They all grow up so fast

He sighed at her question and shrugged, “It’s not meant to be like that,” he said truthfully before he noticed how sad she seemed about it. He wanted to comfort her but at the same time, it was something she needed to learn eventually, as hurtful as it was. She continued and he wished that there was something that he could say that she could do. It was just so complicated and he wasnt sure that this bond had been meant for families to partake in. “I dont think you would have understood. And we didnt know this was going to happen,” he said in a sadened tone but he wasnt lying.
He looked ahead, thinking that maybe she just needed some time to come to terms with it. Or at least that was what he hoped for. They wouldnt be far from the house and he mostly kept looking ahead, not saying much if she wasnt speaking about something first.

Reaching the house, he could see that neither Baal or Buffy was home yet. It made him consider her offer before he simply nodded, thinking there couldnt happen anything bad if he went with her. Going inside he took off his shoes and his backpack and followed her to the kitchen. In the kitchen he placed the kettle to warm some water, thinking he might as well get some tea. He watched her warm her food while he was minding what tea he wanted to drink today. She looked at him and he looked up from the pan, frowning a little as she came to him to grab his hand and place it on her heart. He just looked at her a little perplexed, but her plea made him soften up in a sigh. “Maybe we were too harsh. How about we slowly get you used to not doing all the things we used to do?” He suggested, thinking it was a good idea.
Amos probably wouldnt be up for it, but Connor started believing it could work out and help her be less sad about it. He grabbed her hand and entangled their fingers as they had used to, smiling softly at her. “We’ll still be brother and sister no matter what, alright? Even if we cant be as close as we used to,” he reminded her, but hoped that him giving in could grant her some peace for now. He didnt really want her to be hurting, so maybe he could bend the rules this time.

[justify]It just felt good, in a way that she couldn't quite describe. Having Connor close just seemed to make her ache less. Having their fingers intertwined was just one piece of the puzzle, but she was going to be thankful for all the things that she was allowed to do right now. While she wanted to kiss him, she also knew that it might be the thing that he had told her was forbidden. Everything was nice, everything was calm.
Then she heard the squeal of the tires, and she knew it was Amos even before he barged in through the door. Saoirse felt like she had been caught in something she was not allowed to, but it was hard to deny herself the things that felt so natural. The guys started fighting, not physically, but verbally and it hurt Saoirse deep down. "Ba-ba," she pleaded with Amos, but he was too busy trying to pull her away from Connor. She held on to the seraph's hand for dear life, and at the daemon hovering over her. Then she felt something wonderful against her lips, her eyes closing in pure instinct as she felt the daemon's lips against her own. He leaned away, and here she stood, having just had her first real kiss with Amos while holding Connor's hand. Amos' snappy tone made her look away, moving over to Connor once more.
She was quiet, letting everything replay in her mind. She hid her face away in the seraph's chest once more. Her cheeks were burning and her heart was racing. "Please don't fight," she pleaded. This kiss had stunned her, her mind running wild with why Amos was doing this when Connor had just told her it wasn't allowed. She knew the two never saw eye to eye, but as the blonde haired had said, it had been Amos' idea to begin with. Swallowing she looked up at Connor, her hand reaching up to cup his face. "Do you want to kiss me too?" she asked, rather perplexed as to what all these feeling were.

Hadnt it been that Connor had been so focused on keeping it mild for Saoirse’s sake, he would have thrown himself over the daemon and they probably would have started fighting physically. He knew or hoped that it had been her first kiss and at the same time, he just hated that it was Amos who had gotten it. He was as ever crude about it, like he had been trying to make some sort of point that Connor didnt understand. She hid away and he didnt blame her, no in fact he was glaring with anger at the daemon who seemed unfazed by it all. Then she cupped his face and he looked down at her, shifting between her eyes as he swallowed hard, “I cant take advantage of you like that,” he whispered truthfully, thinking it would have been something else, had she actually been a 17 year old with the knowledge of one. She was still just a child in so many ways and Connor’s love was the complete opposite of Amos’, it was selfless and in many ways self-sabotaging.
All it took was one snicker from Amos to make Connor snap at him and so another session of bickering began. Connor pointing out how they couldnt just do stuff like that to her when she didnt know about that side of love and Amos shrugging it off as he more so placed the blame on the celestial making the bond to begin with without saying what would have happened. “She deserves to find someone who isnt one of her brothers,” Connor said in a frustrated tone but Amos crossed his arms, “You’re an idiot,” the daemon muttered and so the bickering continued. It was only that Connor stopped when he smelled something crisp in the air and it wasnt the pleasant smell of food any longer. Right then, the fire alarm went off and Connor let go of Saoirse to open a window. He grabbed a table cloth and tried to guide the smoke outside.
Amos stared at Saoirse for a little while before he scoffed to himself and shook his head. “I shouldnt have come,” he muttered angrily and decided to go for the door.

