“I promise,” he assured his mother with a confident smirk. He didnt feel like it would be a huge task to keep himself in check, but he also knew that he hadnt encountered many weakened mortals that were solely weakened because they carried a daemon child. He nodded at her update, looking the buildings up and down. He knew the western district quite well, but as they got to the residental part of the district, he realized that maybe he hadnt been everywhere quite yet. Getting out of the car, his smile broadened at the sight of Delilah, returning the hug in a caring manner. He could have been one of those regular bratty daemon-boys who would have haboured odd feelings for their mother’s closest, but Amos viewed both of the empusa women as aunts to him, solely because he had grown up with them always being around. As odd as the bloodline had seemed to be around the subject of family, Amos did have his own set of restrictions.
He let the women talk as he moved his head to look around, before he felt his mothers caress. Looking at her, he leaned shortly into her hand with a nod, to then turn his eyes to the house. Scrunching his nose he chuckled under his breath. “Why is this so like I imagined him to live in?” He asked with a sigh. Maybe a part of him had hoped his father to be less predictable. Going into the house, he stuck his hands in his pockets, subtly eyeing what he could as they made their way into the livingroom. It wasnt hard to tell that they had moved in recently, so he wondered what it would look like once they had properly settled in. He was quite aware of his movements as he went to the window to look out, somewhat light on his feet to not just intrude and wake up the fenix - He would leave that to his mother. His eyes watched the garden, but he was in his mind, a part of him wondering if the fenix would recognize him by one look - wether he resembled his father by little or enough to need an explanation.

Alyssa moved inside the house as Delilah made sure to update her on their guarding. The leader simply nodded, letting her go off to her duties once more. Inside the living room, Emmy got up as Amos and Alyssa entered, greeting the boy with a quick pinch of the cheek and a familiar smile. Emmy was mute, had no voice and never had, but she was just as telling as anything. "I trust that everything is fine," Alyssa said in a calm voice, eyeing the sleeping fenix on the couch. Emmy nodded, signaling with her sign language that the fenix had been asleep for roughly twenty minutes at this point. Alyssa nodded, making Emmy know it was her time to go out and join Delilah in guarding the property.

Buffy was laying on the couch, her body was tired, mostly from the stress of not knowing if Baal was alright. She started to wake up slowly, hearing some voices, but nothing too loud to wake her immediately. As Emmy left, the fenix sat up slowly, her eyes still heavy, but as she looked to the window and saw the tall figure, she was for a moment confused. "Belial?" she asked in a rather raspy voice, blinking a few times before she realized it wasn't her daemon standing by the window. Rather it was a young man, however his body seemed eerily similar to that of Baal's, not to mention the dark hair. Alyssa sighed, moving over to sit in a chair, facing Buffy, as she looked to her son. The daemon had always thought that her son looked remarkably like herself, but perhaps he looked more like his father? Not that it mattered much. "I had to leave Belial behind," Alyssa said in a cold tone. It was clear that a stranger was present, and it was making all of the daemon's safety measures show. "L-Leave him? But, how could you do that? He-he promised to come back and - and ..." Buffy stammered, placing a hand on her small bump. She could feel herself getting tears in her eyes, but Alyssa didn't really seem to care. "Simeon had a leverage over me, and I was not willing to risk the life of my son, so Belial gestured for me to care for my child and leave him," Alyssa said calmly. Had Amos not been involved, she knew that she would have been the first to attack Simeon. Buffy sat stunned, no words really to explain or do anything.

PostSubject: Re: To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw]   To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw] - Page 3 EmptySun Feb 02, 2020 1:25 pm

Getting his cheek pinched made him stick out his tongue before he shook his head. He wasnt sure why the mute empusa was so persistent on greeting him like he was still merely 7 years old, but it did always make a small smile creep up on his lips. Watching the outside, he heard the fenix call out, frowning a little as he wouldnt react to being mistaken for his father - He wasnt that proud of sharing the similarity. His eyes lazily moved around the garden, he was quite jealous of the fact that his sister would grow up to run around in the grass under the sun. But at the same time, he wouldnt be able to recall if there had ever been a garden when he was a child, he had always been too busy making all sorts of trouble.
Hearing the two women talk, he could tell that his mother had little care for the fenix, making him turn as his mother finished talking. He sent the fenix a friendly smile, much like his fathers as he came closer, but but not too close. He could sense even from a distance that she was an easy target, “I’m Amos,” he simply presented himself.
“Simeon wouldnt kill Belial, just yet. If that was so, he wouldnt have bothered using me to get my mother out of there,” he then said, his eyes shortly seeking his mother’s before going back to look at the fenix in front of him. He folded his hands on his back but it was more to squeeze them together if he felt the need to. “I guess we have to wait and see what happens,” he then said, pinching his lips together in a forced crooked smile.

