Life is strange indeed

“Half of yo-you is m-missing..?” He asked because he didnt really get it. Kurtis? When the doctor came in and had Abel come outside, listening as the doctor explained. “We dont know. Not more than twelve hours.” He had to admit, looking shortly towards Zaira, sending her an assuring smile. Then another doctor joined them with a report. “Normally a DNA test would reveal the attacker since we know it’s a vampyre. But the results couldnt disclose anything. Turns out this set of fangs are protected from being revealed in the system, which likely means high standing vampyre.” He told the doctor before he looked at Abel. “This makes everything far more complicated. We cant just administer anti toxins when we dont know what kind of vampyre we’re dealing with.”

“B-becoming a vampyre?” Abel asked a bit too loud because it just surprised him. He glanced towards the human and drew in a deep breath followed by a sigh. “I dont know. She w-wasnt supposed to be attacked, we h-had just been hanging out w-with her that n-night. She must have gone out and…” he didnt even know where he was going with his words so he shut up. He knew Zaira wouldnt just be seeing vampyres, even less let them suck on her this way. At least the Zaira he knew. 
Kurtis came as soon as the doctor’s had gotten a hold of him, though when he saw Carla he felt so guilty. He kept getting her daughter in all kinds of trouble and he didnt even blame her if she was angry with him. He entered the hospital room, feeling rather tense as he still werent comfortable with being in a hospital. Mostly because he had spent so long here after being beaten to pulp and then Romeo had decided to assault Zaira right in front of him. Thinking of his cousin, the fucker was the reason they were in this mess to begin with. The doctors explained the situation to the lycan and the mother and they were left standing there right outside the room, getting some time to process before they went in to Zaira and Abel.

He was in shock because he was scared for Zaira. He wasnt really considering her being a vampyre at all, but in reality it probably wouldnt change a thing. But it was understandable to not know how he may react to such a change. Carla pulled him in and her whisper made him look away for a bit. He only had the family name but it would be enough. She assured him that she wasnt angry and he looked at her. Fuck Romeo and the Parish family, they brought this on themselves he thought as he looked down. “Parish. Vampyre family.” He just told her before he went in to join Zaira. 
She looked like she wasnt doing well and though the medicine was slowing down the process, it was a lot to take in. He went to her side, grabbing her hand, not caring that it was clammy. It was still her hand. “I’m here baby.” He told her, glancing shortly towards Abel who seemed to be analyzing every move he made. Why did he have to be so observant of everyone around him?

“You wont die. I promise you.” Kurtis said, lifting her hand to kiss the back of it. He could smell the infection like it was sitting deep in her skin already. He could feel how freaked out she was and he didnt blame her for it. It hadnt been supposed to happen and he felt it was his fault for leaving her. Hadnt he gone, then she wouldnt have been picked out for some evil revenge plan that he didnt even understand. “I know who did it. And your mom knows.” He assured her. He wanted to tell her everything but she probably wouldnt want to hear it while they were keeping the change at bay. Seeing the red tinted tears he felt his jaw quiver with sadness. Not that he cared but she did and he could feel it. 

A man entered at some point in a pretty well put together suit, looking quite etheral and vampyre-like only that he wasnt. “Hello. I am the Parish family’s representative. Mr. Parish cant be present right now, but I will make this easier for all of us.” He explained before he looked at Carla, nodding for her to follow. He couldnt just hand over Laure’s records without Eden’s permission and seeing that Eden was in a coma, there was really nothing to be done at the moment, all which he explained to the mother. He apologized for the inconvinience but assured that her daughter’s pain and torment would be compensated for handsomely.

“I dont know Zaira.” He admitted, feeling his eyes water as he looked at her. He just wanted her to be okay. And her feeling so scared made him scared. He lifted her hand and pressed the back of her hand onto his forehead, closing his eyes.

