leaving the human behind with a sinking feeling in his chest once more.
The rooftop area was off limits for tonight due to oncoming renovations but it didnt quite look like they had started doing anything yet, so it was just empty. But it was also kept empty as it was apparent that people snuck up there once in a while. When it was time for him to check the place, he walked through the club, making sure everything was as it seemed. People that were too drunk were sent out and home. Eventually he had to check the roof for lovers who wanted some privacy. Most didnt make a fuss because it was on signs everywhere, but others played dumb or got angry because they were drunk. Those he could deal with just fine. He just hadnt seen Cesare anywhere, and though he wouldnt say it, he had been looking for him. Maybe to break his own heart somehow. But his night couldnt really get any worse than when he realized it was the vampyre in the corner with his new lover, or whatever she was to him. He lit them up with his flashlight before turning it off once he had gotten their attention. “I’m sorry but this area is off limits for tonight.” He said, patting his fingers at a sign that made it rather apparent, still not really looking at them. He couldnt bear it. “I’m going to have to ask you to move downstairs. But it is crowded tonight, I’m afraid.” He used his service voice rather than his normal one.

Diana was slowly opening his shirt, moaning softly as Cesare grasped lightly at her dress. He knew they were trespassing, but so were so many others probably. Diana moved her kisses down to his neck and he leaned his head back as she scraped her teeth against his neck. That was when the flashlight hit his face and Diana sighed in annoyance. She could be a bit impatient when she wasn't getting what she wanted. Hearing his voice so strangely made his jaw tense. His cheek had healed, but there were still faint lines on his cheek and down his jaw. His eyes moved to look at the human. Couldn't he just have him on top of him? It was a terrible thing to think, especially because Diana was a rather nice woman. "I won't have my night ruined by-" - "I'm awfully sorry .. we'll head back down," Cesare interrupted her. Diana got up, clearly a bit offended, but he got up as well, whispering for her to calm down before she went ahead to go downstairs.
Cesare stopped for a second looking at Benjamin. Once again he wanted to say something, and while there were so many things he wanted to say, only one thing came from his lips. "If you see Sadie .. tell her that Martin has been asking for her," he said, his eyes sad as he wanted to tell him how much he missed him. Despite all of the hurt and rejection he still couldn't stop his aching heart. He stood static for a moment before he just nodded, heading down the stairs. He just needed to get out of here, and woth no sight of Diana, he left to go outside. When she didn't answer his calls, he left her a message saying he was heading home. He just couldn't be here messing up the human's life once more.
But what he didn't know was that Diana had been distracted by the scent of a beautiful seraph. She had basically thrown herself at him. It wasn't like she was the type to cheat - or well she was, but not this publicly. Perhaps it was just her sexual frustration from upstairs.

He could tell that the lady on top of Cesare wasnt very happy to be disturbed, but it was his job after all and they werent allowed to be here. She spoke and he frowned lightly, though Cesare cut her off before she could really say anything. He could tell that she was pissed off, but from his point of view couldnt he just let them; Did he really want to anyway? She left and they were alone for a moment. Joe looked at the vampyre, looking sad too. How he was yearning to just reach out and touch him. But he wouldnt. They had found others now, it wouldnt be fair.
“I’ll tell her.” He muttered, looking away from the vampyre before he couldnt bear to fight the feeling inside of him. They were both silent and the Cesare left, making Joe turn his eyes to look after him as he went. He clenched his hands and shook his head. He went to the bathroom to splash some water in his face, wiping off the excess water with some paper towels before he looked at himself in the mirror. He was pathetic wasnt he? He wasnt sure he could keep leading Joanna on like this. But he also couldnt just ignore the fact that Sadie would hate it. There were just so many reasons not to. And the vampyre had also found someone. He shook his head at himself, lingering for a bit before he went out to have a smoke.

Diana pulled the seraph with her out to the alley where most of the smokers were, giggling sweetly as she started to make out almost aggressively with this stranger. She had lost herself, already having a taste of his blood didn't help. The seraph didn't seem to mind either, pulling her close and grabbing at her. He was tall like Cesare, but in the shadows anyone could look like anything. Diana giggled again, and as she pulled away from his face, she let her lips turn to his throat, making the seraph groan under his breath.