PostSubject: Re: To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw]   To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw] - Page 3 EmptySun Feb 02, 2020 2:23 pm

Buffy looked to the young man presenting himself as Amos, nodding as she felt herself still lost for words. He looked so similar to Baal, but she guessed that if the guy was surely Alyssa's child, then there was the probability of family resemblance. The thought of using someone's child as a bargaining point made her swallow, looking down as she felt saddened by it. It wasn't like she wasn't happy that Alyssa had made it out fine, but her mind couldn't stop thinking of the worst case scenario; What if Baal never returned? The fenix' hand clutched a bit at her oversized sweater, yet keeping her hand on the bump. She wanted to be strong, to maybe fight back or perhaps just help with something. But alas she was mortal and carrying a child, not really making the top five list of capability at this point. One thing she was grateful for was the fact that Amos seemed to be looking at it from a much lighter perspective. Her green eyes moved, looking up at the young man standing by his mother. "I guess you're right," she said, flashing a faint smile, trying to stay hopeful. "Would you care for some tea? - I know Belial isn't really a fan of eating and drinking, but perhaps you are?" Buffy said, moving carefully to stand on her feet. Some days were easier than others to move around, but today her body was both rather weak and filled with stress. However she tried moving as normally as she could, entering the small kitchen. They barely had anything in the cupboards yet, and the fridge was pretty much empty, but she did have some leftovers in the freezer. Leaning against one of the kitchen counters she grabbed a few mugs, finding the tea in a small box on the counter itself.

Alyssa looked to her son as the fenix went to the kitchen. The empusa did enjoy a cup of tea now and again. Not that it tasted of all that much, but the gesture was nice. "Are you not going to go help her?" Alyssa said, looking Amos up and down. She was curious. Curious to see how her boy would handle all of this, and she honestly wanted to see his ability to withhold his daemonic needs.

He wasnt sure why he was trying to comfort the fenix, but yet he had said what he predicted Simeon to do. Looking at her clutch at her stomach that was hidden behind the oversized sweater made him wonder what would happen if Simeon ever were to find out about the child. He noticed her faint smile, shrugging at her offer, “I dont mind tea. The warmth is nice,” he said before he watched the fenix go. It was a relief to have her out of the room, so when his mother suggested that he should help, he frowned and pressed his shoulders together. “Guess it would be rude not to,” he then said in a low grumble, sending his mother a look that showed he wasnt looking forward to it. Going out into the kitchen, his hands were still kept in his pocket, “Why did you choose to live in the western district?” It almost fell out of him, a serious expression on his face. The western district wasnt exactly known for being the family-friendly kind, but maybe going to the eastern would be too predictable. He didnt know what funds they had either, so maybe western had been the only choice.

Buffy looked up at the tall guy now standing beside her, sending him a small smile as she arranged the mugs in a line, to make it easier for her to pour. She wasn't really a neat freak, but she liked the small things adding up to something greater in the long run. And perhaps it was just a habit she had picked up from her mother. His question made her chuckle a little, shrugging as she filled the kettle with water before placing it on the store. "Well I wanted to have easy access to my family, and they live in the neighborhood," she said with a thoughtful voice. She bit her lip for a bit, wondering if her family would even want to see her if the child turned out to be a fully fletched daemon. Shaking her head a little to clear her mind, her gaze went back to the guy's face. "And it's close enough to the Central District that I can still just walk to the Institute - At least for the time being," she said, motioning down to her stomach. She knew that soon it would be harder for her to move around, perhaps even hard enough to walk or put on shoes. However she didn't really seem faced by that predicament. Taking a deep breath she placed a hand on her stomach, chuckling a bit. "She's moving," she smiled, pressing her hand closer to her stomach. She frowned for a second, looking up at Amos. "Do you want to feel? I mean only if you want to," she chuckled. She didn't know what compelled her to ask, but perhaps it was the likeness to Baal that she saw in the young man.

He nodded at her answer, thinking it had been more simple than the answer he had predicted in his mind. He liked it when he couldnt just predict something but at the same time, he frowned a little when he realized he was wondering whether Baal would have moved closer to him or not if he knew earlier. Would the summoner even try to be a father? He pushed the thought away as the fenix looked at him. He didnt even know her name and the thought of distancing her by that made him feel like his hunger was slowly rising. He turned his eyes to the kettle. The fenix spoke but he didnt move his eyes. He had to focus on something else, so he thought of the kettle. He knew it was slowly warming up, many times had he warmed water in a similar kettle, just to feel the warmth of hot water  when he drank it. He kept watching it though nothing was happening yet, till she asked him to touch her stomach. Looking at her hand, he swallowed hard and shook his head a little, “I dont want to intrude,” he excused himself but it was really just that he was afraid what feeling her soul would do to him. “Belial wouldnt like it,” he then mumbled, though he didnt know anything of his father’s likes and dislikes. But it just seemed easier to use him in this situation.

