Dahria could only nod at her question, looking from the painting to the piano’s nameplate once again. It was quite peculiar that it was all stored beneath the house to collect dust from what it seemed. “Yeah she did,” she confirmed quietly, looking at the painting again. She didnt know that it had been a brother that she had lost, but she wasnt really surprised by what Raziela had told her. She looked at the boys she couldnt recognize. “Why do they all..... look so sad? Their eyes,” she said, mostly a ponder to herself before she looked at Nithmeia.

To be fair, it wasn't like the tiefling knew much about this world, but it didn't discourage her. However the question about the sadness in the eyes of the children made her swallow, not really daring to think what horrible things one had to go through to look this sad. "Perhaps it's a stylistic choice?" she suggested, although by the sound of her voice, she clearly didn't believe that herself. She moved over, looking at the titles of books displayed, frowning as some of them mentioned words like the right upbringing and suitable punishments. "Well from the looks of it, it was probably not a household build on love and hugs," she commented. Yikes, this was perhaps too deep for them to snoop around. Nithmeia narrowed her eyes, looking in to a dark corridor. "It's heading north," she said in a pondering tone, mostly because she didn't know that it was that way the temples were placed.

“What style are they trying to get from a couple of tormented kids?” She shook her head, clearly not even wanting to even think of it as possible. They were digging deep and the right choice would have been to turn around and go back; Dahria just couldnt. She was too curious about the empusa, even if she would skin her alive if she ever found out about this. She followed Nithmeia, looking at the books with a deep sigh. “Household would be pushing it,” she said before she moved her eyes in the direction Nithmeia was looking, moving closer to it. “Uhhhh..... Suddenly I have a bad feeling about this, real bad” she mumbled before she looked back at the entrance. “I think this adventure should come to an end,” she said quite seriously as she grabbed Nithmeia’s hand to pull the daemoness with her.

The sudden change in the fenix' behavior worried her a lot, turning to look at Dahria with narrowed eyes. "Is there something I need to know?" she asked, not understanding the sudden change, however she had gotten a glimpse at something within the long tunnel. "Just start climbing back up, I just have to check something out," she promised her, moving towards the long hallway. It really did seem to go on forever, but she soon reached what she had seen. Glimmering in the light from the flame, it was a small pendant and beneath it a small book, looking like a diary of some sort. In dusty golden letters the front cover had a name written on it. "Ae-li-us?" she read out loud, taking it with her and hiding it in her loose garments. The pendant she brought as well before Nithmeia returned to Dahria, giving her a hand up to the next stair before pulling herself up afterwards.

There was just something about tunnels leading somewhere in a daemonic household that could kill Dahria’s mood for adventure. She was daring, yes, but she wasnt suicidal. “Just trust me,” she said as she went to the ladder, only to look back and see Nithmeia walk right in. She held her breath, grasping onto the old wooden ladder as to not just run to the daemoness and stop her. When she returned Dahria looked at her with concern, “Dont ever go in there again,” she said in a worried tone, looking back at the tunnel. Something about it was just making her skin crawl. She let Nithmeia help her up, and returned the favour once she had her feet safely on the ground again. She just closed the cupboard, feeling her heart pound in her chest. “I’ve only heard stories. But if you find a tunnel in a daemon household, you never enter it. I wish I could tell you what happens, but no one has returned to tell the story,” she said, drawing in a deep breath to calm herself.

Nithmeia found all of this to be pretty strange, but she wondered what was meant with the tunnel. Where did it lead? And why was it deemed so dangerous? "Alright, but perhaps we need to go dust off somewhere," the tiefling commented, feeling spiderwebs in her horns and long black hair. Her tail swayed a bit, dusting off the back of her pants and back a bit, before she coughed lightly. "Besides, I found something that might explain more," she said, showing a corner of the book she had found before hiding it away in her clothes once more. "C'mon," she said, leading them back up to the room where Salil was still asleep.