Joanna knew that Benjamin was about to get off of work any minute, having sent him a confirmation that she was indeed still up. She even sent him a picture of the livingroom where two glasses of wine waited for them to get cozy before heading to bed.

Sadie also wrote him, telling him that she would be home late from work, and that she wanted those extra hours. She had wanted a certain lamp for a while, and with these extra hours she could finally get it. Telling him to be safe and that he could call her later if he opted to stay at his friend's house, though she knew he was seeing some girl. Sadie wasn't blind or without scent.

When he was out smoking, he was checking his phone but he thought he recognized a voice in the back of the alley. Joanna’s message only made him feel a little guilty now, and Sadie’s added to that when she mentioned his friend. They hadnt really set on a title or called themselves exclusive but it was surely heading in that direction as it was now. The loud moans in the back made him turn his head, for a moment he thought he was seeing Cesare and the lady again. But this time it was just the lady and some other guy. It made Joe frown a little but he wasnt too sure. Was it his business to get involved in anyway? He thought about it for a moment, biting the inside of his cheek. He shouldnt have. He should have just minded his business. But he messaged his boss that he was leaving now, before he messaged Joanna that there was a hold up at work. He felt pretty shit for that and yet he stuffed his phone in his pocket and went off. He didnt know where to find the vampyre, but did it really matter? He just had to go to one of the hotels with the reception that probably knew him pretty well by now. He told the lady to get a hold of the vampyre before he went to wait in the lobby, covering his face a little as he was definitely rethinking his life choices now. But was he past the point of no return? Probably not. He ended up changing his mind after a fair bit of time passing, getting up to leave. He could just go to Joanna’s and forget what he saw. It wasnt his business.

Cesare had gone home to the hotel closests to here. He wasn't sure what to gain from being alone, but perhaps it was what he felt like he deserved right now. He couldn't be angry at Diana or Benjamin, so he could be angry at himself. He frankly hadn't been home for long before there was a call from the reception. A human there to see him? He barely could think of any human wanting to seek him out. But then she gave him a description and he ordered for him to be sent right up. He felt his whole body spinning a little. Was this wrong? What did he want? He swallowed as he considered if perhaps it was to yell at him for even showing his face at Benjamin's place of work?
He shook the thought off, feeling his pocket for the cube. He pulled it out, looking at the color. He could have it out, look at it just to see it flare up red with anger. But he didn't want to break his own heart more. Popping it back in his pocket he went to the terrace to wait.

A worker came to Benjamin as he was about to leave, "Mister Leone is ready for you now, if you would follow me?" He smiled politely, leaning the way to the elevator. He got in with him, clicking the penthouse, turning a key before they went up.

Being stopped by the worker, Joe did look rather confused until he announced that the vampyre would see him. His heart began pounding in his chest and he could either follow or just run. How odd would that just be though? If the receptionist at the desk had to excuse him because he had suddenly just run off? He felt a little nauseous and tense as he followed him, even more as they stood in the elevator. He bit the inside of his cheek again which was slowly turning into a bad habit. But he just couldnt help it. He had to do something and fiddling with his fingers just didnt feel like it was enough at this point. The cube wouldnt really show anger, but the colours were conflicting, which was an indication that the human was freaking out a little. He shook his head. “No, I changed my mind, it’s not that important.” He said, looking at the worker with a frown. He couldnt face Cesare now! Only he said it way too late as they arrived to the floor of the penthouse shortly after.

Cesare looked at the cube rather confused. Was the human still considering what reaction he wanted? It wasn't how it usually went with his emotions. They usually made a lot of sense like going from yellow to pink then grey to blue or red. Nothing like this had ever happened, but perhaps it was not working as well anymore? Unsure he just put it in his pocket.
The worked was even more confused as the human stated it wasn't important. "Mister Leone has asked for you to be brought in - perhaps he should be the judge of its important nature?" He suggested politely before gesturing for the human to enter. The elevator door would close behind him as the worker descended down to the ground floor.