Buffy couldn't quite put a finger on the daemon next to her, but she seemed rather relaxed in his company. As he declined, she looked down to her stomach, frowning mostly because she hadn't really been thinking. "It doesn't matter what Belial wouldn't like - We're supposed to become one family at some point, so why not get to know each other?" she smiled at the guy. One thing you could never take from Buffy was her endless spirits. Even when people seemed to want to distance themselves they were drawn right back in. Then she realized they hadn't even been introduced, making her sigh. "I'm sorry ... I guess I forgot to properly introduce myself; I'm Buffy," she said in a rather gentle voice. Chuckling a bit, she found herself silly once more, but she looked at his hands still stuffed in his pockets. Was he uncomfortable with her? Didn't he approve of who and what she was to his uncle? "Amos, I don't know what you've heard of me, but I promise you I'm not some secret villain," she said in a rather understanding voice, however not in a way as to look down on him. She reached over, grabbing a few teas that she thought they might at least not hate. Turning around, she leaned her lower back against the kitchen counter, closing her eyes for a while as to try and ignore some pain she was feeling. "Would you at least like to know something? I'm pretty much an open book," she said, biting back a pained expression as she placed a hand on her stomach. It felt like the child was doing summersaults in her belly, and it wasn't really a pleasant feeling.

Even if her words made sense, Amos wasnt too sure, “No you dont understand, it's....” he stopped himself in his moment of blabbermouth before he could say something he wasnt supposed to. Shaking his head he looked at the ground for a second, not wanting the first time that his mother could get disappointed by his behaviour be because he couldnt keep his mouth shut. "Family for us is quite complicated," he then said with an apologetic smile, tilting his head a little to the side - Nice save, or so he hoped. He nodded when she introduced herself, thinking it was better to know her name, than just call her the fenix in his mind. Then he noticed her eyes seeing that he kept his hands in his pockets. With a silent sigh, he pulled out his hands before he shook his head at her words, "No that's quite a given," he said with a scoff but a small smile to show that he meant nothing bad with it. He frowned when he noticed how much in pain she was. He turned his eyes away, feeling his teeth grind together at the thought of how easy it would be to take her soul.
He kept his demeanor calm as she asked what he wanted to know, "Doesnt your family hate him?" he asked curiously but he didnt look at her. He grabbed the tray for her, looking at the cups with impatient eyes. He couldnt grab her if he kept his hands occupied. "We should go back to the livingroom, Buffy" he mumbled, his eyes moving from cup to cup rather fast.

PostSubject: Re: To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw]   To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw] - Page 3 EmptyMon Feb 03, 2020 5:38 am

Buffy had a hard time understanding what Amos meant. What was complicated about family? Perhaps it was a daemon thing, but even then, the fenix thought that family must mean something. Why else would Alyssa be so willing to help Baal? She shot the thought to the side, mostly because thinking about it too much would give her a headache.

She found a small tray for the mugs as he asked his question, making her take a deep breath, shrugging a little. "Only a few people know who I'm actually with; It's not like we've been able to walk around town, hand in hand," she said, biting the inside of her cheek as she looked at the kettle. She still wanted to do that, wanting to show off who had her heart to the whole world, but it was still too dangerous. "My aunt doesn't really approve, and my brother is on edge, but I think they know that once my heart is in something, I can't just let it go," she said in a thoughtful voice, still a bit distant in her gaze. She looked down, her hand adjusting her sweater a bit, almost fiddling with it. "Most of my family will disown me once they all learn the truth ... My father probably won't be supportive, and after what happened to my mother, I'm afraid to lose my aunt as well," she said. It was clearly a topic that was rather unknown to her, as in she was unsure of her family's stance in all of this. The kettle started to boil, and Buffy carefully took it off the heat to pour water in to each mug, nodding at his suggestion. She let him carry the dish, walking ahead of him back to where Alyssa was still seated.

The daemoness looked at her son, nodding approving. She was rather proud that her son had managed to be alone with Buffy, even just for a short amount of time.