She chuckled at the comment, she could accept the certainty that one sweep of Raziela’s finger on a most assured spot that they would miss would be a dead giveaway. “We’re screwed either way,” she mumbled with a faint smile, thinking there was no reason to feel beaten up by the inevitable. However the book was something that caught Dahria’s attention, nodding before she followed the daemoness back to the room. She made sure the hallway was empty before she closed the door behind her, moving over to sit on the bed. “Go on dont be shy. Show me what you’ve got,” she urged her enthusiastically, which could sound quite wrong if taken out of context.

Reaching the room they did without getting spotted, and luckily so. Nithmeia wasn't really in the mood to explain to the daemons keeping them captive why both her and the fenix were covered in dust and dirt. Inside the room, Salil was awake, sitting on the bed as he yawned just the moment that the two women entered the room. "Where have you two been?" he asked, widening his eyes as he saw how they both looked, but Nithmeia simply shushed him, waving her hand to signal he shouldn't worry about it. He mumbled something about being irresponsible, but it was clear from his gaze he was curious to follow along with what they were doing. From her shirt Nithmeia pulled out an old book that looked more like a diary of some sort, along with the pendant she had picked up from the ground. It was silver, and from the looks of it it looked like it could be opened, however the tiefling was much more interested in the book itself. She broke the seal, opening it to the first page as her eyes widened. "This isn't a diary ... It's a record," she said, showing the index where each child was listed in birth order along with what race they were. "Simeon, Andrew, Jasper, Elora, Raziela," she mumbled, frowning as she could recognize to of the names as what Dahria had said in the basement.

She could understand Salil’s confusion, but she also joined in on quieting him down with a finger lifted to her lips. It also wasnt really that interesting a story that it had to be retold so whoever might be listening would know every detail of their little advebture. She was looking on as the daemoness showed her findings, looking at the book before she picked up the pendant. There was a button and she was balancing her finger over it before she decided that it was better to not open it. Her interest shifted anyway as Nithmeia disclosed that it was not a diary but a record. The names listed making her narrow her eyes a little. “The kids on the painting,” she mumbled scratching the side of her neck. “What more?” She asked, looking at the pendant before lookin at the book.

"Well ... Some of it is written in the infernal language; It's a very old one but we tieflings have passed it down through generations," she explained, wondering if she was good at translating. She flipped to the next page frowning as she wasn't quite sure if she was supposed to read this out loud. "These are their daemonic names," she said, pointing to the five circles written in to the book. "It's fairly normal for a demon to have two names; One which can be used to control them and one that they use for everyday life," she explained, frowning as she looked at them. She didn't even dare speak them, mostly because she didn't want to accidentally cause trouble. Flipping through another pair of pages she stopped as she reached the page about Jasper, frowning as she read through this, placing a few fingers over her lips as she let out a small gasp. "Dahria ... This, gods, this is bad; They ... They tortured these kids to force out their abilities ... This Jasper seemed to have gotten the worst of it," she said, pointing at a place on the page where it said the recommended punishment was daily beatings and isolation. "I don't think I have the stomach for this," she whispered, closing the book as well as her eyes to gather herself a bit.

She looked at the markings in the book; even if Nithmeia hadnt explained, Dahria could tell that it was probably something daemonic. And by the way it was all set up, it didnt seem to just be a regular record book, it seemed far more organized and thought out. The circles made her frown as she looked at them closer. She could tell them apart, but she wouldnt know what they said or if they were even names like Nithmeia said. It was fascinating but chilling at the same time, though she felt a little jealous that she couldnt read it. “I’m guessing the control is for other daemons to use,” she thought out loud. She looked on as the daemoness which she now knew was called a tiefling flipped through the pages and all she could do was wait for some sort of translation. Only that the more Nithmeia seemed to learn, the more Dahria’s jealousy disappeared from the look on her face as she read. The mention of torture made her frown. “Tortured? Why? Does it say why?” She asked, lifting her eyes to look at Nithmeia. Her whisper made her shake her head, placing a hand on hers. “We’ll be skinned for this anyway. Might as well learn the whole truth,” she encouraged her, but she also felt bad for trying to push her. If she could read it, she would have so she could spare her the horrors unfolding in every page.