“There is nothing to be done while Mr. Parish is ill. For all we know but do not hope for is that he wont wake before it is too late to intervene.” The repensentative explained. He could understand the mother’s worry but he had no power to do anything. It was all up to Eden, now even more that Laure was in fact dead, though that information was not going to be let out to the public anytime soon. “Until then, I can offer you the best doctors we know of.” He offered but didnt deny her the opportunity to speak with Eden when he would eventually be well, or at the time that was only a hope.

Damiano entered with another clergy and Kurtis looked at her. Abel was confused too but simply nodded as a greeting. “What can she do?” Kurtis asked.

The clergy introduced herself and Kurtis was a little wary of just trusting anyone. But on the other side did she not seem like someone his father could just buy and use and that was the important part. He felt the hope in Zaira through her hand and it wasnt convincing him but at least he wouldnt just shut it down right away. Abel got up as Hannah asked of him, rolling up his sleeves. The others were sent out but Kurtis wouldnt move. “I’m not going.” He said rather determined, like he was almost daring the hybrid to try and move him. Hannah’s words therefore made him place his other hand over Zaira’s like this was how it was supposed to be.

Some sort of healer that dealt specifically with vampyre attacks. It did sound oddly specific but Kurtis didnt have time to ponder on any kind of thought. He was so in the now that he barely thought at all. Feeling Zaira’s emotions was his priority. Abel just did what he was told, not really questioning her at all. He even sent Zaira a reassuring smile. It was all about trusting the process even if Kurtis couldnt understand it. The lycan would come to see it once the results came in. Kurtis let her look at Zaira’s bites, even trusting her to put on the ointment. But Zaira’s sudden pain and reaction was transfering right into his hand, making him hurt too. He grit his teeth and let Zaira keep holding his hand. She wasnt alone in this. Hannah asked for his blood and he denied right away. It could be poison to Zaira now. He wasnt having it. Abel sighed and went to Kurtis, explaining the importance while he looked him in the eyes. Kurtis just looked hurt and scared and he understood. Eventually the lycan complied, offering his free hand to the older clergy. Abel smiled and thanked him for listening.

Kurtis didnt mind getting his hand cut if it meant Zaira would be okay. She was given his hand and he felt her latch on. Somehow it was her way of drinking that made him think that she would be fine. When he felt that primal instinct in her, that felt reassuring. But then his hand was removed from her lips and Abel placed a cotton piece in his hand, pressing his fingers together to apply pressure.
But then Zaira fell and Kurtis saw it right away. “Zaira!” He scremed, running to her side but Abel stopped him. The lycan was however blinded, pushing the clergy away, touching the human, feeling nothing, no feelings no heartbeat. “No…” he mumbled, feeling his eyes well up. He felt his heart break and Abel grabbed him again, shoving him out the room. Kurtis fell, Jeremy had arrived to help up the lycan. “I couldnt feel anything…” Kurtis mumbled before he just shook free from the nephilim. He looked at Carla, knowing he was at fault for this. He felt so lost now, not knowing what to do. How to handle all the emotions. And then he rembered how he had gotten to this point. And he went for the exit without a word, Jeremy not even understanding but thinking that he just needed air.

He went to the mansion after digging around a bit. Turns out Romeo was attending business with Eden Parish and that meant they could be one place if Eden was too ill to be present. He just barged in, servants gasping in surprise as he looked around. “Where is he!” He demanded, none of them knowing who he meant. “Romeo! ROMEO YOU FUCKER!” He yelled.