PostSubject: Re: To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw]   To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw] - Page 3 EmptyMon Feb 03, 2020 2:12 pm

“So then it’s not like you’re having a swell time with family as well,” he said with a uncertain smile, keeping the tray perfectly balanced as she poured in the hot water. He looked down at the cups as he clenched his jaw a little, trying his best to keep his mind occupied. “Simeon has tried to be like a dad to me, but it just didnt feel sincere. Sometimes I wonder if things had been different of my real father stuck around.... but well. It’s fairy-tale thinking. And I’m not really bothered by the way things are,” he then said, frowning a little at his own words. He just wanted to contribute to what she was saying with something of his own mind. He looked down at the three mugs, “I dont know what the seraphim are like when it comes to family. But they would be fools to shun you,” he then said with a more sincere smile. He hated being kind, but it kept his mind from imagining how her soul would taste.
Going in to the livingroom, he sent his mother eyes that wasnt quite happy with having to be alone wirh Buffy. He placed the tray on the coffee table before he sat down and waited for Buffy. He grabbed the box of different flavours and shifted through them all before he settled on a regular black tea with some sort of berry-flavour that he couldnt distinguish at first glance. He dumped the teabag in the water before leaning back, hands resting on top of his thighs before he closed his eyes for a moment. He thought about what Buffy had told him.

Some time went by and Amos had fallen asleep in a leaning position against the armrest that probably didnt look as comfortable as it felt. But he was unmovable by any means once he had decided to sleep. It had been a long day for the young daemon with many different impressions that he had to digest. His arm almost hugged around the armrest like he was used to hold something close as he dreamt of all and nothing. He barely noticed that the door opened followed by a loud thump.

He should have stayed away till he was aware of what was happening to him. But it wasnt easy when he was guided by no other than an annoyed Trent. Looking at the mark on his wrist that had meddled with the marks, he should have known the celestial had some sort of ace up his sleeve. Trent stood outside with the guarding empusa Delilah, his hands raised as he chuckled and shook his head, “...Brought the guy didnt I? But please do hold me back so he can go nuts in there with whatever is in his body. Either way, I’m not doing this for anyone of you’s,” he explained with a smirk, though he wasnt really sure why he was helping. He had only been lucky that his mark was something that bound to flesh and not soul, otherwise it would have disappeared with Nova’s at the ceremony. But did Nova still care about thos couple? Was it even for Nova he did this? Or was it the child Buffy bore? He didnt want to think of it.

Listening to Amos, she felt herself gaining some empathy for the guy, frowning at the mention of an absent father. She had her own fears of having to raise the child in her belly alone, but she didn't believe that Baal would leave out of his free will. Even still, the thought lingered. Going back in to the living room she let the daemons pick their flavor of tea first before she chose a lemon and ginger one. She usually preferred sweeter teas, but ginger had showed to help her with her nausea. Silence fell upon the house, Alyssa had managed to get up and pick out a book that she was reading when she wasn't out getting updates from Delilah and Emmy. Buffy had laid back down on the couch, facing the backrest, but not really sleeping, simply resting. Her mind was running wild, and she had to turn a few times to adjust with the discomfort of her body. The couch was nice, but being pregnant had it's ups and downs. Turning around she looked to Amos, and she couldn't help but smile a little at the way he was sleeping, getting up and moving over to him. She placed a blanket over him, not knowing if he would be awakened by it. She walked to the window, looking out to the front garden at the large oak tree. She wondered how Baal was doing, feeling so nervous as she looked down to her palm. Their mark from their binding was still visible, and she felt like she could heart his heart beat when she closed her eyes and focused.

Then she heard the thump, frowning as she looked to Alyssa, whom had already gotten up from her seat. The daemon walked to the door, looking down she saw her brother, frowning as she looked up and outside where a stranger stood, confronted by Delilah. Alyssa knew her empusa was more than capable of holding back at least a few daemons, so she wasn't too worried. Reaching down, she grabbed Baal, hauling him to his feet as she looked at the stranger. "Explain," she said in a demanding tone, feeling herself frown as holding Baal up seemed to almost drain her.

Being lifted to his feet didnt seem to faze him much as he looked around, seemingly confused and unaware of where he was. His body was tense like it was fighting off some sort of pain, but his face showed no sign of hurting at all. Lifting a hand, he rubbed his forehead before running the hand through his hair. Her demand for an explanation made him turn his eyes to her, it seemed like he didnt actually see her at first till some sort of realization came to mind. He pushed himself from her grip just to tumble into the wall, gasping for air. “Dont touch me,” he mumbled a little slurred, pressing a hand to his chest. He frowned to himself, looking at the ground with empty eyes. “The artifact...” he mumbled, pointing to the spot he had been pressing, where his heart would be, “... It’s there,” he continued as he glided down the wall to sit. He curled up, the marks under his shirt glowing with some odd light to them like never before. Closing his eyes he gritted his teeth. “Trent brought me here.. I told him not to,” he whispered to himself, clenching his hands with every wave of pain that he began to feel slowly but quite intense.