Nithmeia didn't know if she liked this. This wasn't what she had thought it was, she had hoped it might've been one of the children's diary or maybe another strange book. However this seemed wrong. The fenix however didn't seem as discouraged, but perhaps it was because she was wanting to know more. Nithmeia couldn't blame her, but alas she reopened the book, moving over to sit down on the bed next to Salil. "Alright, but I don't want to read every one of them ... Pick one," she said, feeling like she had a lump in her throat.

The book was opened again and Dahria looked at the pages. She didnt know what was on either of them, so when she was told to pick, she grabbed the book to flip through the pages herself. She wanted to find the right page, but she didnt know which it would be. It didnt matter anyway, because the door opened and a taller brute stepped through, surprising Dahria enough to make her jump and close the book. He looked quite like Raziela, only taller and broad in every way. “A fenix?” He asked before looking at some of the daemons behind him. Dahria looked back at Nithmeia as she seized the opportunity and tried to slip the book into her pocket slowly. The brute suddenly grabbed her arm to stop her, looking at the book. “What’s that?” He asked. This was it. He knew what book she was holding and there was no way of hiding it; but it didnt stop her from trying. “I-its just my diary,” she mumbled, trying to pull her arm free. She couldnt tell if he believed her lie yet her eyes remained strong. His eyes were dark as night, just like Raziela’s, only so cold, angry and something else she couldnt pinpoint. His grip released and she was free to slip the book away, she wondered if he just didnt give a shit or would tell Raziela later to let her handle it instead. He did however take the pendant from the bed to inspect it, somehow managing to look rather unhappy at the sight of it. “Where did you get this?” He demanded to know, looking at the both of them. As if their dust covered clothes wasnt giving it away as bright as day.

Nithmeia let the fenix flip through the book, but as the door opened, her eyes flew to the giant brute in the door. Salil got to his feet as the daemon got closer, gritting his teeth and ready to fight even though he knew the odds were against him. "Let her go," the female tiefling demanded, her red eyes staring directly at the tall brute. There was something familiar about him, but she couldn't put a finger on it. "Let her go or I'l tear you apart," she said, not messing around. She knew such an act would kill her too, but she was not letting the brute hurt her new friend. Dahria had helped her, she had helped Salil, so this was the least she could offer. "I found it," Nithmeia confessed. "I went down to the basement and I found the pendant and the book in the hallway leading north," she said, but it was clear she wasn't letting them know that Dahria had in fact been with her, even though they both were covered in dust.

The brute seemed to ignore the tiefling, keeping his eyes on the fenix as if she was the one who was supposed to answer. But Nithmeia was persistent and her threat managed to make him scoff before he released the fenix, letting her have the book. The pendant however was another matter. He knew the answer but he wanted to hear them admit it. “That basement is hidden for a reason. If I catch you snooping around once again, the world will have two less abominations and a fenix to worry about,” he said rather aggressively, turning his eyes to Salil if he was still standing. “I’m not here to fight, but I could break those wrists again if you feel like it,” he said dryly, before looking at Nithmeia. “You. Come with me,” he said, making Dahria frown as she stood up, only to realize that he was just as tall as he looked. Before she could even say anything, he pushed her onto the bed in a simple push, keeping his eyes on Nithmeia. “I wasnt asking,” he warned her. Why did it always have to be so difficult?

Nithmeia knew they had been in over their heads and now they were going to answer to that, or rather him. Salil frowned, recognizing the brute as one of the daemons that had kept him captured. The male tiefling knew what the brute was capable of. It seemed like they were getting off with a warning, but then the brute looked to her. Nithmeia swallowed, not really wanting to follow along. It seemed like her friends agreed, but as Dahria got pushed back, Salil seemed to distance himself from the brute. "Alright," she said calmly, she wasn't going to fight it. Maybe he was going to make an example of her? String her up by her toes and let her suffer for a while? Nithmeia turned to look at her friends, gesturing to stand down before following the large brute. Once outside on the hall she looked up at him. "You didn't have to push her," she said.