He wasnt sure how the marks could protect her, but he was thankful that they did. Even though he had hoped she wouldnt have gotten them, it at least seemed that there was a good use for them. He noticed Nova leave but his attention was all on his daughter, his heart aching from seeing her this distraught. She was so young and he didnt think it was fair for her to already look this heartbroken, but he wouldnt ever think that her feeling heartbroken would be fair - Which was probably because he was her dad.
When she started explaining, he nodded and held her hands gently. It hadnt been a secret that Amos and Connor hadnt come around as often, but he hadnt thought it was for any particular reason, beside the fact that she wasnt as in need of help as she had been as a child and toddler. He looked at her marks as she spoke of them, watching how her white marks was more visible now that it was summer and she was bearing a suntan. He wasnt that fortunate, his skin mostly pale if not even only affected by a faint tint, the black marks clearly visible.
But then the worry came when she said people had started staring, he made a deep sigh but seemingly kept his calm as he let her speak, gently rubbing the back of her hands, mindful of the wounds from shattering the glass. But then she said something he hadnt expected to hear from her, the fact that Amos kissed her. His expression betrayed him as he frowned, but it wasnt in disappointment or anger, just confusion. He shifted between her eyes and swallowed hard as he was looking for the right words to say. He didnt want to make the situation worse. He let go of her hands and got up to sit down next to her, wrapping an arm around her to hold her close. He was quiet for a while as his hand gently caressed her head while his arm held her close. “I dont really know what to tell you Saoirse, there isnt a page in parenting about this particular issue” he admitted, biting his lip a little as it felt bitter to admit. He frowned a little at himself. “But if Amos kissed you but want to distance himself.... then it’s because he’s feeling some sort of conflict, and with the society we live in today, a conflict such as wanting to be your sister’s lover isnt accepted,” he then said when he had given it some thought. He wasnt really surprised, but could he really be one to preach against it with his history?
He ran a hand through his hair. “As you know, Amos’ mother is my sister. And... well I’m his father, his actual father,” he then admitted, though it probably wasnt that big of a secret. “But I didnt know she was my sister, not back then. However, I cant start to regret my past, because it was what led me to your mother,” he then explained, moving his hand to her shoulder before giving it a squeeze. “You cant force them to make you whole if they dont want to. Love is like a string. The more you give them, the more likely they’ll come back. Give them too much and they’ll think you dont care and wander into someone else. Give them too little and you’ll suffocate them,” he then explained, knowing it was an odd way to explain it. “You deserve the world and more, my little love, and though I’d want to give you anything that you’d want, we cant dictate how people think or feel,” he then said, leaning over to kiss the side of her head.

Her question made him sigh because he wanted to say something that could lift her spirits and make her feel somewhat better and yet it was like the world didnt want that. He looked at her and took some time to rub the black tears of one side of her cheek before he finally spoke. “If we love someone that clearly doesnt love us back, it’s better to just let them go,” he said, frowning a little but that was because he didnt want to have to say those words to her, but it just seemed like it would be her best option. “That way, if it’s meant to be, then they’ll come back. That doesnt mean you shouldnt try to move on, because we cant set ourselves up for hoping for them. It will hurt for a long while but it usually gets easier with time,” he then said, moving his other hand up to clean the black stain off her other cheek. “Let’s go home,” he said before he kissed her forehead and got up. He offered her a hand in case she felt unsure on her feet.
Passing Nova, he stopped to thank her again, but he probaby should have asked if she had some time to explain the whole bond thing later. It just skipped his mind, since he focused more on getting his daughter safely home. When they got home, it was only Connor that greeted them in the hallway, which made sense because Amos’ car had been nowhere to be seen, “He left,” Connor said a little ashamed as he scratched the back of his neck. He was actually somewhat happy that the daemon had left, but Baal didnt seem so happy about it. He grabbed his phone and sent a text to Alyssa that something had happened - He didnt know what was going on in Amos’ mind but something was definitely different. He thought she would like to know since she cared so much about him. He looked at Saoirse, his expression turning a little sad when he feared she would be hurt. “I can stay over for dinner if you want me to?” Connor offered Saoirse. He still firmly believed that Amos had been in the wrong to snap like he had, like she was the one who had decided that this was how things were to be, but that was dumb because she had been just a baby.