Trent looked the empusa up and down before he seemed to grow impatient of her holding him back from going inside. “If you let that fenix in there touch him, the artifact will do whatever it can to harm the baby in her stomach. It feeds on the dark energy your kind bears,” he then said to put it simple. Crossing his arms he decided to let her choose if she still wanted to detain him.

Baal moved out of her grip and Alyssa felt herself rid of a burden almost, regaining her strength rather quickly. Seeing her brother in pain made her frown, but that was about the extent of her worry for now, until he mentioned the artifact. "What?" she said with a puzzled look before she looked to Delilah, holding the stranger away from the door. As the stranger went on to explain she heard footsteps behind her. "Belial," Buffy said, breathing out as she looked at him with wide eyes. He was in pain and as she moved forward, the mute empusa grabbed her arm, holding her back. Buffy turned her head to the empusa, shaking her head. "He's not going to hurt me," she insisted. The mute shaking her head, standing her ground and not letting the fenix near the summoner. Buffy looked at Baal, then looked to the open door where she saw Trent. "He's alright ... He can come in," she said, gesturing to the celestial. She didn't quite trust him, but she knew he, for what ever reason, seemed to want to help right now.

Alyssa nodded to Delilah, making her let go of the celestial. Buffy looked at Baal. Her instincts told her to run to him, wrap her arms around him, and hold him close to her. But she couldn't, and it hurt her heart. "Enter," Alyssa said in a firm voice.

The pain was so intense he could feel it like a ringing in his ear and a blur in his vision. Hearing Buffy made him shake his head but he was unable to move and let her know to stay back. He could only be thankful that the empusa stopped her before she could get to him. Trent sent Buffy a smile as he saw her but it was more a proud smile to mock the empusa in fromt of him  than a friendly greeting to the fenix. When he was allowed inside, he went to Baal, crouching down next to him before he placed a hand on his neck. The celestial closed his eyes for a bit as he concentrated on the connection he had to the summoner, before Baal fell limp. He lifted the summoner up in his arms before looking at the others, “Bed?” He demanded, walking ahead as he looked for a place to put the sleepy daemon. Either way he would find a way to get the daemon to lie down somewhere away from the other daemons. With a deep sigh he turned to the others, wiping a little sweat off his forehead, chuckling under his breath, “He doesnt look as heavy as he is,” he mumbled before looking up. “He should have been dead,” he said with a shrug before he looked at Buffy. Lifting a finger at her, he flashed a small smile, “But you were smart, werent you?” He then asked, pointing at his wrist. He had seen the mark. “Now, just because he isnt dead, doesnt mean this couldnt turn sour in a heartbeat. His blood allows him to absorb the... whatever is in him. But as I said, it wants more of that dark energy,” he then explained.

Buffy didn't like this, she didn't like the smile that the celestial sent her either, but she was thankful that at least someone could do something. As Baal went limp, she looked down, feeling hurt that she couldn't do anything to help him when he was hurting. Trent demanded to know where there was a bed, Buffy looked up, showing him the way to their bedroom. It was still kept rather simple, but rather neat as well. At the mention of the potential death of her daemon, the fenix felt her heart sink. The finger being pointed at her made her look directly at the celestial, mostly because she felt like he thought she had some grand scheme in mind when she had bound herself to Baal. "I didn't do it to keep him alive, I did it because I wanted to be with him and not have anything tear us apart," she said, placing a hand over her marked wrist. She felt like Trent was judging her in some way. She was glad that he changed the subject somewhat, but it didn't mean that the subject was much better. She looked at her daemon, looking so restless in their bed, and it took everything in her not to reach over and run her hands through his curls. To snuggle up to him, kiss him and hold him close as she would whisper sweet encouraging words to him. However that could not be.

"What do you mean by wants more dark energy?" Alyssa asked, rather skeptical, but she was not leaving Buffy alone with the guy for even one second.

Trent frowned at Alyssa's skepticism, clicking his teeth as he shook his head, "I dunno, your kind made whatever is in his chest, so you would be ought to know what it is... Just... Um. Look in like one of your old dusty scrolls or something" he answered, but it seemed that even if he knew, it wasnt like he would tell them. He looked at Buffy again, this time just to narrow his eyes a little at her. He didnt know what the whole binding thing was about but he didnt care enough to ask - It just seemed like something odd to him that these less than better species wasnt really allowed to have, yet they still did.
Amos showed in the doorframe as he had heard all the talking, rubbing his eye a little as he looked at the rest to then see his father. He blinked a few times with a frown before he looked at Trent, the confusion showing on his face when he didnt recognize the guy. Trent looked at Amos for a second before he looked back at Baal, then at Amos, mumbling a small realization of "Oh," under his breath before shaking his head to look at Buffy again, deciding to keep his focus rather than meddle in things that he didnt care about. He lifted his finger at her once more, "Dont touch him," he warned her rather seriously before walking off to the kitchen to find something to eat. He felt awfully famished and having to pull the daemon all the way to the doorstep of this house was pushing him beyond his limits.