Dahria wasnt happy about this, but surely speaking out would only make things worse. So she kept still, sitting on the bed as she watched the two leave. The brute let Nithmeia walk out first, placing the pendant in his pocket on the way. He closed the door and decided it was better to leave the two daemons behind to stand watch. “None of them leaves this room without a proper reason. Understood?” He asked them, to which both nodded obidiently. Nithmeia spoke and it made him scoff once again, like somehow every word that came from her was amusing to him. “I dont accept moral checks from an underground abimomination like you,” he replied leading the way down the hallway. He went past the cupboard that the two girls had gone through not long ago, leading her to a completely different place. “Your kind has done well in hiding from the rest of the world. So we dont have to see our own failure whenever we look at you,” he said, quite the backhanded compliment being crushed to an insult in an instant. “But since we arent allowed to kill you both, it’s better to help you adapt. You’ll get nowhere in this world with those horns and purple skin,” he said, looking ahead and not at her once. “Can you change your looks by your own will?” He asked. Frankly there was not enough knowledge about the failed tieflings to disclose just what they were able to do with their powers.

Nithmeia didn't like the way the daemon was talking, even less so how he demanded authority. She was going along with it, mostly because she wasn't reckless; she knew they could hurt Salil if she misbehaved. Underground abomination. That was new. While they walked she looked around, her red eyes trying not to squint at the light coming from the windows. "There's nothing wrong with the way I look," she protested when he started explaining that she would need to hide. Back home she had quite the amount of suitors, her marks being a clear sign of beauty, and here he was saying that she needed to hide that? Who did he think he was? "Just because your ancestors created my kind does not give you the right to rule us now; We've had many years without you and if you think you can take our autonomy, then you're wrong," she said. The tieflings didn't have a classic monarchy style of ruling, instead it was very much based in voting and having a few of the elders lead. "Besides, changing in to someone I'm not will take too much energy; I might be able to hold it for a few hours, but Salil might only be able to hold it for a few minutes," she explained.

He listened to her as he kept walking in this house that could almost seem endless in a way. “I’m not doing this because of the kindness of my heart, believe me. If I could let you out on the street and not care which daemon would kill you, I would,” he replied with a shake of his head. Could she just stop arguing already? Her explanation made him sigh, a small smile appearing on his lips, “I thought as much. Which is why I’m giving you the opportunity to prolong your disguise.... But not your friend Salil. This is a one time offer,” he explained, hoping it would make her think twice before straight up refusing. “That hole or entrance you came from was found. But since Alyssa has shut down the hunt, we’ve blown it up. There’s no way for you to return to your people anytime soon. And if you decide to stay purple and obvious, you might be killed,” he simply put it for her before he opened a door to a room and held the door for her to enter. The room was as basic as the rest of the house.

Nithmeia swallowed at his suggestion. Why was she given the opportunity and not Salil? Had they figured it out yet? That she had more power than she led on? However strangely she kept her mouth shut as he opened the door for her she entered, looking around as she wondered what was going to happen. "You still think you have a claim to Torch?" she said with a small scoff, shaking her head slightly as she walked over to the window. Her eyes were starting to adjust, but her vision would always be better at night. "What do I have to give in return? I mean doing business with a daemon is never free," she said, turning around to face the daemon himself. Her tail moving slowly as if she was awaiting what he might do. They were alone and he was a fairly large guy. She wouldn't be able to mark out a sign of protection before he could strangle her, that was for sure. "And what of Salil? Can he return home and you keep me in exchange and in good faith?" she asked. Perhaps the daemons wanted to know more, perhaps they wanted to figure out how they survived and Nithmeia was a key to that.

“It is still ours by right. Not a single purple freak or capitalist is going to change that,” he assured her. It was hard enough to change one daemon’s mind once they had set it on something, imagine five of those daemons with the right authority to enforce it. If she thought they would care one bit what her people thought, she was naive, if not stupid in his eyes. “Nothing is for free. We want you to be your people’s representative. We want to learn about your kind and eventually find a reason not to erradicate the enterity of your race,” he explained, closing the door behind him. He gestured to a table in the middle of the room before sitting down himself. Her question about her friend made him sigh. “We dont give a shit about what he does from now on. Obviously from the looks of it, a man in love, he most probably wont leave your side. So keep him as a pet if you’d like, we dont care” he explained, pulling out some papers that he placed at her seat. Most of it was just insurance that she would be fine in exchange of what Andrew had told her. “If you need an extra push to sign these papers, then know that if you decline, I’ll kill that fenix,” he coldly said, laying a pen next to the papers as he looked at her.