No words were needed initially. Romeo dodged the fist and it only made Kurtis angrier, given there was more to be angry about. He had been crying but it was like the sadness had been absorbed and now only fuelled some deepset anger. Because it wasnt only just about losing Zaira. Losing Zaira was only the tip of the iceberg, it was Mr fucking perfect that once again just got to move on with life. Kurtis was so sick of it, and so broken. He had lost the love of his life, touched her and felt nothing at all. “Dont talk! Dont fucking pretend that you for once in your life have any other function than to just be a piece of shit!” He yelled, lunging out as he finally seemed to get a hit in. But it wouldnt really be Kurtis fighting if he didnt give it his all. He probably broke a knuckle on the punch but barely felt it as he reached out to stop his cousin from falling over. “You killed her. You killed Zaira!” He told him as he shook him rather violently by his collar. Eden stepped in as it was hard to ignore all the yelling. Kurtis looked at him too. “Where the fuck is your wife? Where?!”
“She’s dead.” Eden just said rather truthfully but it didnt seem to satisfy Kurtis. His hands were shaking from the grip he had on Romeo, he felt the rage boil inside of him. He shoved him away and shook his head. “Transform.” He demanded, looking at his cousin.

Kurtis didnt really give a shit about the Trevino’s sacred lycan law but he was also blinded enough by rage to enact on it. He watched his cousin look down and it was like he knew then. He gave into his inner beast as well, feeling his bones break only to grow stronger, and while he wasnt as big and mighty as Romeo, he didnt look harmless either. Snarling as he felt so in tact with himself he began circling his cousin, just looking him up and down. Sure, this fight would be worth it. But Kurtis wasnt going to fight clean, shoving himself at Romeo when he had gone around his back a couple of times. Eden stepped back, frowning as he wasnt sure whether to intervene or let them fight it out. Though it was obvious to see that Kurtis moved and fought with the intent to kill, snapping his jaw at Romeo whenever he could, just waiting for the moment where he would sink his teeth into his throat. The vampyre decided to not get between them for the time being.

Kurtis wasnt the one at a massive disadvantage, he wasnt covered in wounds already and weakened. And as he finally managed to get his teeth on his cousin, he pulled as hard as he could. He wouldnt be satisfied until he had freed a big lump of wolf flesh just to spit out on the ground. He slashed when he could, and eventually it seemed to be enough for Romeo. Standing over his stronger counterpart he watched him change back. Eden frowned as he could imagine what would happen and he wouldnt have it. The servant however got in his way and her insistence made him look worried at the two lycans as he took the phone call. Being met by the spanish accent he could imagine it to be the girl’s mother. He was a little distracted as he listened but then she mentioned a change and he looked to the lycans. “Of course. I will meet you personally, now excuse me, I have to stop a killing.” He said rather short before he hung up and went to grab Kurtis. The wolf swiped his claws towards the vampyre and Eden grabbed his arm, pulling it around his back before he pulled to pop his shoulder out of socket. The wolf whimpered and fell to the ground before Eden stepped on the dislocated shoulder to get his attention. “She’s not dead.” He told him before he went and picked up Romeo. There was nothing more to be said. Kurtis changed back began crying as he laid there realizing that Zaira wasnt dead. He wanted to believe it. He really did. 

Eden placed down Romeo on his bed, not caring if the linen was stained by blood. “Why are you telling him such nonesense? To kill you?” He asked, frowning a little as he found a kit to tend the lycan’s reopened wounds. He was obviously hurt by the notion that Romeo had wanted to give up and he couldnt mask how angry it was making him to think about.

“Well obviously it did.” Eden protested as neither Kurtis or Romeo had died. But surely that wouldnt have been so if the vampyre hadnt interfered. It was quite easy to see how Kurtis had been so angry he would have done it. It made Eden’s heart ache to think about. “You’re so silly… Why even fight?” He sighed because he didnt get it. It was so primal and different. Sure vampyres fought but it would onlu turn to fists and fangs when there was nothing more to be said or done. As an act of desperation. He was fixing him up, making sure he was patched up nicely. Though as Romeo spoke of death again, Eden lost his patience. “I woudlnt have let him kill you!” He said in a slight raise of his voice, looking seriously at the lycan, shifting between his eyes as if he was making sure he had been heard. He reached over, grabbing the lycan’s face in a gentle grip. “You cant just tell me how you cant live without me and then just be ready to die like that.” He said, leaning down to kiss his lips.