Alyssa frowned, because she knew of plenty of artifacts, but this one seemed so different. Or maybe it was because it was reacting so unexpectedly to Baal's body. However she kept her distance, having already felt how it was to be drained. She was just lucky that she could withstand more, or perhaps had more dark energy to give.

Buffy had a hard time keeping her distance, standing by one of the bedposts, one arm wrapped around it as she looked at her sleeping daemon. Or was he more in some sort of coma? She wanted to touch him, maybe even tug him in so that he might not awake with a stiff body. However she needed to heed Trent's warning. "I'm right here ... We're right here," she whispered to him, frowning as she sat down on the floor next to the bed. Her body was still tired, she needed to rest, but how could she when she didn't know what was going on? Could she truly sleep when all she wanted was to be helpful and do something worthwhile. But how could she help when she couldn't even touch him? Her eyes felt wet, but she tried to keep it together. Tears wouldn't help, but she was worried sick as all she could do was sit on the floor besides the bed and look at Baal.

Alyssa sighed, shaking her head at how weak she found Buffy before she joined the stranger in the kitchen. "Hungry?" she simply stated with a blank expression on her face, looking at him. She cared little for his name or even what species he was; all she wanted to know what to do to make Baal able to control this artifact in his chest. "Tell me all you know; And don't spare any details," she said.

Amos looked at Buffy as she tried to comfort her daemon with a sweet whisper. He didnt look down on her for how she was behaving, but he didnt quite understand the grip that love seemed to have on many - Maybe it just wasnt something for him. He still kept his distance due to the hunger he felt, crossing his arms as he leaned against the frame to watch the fenix. He looked at his father from time to time, but his main focus was on the fenix. Something about their bond was intriguing him in a way, because it wasnt something he had seen before. "Buffy you should rest," he finally said after a while, biting the inside of his cheek.

Trent grabbed an apple from the fridge, looking at it with a deep sigh when it seemed to be all that there was to eat, "A daemon would know how irritating it is to go hungry," he just said as he took a bite off the apple and leaned against the counter. He looked at her with studying eyes yet there was also a coldness to his that was much alike hers. He tilted his head when she wanted to know what he knew. Swallowing the apple bit he had in his mouth, he flashed a smile at her, "Demanding are we? Why should I tell you?" he asked with his eyes slightly narrowed. He found it amusing in a sense, but it was just how he was. Nothing was easy with this guy. "Lets make an exchange. You need my info, but it's not just something I've dug out in top ten facts about artifacts from the Abyssus. It's valuable information, so I'd like something of as much value from you," he then suggested, taking another bite of his apple, his smile remaining on his lips as he chewed - Mouth closed of course, he had manners after all.

"How can I rest when I know he's hurting?" she mumbled, clearly tired, but she was too stubborn to just find a place to sleep. Of course rest was one of the best things she could do for herself and her body right now, but it was hard when her heart was aching. Besides, she never slept well when Baal wasn't close to her. "I just wish that I could touch him ... Just take his hand and let him know I'm here," she whispered, resting her head against the mattress. If she wasn't careful she knew that she could drift off just sitting there. It wasn't physically hurting her not to touch him, but she was worried. Worried that she would never be able to again. Maybe it was a silly thought, but she felt so much comfort in her daemon's touches, that to think that she couldn't touch him again would break her. And even then, what of their child? How much hurt could it not inflict if a father couldn't even hold his own child? "People say that love is weak, and it may be the case; But he makes me strong, he makes it possible for me to face each day with my head held high, so the fact that I can't even comfort him right now hurts," she said. She didn't know if Amos even cared, or if the guy even knew about love. Buffy had to admit she wasn't an expert, but the connection she had with Baal felt almost otherworldly. She firmly believed in soulmates, but it felt like more than that, even if that was a silly thought.

Alyssa nodded, agreeing that hunger was indeed irritate a daemon if left starving. At the mention of a trade of sorts, the daemoness lifted her eyebrow, her face remaining stoic as she walked closer to him. She knew a little about his race, had met a few over her lifetime, but he was certainly not like the rest. "You want money? Information? Perhaps a warm body to cuddle up to at night?" she asked, though the last part was clearly not a suggestion of her joining him. More that she could supply him with what she needed. "Or perhaps you want something that you can't have, but that I might set up for you to get?" she said, sitting down at the small kitchen table.