This worker was not helping him in the slightest and before he knew it was he out of the elevator. Frowning he just went to stand by the door. He was trembling a little but managed to lift his hand and knock. He could have just walked in but frankly he thought he would combust if he did and saw the vampyre. Was he freaking out? Maybe just a little. He drew in a deep breath to calm himself, reminding himself that he was just going to say what he saw and then leave. Nothing more. It was just that. The vampyre would have to open the door as the human was quite distracted with his inner thoughts.

He heard the elevator sound in the hallway, frowning a little as some time passed before he heard a knock. Heading inside he was happy that he didn't have a heart as it would probably have combusted right then and there. Opening the door he saw the human, and he wasn't sure what emotion was displaying on his face, though he hoped it was a positive one, "oh, uhm, come in please." Feeling too awkward he almost physically cringed at himself, stepping aside to let him in. The room looked the same, nicely kept as always and everything so neatly organized. He stood for a little bit before he nodded towards the terrace, "how about a smoke?" Was he trying to prolong the inevitable? Maybe just a slight bit, but just having the human around him made him feel more calm than he had for a long time.
He went ahead out on the terrace, the city life bustling beneath them as he sent the human a trying smile that couldn't really reach his eyes. If it did it would show just how much pain he was in from not being able to touch him. "I'm very sorry for troubling you at work; We did genuinely oversee the sign and Diana stepped over the line as well," he just wanted to get that off his chest.

When he saw the vampyre, his eyes softened up a little but he also looked maybe a little miserable to be there. It was odd how awkward things were between them now. Probably because they werent meant to, right? He was let in but he maybe should have turned and left; like that wouldnt have been awkward. “Ye-yeah. A smoke.” He muttered in agreement, following as Cesare went out on the terrace.
He grabbed his smokes with shaking hands, though it wasnt too bad. But quite clearly was he nervous. He lit the smoke and shook his head at the apology. “No, it’s fine. I dont dictate where you go.” He said, inhaling some smoke, looking out on the city rather than the vampyre, just feeling the nicotine do wonders. “Is it… uhm… serious? Between you.. and uh… her? The lady at the club. Uh… what’s her name?” He really tried not to fall over his own words but the trembling wasnt really helping. Maybe he should have just called. This was insane. He had to be insane to pain them both like this!

It wasn't like Cesare was less nervous, but he at least wasn't falling over his words. He wondered if the human was alright. Did he need money? Had something happened to Sadie? Had something happened to him? He couldn't really bear to speculate too much, so he just waited until the human finally spoke. The question, albeit a bit broken up in smaller sentences, made him feel a little confused before he scoffed. Moving over he sat down on one of the nice chairs, rubbing his face a little. "Her name's Diana and well .. I suppose," he admitted though he hated that. He hated that it was something serious when the man he wanted was right in front of him. "We've spoken about maybe getting a bit more official .. most of my sires adore her, and I want to do right by them so," he said with a light shrug. He cared for Diana, she was good to him and gave him space when he needed it. She didn't ask many questions about his past and she was very affectionate. And well she was the complete opposite of Benjamin in every way. That was what kept him being with her, even if that would sound horrible to admit.
He took a deep breath, "but I heard around town that you've been seeing someone as well .. Joanna, right?" Was it bad that he knew? He just hadn't been able to rest before he knew that the person that Benjamin was with was good to him. And on everything he had gotten on her she seemed perfect. A perfect human with a pumping heart and warm skin. Nothing like him. "I heard it from Martin; Sadie and him still has this thing going on," he waved his hand as it wasn't really important to the story.

The vampyre moved away and that made Joe relax a little because the distance between them were bigger now. Only that if he really thought about it, it was just a few steps and nothing more. He hummed at the answer and nodded. Diana. He just quietly listened, smoking more of his cigarette, praying that it would stop the trembling or at least make him less aware of what he was doing right now.
The subject was turned onto the human and he looked a little guilty as Cesare said her name. “Yes. Joanna.” He confirmed, but then he frowned as the vampyre really wasnt supposed to know. Right? But hearing that he had heard it from his sire made it make sense. At least the vampyre wasnt obsessively looking up who he was seeing.
He snuffed out the last bit of his cigarette, walking over to drop it in the ashtray on the table before he looked at the vampyre. He drew in a deep breath to prepare himself for what he was about to say. “… Dont be with Diana. Dont make it official.”