Amos felt a little at a loss of words when she argued with him, shrugging before he touched his elbow, his arm shielding his chest as he thought of what to say. "He wouldnt want you to... not rest," he said a little unsure, clearly it was something he had heard someone else say than to have any knowledge on his own words. He frowned at her whisper that he could barely make out, shaking his head when he disagreed, "He'll know that you're here even if you're not touching him," he argued,  looking at the ground. He knew it probably didnt make sense, but he just had a feeling that it was so, "He can feel your soul, smell your smell, you know? Daemon stuff like that" he mumbled, shrugging. Maybe it was none sense. He listened to her words about love, his expression turning a little void as he looked at the ground, "I wouldnt know what that feels like. But I doubt that he'd want to wake up and see you drain yourself like this," he then said, tripping a little from foot to foot. He wished that he could say something more comforting, but love really was something he didnt understand fully.

"Money? Information? A soother to bodily pleasures?" he repeated, clicking his teeth as he shook his head, "Sound like none of those have any value to you. But that's what I asked for; Something that's as valuable to you than to know the information that I've got," he said, pointing at his temple before inspecting the apple. It wasnt the best apple he had had and he knew that Buffy probably needed it more. "Join me," he then said as he pushed off the counter to walk out into the hallway. He went out the door, turning his head to look at the empusa before jerking his head to the outside. He took one last bite of the apple before throwing it somewhere into someone's grass. He shivered slightly at the cold but seemed to shake it off rather than tug his hands into his pockets. "What's it like being the daughter of a god? Any special perks you get? Do you get a holiday named after you or something else?" he asked with a crooked smile, not as interested in the perks than to point out what he knew.

Buffy sighed at his words, because she knew that he was right. She knew she had to rest, and in this case it was probably the only thing she could do that would be helpful. Slowly she moved to her feet, her arms dangling a bit from being tired, but she felt more restless now that she was standing. It took everything in her to not lean down and kiss Baal's forehead, moving out to the hallway before she wrapped her arms around herself. Tears were starting to fall down her cheeks, but she couldn't bring herself to even sob. Instead she walked to the nursery, briefly checking if everything was alright, however all she saw was the half assembled dresser. She felt a knot in her throat. Perhaps she had been selfish in all of this. If it hadn't been for her, they wouldn't be in this mess. She touched the doorframe gently to the nursery, breathing out as she tried to wipe away her tears. Buffy still had some hope, because in reality she just needed that. "I hope I get to be ready once she decides to arrive," she said, but it was mostly her thinking out loud. Smiling a bit, although a sad smile, she thought of the name they were going to bestow upon their daughter. "Her name is going to be Saoirse ... Silly how such a simple name can bear so much meaning," she said, looking briefly at Amos before looking down again, moving to the living room where she lied down on the sofa. Grabbing a blanket, she pulled it close around her, breathing in the faint scent of anise it still had on it.

The empusa scoffed at the celestial, but he was right. Of course those things meant nothing to her. She got up as he gestured for her to come with him, although she kept herself aware of her surroundings. Outside her eyes briefly followed the toss of the half eaten apple, knowing it would soon enough start to decompose and become one with the earth it fell upon. Or maybe it would even get feasted on by some small animal. At the mention of her father she kept her face stoic. Mostly because it was clear what the celestial was hinting at. "My blood is said to have something magical to it, if that is what you are hinting at," she said a little apprehensive. All those who were a direct descendant of their god was said to have something about them. Perhaps not all knew of their full potential, but Alyssa knew the value of blood. She knew that with the blood of Baal, chaos could ensue if one was not careful. "You don't strike me as one that wants to use it for a healing potion; Rather I believe you want to ingest it to become stronger," she said, narrowing her eyes to look at him.

He moved out of the frame to let her pass as she got up. He could tell she was having a hard time moving away, but it was for the best of the baby. He watched her walk to the nursery, but he would feel like he was intruding if he went to follow her. He frowned a little, looking back at his father before approaching him carefully. He touched his arm, only to feel his fingertips burn at the feeling of the unholy artifact. He pulled away immediately with a sharp pained inhale, grasping his now wounded fingers with his healthy hand. He walked out to see Buffy stand in the frame of the nursery. He frowned a little at the name, before a small confused smile spread on his lips, "Saoirse?" he carefully repeated, not wanting to say it wrong. Nodding a little he sent Buffy a smile, "It's a good name," he then said. He watched the fenix lie down and decided to take a seat where his mother had been, still holding his wounded fingers to his chest. Looking down at them, he could see the small blisters form like he had been burned on something hot. He made a small sigh to himself, knowing that his mother wouldnt be happy seeing it.

"Cool," he simply said, looking ahead as they walked, her observation of him made him shrug as he pinched his lips together - He wasnt going to answer it right away anyway, "Who knows what person I am," he mumbled, flashing a short smile. He hadnt even told her where they were headed but he did like that she wasnt questioning it. He didnt walk far before he got to a bigger street with a few cornershops. He got into the shop and walked to the vegetable and fruit aisle, looking around as he grabbed a basket. Grabbing a few different things he decided to finally answer her belief, "I dont want to ingest your blood. Bael can keep his bloodline and whatever else of his creation to himself," he said with a shrug before he looked at the empusa. "I can travel through the void and not be harmed in the slightest. You'd disintegrate after catching whatever is in there to make sure you shouldnt be there," he then said with a small smile while he checked that he had everything in the basket. He had to be sure that Buffy had food for her baby. "But do tell me more about your magical blood," he smiled scornfully proud.

PostSubject: Re: To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw]   To Kill the Usurper or Succumb to Failure [tw] - Page 3 EmptyTue Feb 04, 2020 9:57 pm

The fenix couldn't help but smile at Amos' words, feeling somehow relieved that the name didn't just sound nice to her ears alone. Laying down she felt her body want to toss and turn, yet she laid still, staring up at the ceiling as she replayed everything in her mind. It was as if the white ceiling was a canvas upon which she could paint the story of today. The flames in her eyes seemed almost dull, like she was far off in her own mind. The blanket helped calm her, but it was nothing like Baal's safe embrace. It was a faint scent, and only strong enough for her to smell because she knew it so well. "Is Amos short for something?" she asked, not knowing if she was even saying it out loud. It was as if her mind and reality had blended together, the lines blurred, and she knew it was because of her body being so tired. Her eyes were burning a little as she tried blinking to get the feeling away, but it was like it didn't help. Only sleep would help her now.

Alyssa followed calmly, barely paying attention to her surroundings unless she needed to. Her mind was occupied, but not really with anything that the celestial said, more so because she didn't like being away from the house. She trusted Delilah and Emmy, and she knew that if it came down to it, Amos was a decent fighter as well. Not that she ever wished for it to get that far. The corner shop was rather small, but she didn't mind it too much. It wasn't until the celestial picked up a basket her eyebrows twitched slightly as she was trying to follow what he was thinking. Looking at him she found herself a bit confused, but she suddenly realized something. "You are not shopping for yourself; Are you perchance taking an interest in the fenix more than I first thought?" Alyssa said, but her question she didn't really expect to be answered. However she did find his character slightly more interesting. If he cared for Buffy, then what was he doing saving Baal? As he asked to know more of her blood she scoffed, looking away at a pile of apples. Alyssa didn't mind eating, but she saw no real reason for it. The taste was fine, before it felt like the food was actively rotting in her mouth. "I don't think that is something I want to disclose here," she said.

He watched her with glances but he was more worried about his fingers and how he was gonna get rid of the infection before his mother would return from whereever she went. More so was the pain annoying like a constant sizzling in the outer layers of his skin. Unholy power wasnt a joke and he should have been mindful of reaching out when he knew the artifact was there. Buffy's question helped him move his mind from the pain, frowning a little as he leaned his head back, "Well it's not really short for anything. But my real name is Amadeus. Amos just seems shorter and easier to say," he explained, shrugging a little before looking at Buffy, "Is Buffy short for anything?" he then returned the question, thinking Buffy was a weird name for a woman to have.

He looked at her when he made sure to have all the things he needed, to see that she seemed to realize that he wasnt here for his self-interest - Which in reality he was, because he didnt care much for Buffy and more just the child she was carrying. "I guess you could say that, but it's not what you think. It's not about the fenix herself, her I dont care about," he said, narrowing his eyes at her. He wasnt too sure what she meant by those words, but explaining it would mean he had to tell her something without getting something in return, which was what he had been fishing for all this time. He took one of the apples she was looking at, inspecting it before placing a few in his basket. "Why not?" he asked rather fast, turning his head to look at her with a puzzled expression. "Is it some sort of secret that common folk shouldnt hear?" he elaborated his question, looking around before looking back at her, "Scared a few mortals may gossip?" he smiled, moving away from the vegetables and down some aisle with other things. He grabbed a few nuts and anything that was edible and not made of animal product. "Is it why your son bears the same blood as your brother?" he then asked in a lowered tone, sending her a crude smirk.