Nithmeia had never hated daemons, mostly because they had been so far from her life and reality. But standing amongst them she couldn't help but wonder how she would've been if the tieflings had survived and stayed with their creators. Would they had been used like slaves still? Or perhaps given a promotion to pets? This unknown daemon kept calling her and her kind freaks, but had he taken a good look in the mirror lately? He wasn't exactly appealing to her either. His pale skin and black beady eyes just didn't scream attractive to her. He spoke harshly and she wondered why was acting this way. Had they not already captured her and made her their possession? When he spoke about Salil she rolled her eyes, mostly because she had tried getting the tiefling to stop his emotions. She had made it clear so many times that she was not interested, yet he kept trying to pursue her. "You threaten me quite a bit - I wonder where all that anger comes from," she thought out loud, looking him up and down as she sat down at the table in front of him. She took the paper, frowning as she read through. English wasn't her first language, but she could understand it pretty well. "I will sign ... If you provide Salil passage home as I do not wish to deal with him and that you see the fenix isn't harmed," she said calmly. There was a knock on the door, making Nithmeia frown. In stepped the daemoness, the one everyone regarded as their leader. "Aelius, we agreed on both being here," she reprimanded him, stepping over to stand beside him. Her whole being emanating control and power, very unlike Raziela. "Now, these are my captives, not yours nor your Order's," she reminded him. Her and Andrew knew each other pretty well. Leaning down she placed her lips to his ear. "But let us not fight, we are still family to some extent," she whispered calmly.

“Keep asking and you’ll find out,” he warned her, though he waited patiently for her to sit. He wasnt exactly in the mood for this, but it wasnt like there ever would be a time where he was. He let her read the paper, his expression remaining the same; but her words did make him think. He knew exactly where his anger was from, but saying it wouldnt change anything. He wasnt satisfied when she spoke her terms, because he didnt think she was allowed any sort of terms at all. The knock on the door made him sigh and in came Alyssa. He had almost gotten away with it. “Well I’m an impatient man and they were snooping around,” he explained, looking back at Nithmeia for a second. Even if Alyssa was beaming with power and control, it didnt move Andrew the slightest, he actually seemed quite calm with her around as if there was some old bond of sorts. “If I remember correctly, they were caught by Raziela, until you decided to give them indepedence,” he argued. Her whisper made him shrug, “I think we have different views on family,” he replied, as harmless as it could seem; it was a taunt, a subtle one at best for those who knew the story of how Simeon became a stepdad over a real dad. He looked at Nithmeia again, “But then you’ll get the honour of telling her how we’re not giving her boyfriend safe passage to their home or wasting men on babysitting thr fenix. Why is the fenix even still here?” He asked, looking up at Alyssa with a confused frown on his brow.

Nithmeia felt confused and it didn't really help that another daemon entered the room. Instead of interrupting she simply sat there, looking at the exchange. Alyssa smiled at Andrew at his snarky remark, but it didn't really affect her. In fact, she was proud of her accomplishments and her son had grown up to be independent and strong. Wasn't that what every mother wanted for their children? Apparently not from the stories she had heard from Simeon. His words about what the purple woman probably had demanded made her roll her eyes, but his last question made a smile appear on her lips. "Family help each other ... And that little fenix is going to do wonders for our little Raziela," she smiled, raising an eyebrow at Andrew. Was he really as thick skulled as he looked, our could he see the lifeline she was throwing him. Of course she had heard of the debacle with Buffy and the Aelius family, but Alyssa knew that it was only out of force that the brute had been involved. Alyssa was a fair woman, but her family came first. "If it's any information to you, the fenix and your sister shared a bed last night and were spotted using the shower together this morning," she said. Couldn't he understand that Alyssa wanted him on her side if things were to go down. Digging in to her bag she pulled out a small envelope handing it to him. "I also pulled some strings for you ... Giving you a months leave from your responsibilities at the Order - I've heard you wanted to travel," she said, shrugging as if it was nothing. Alyssa was cunning, she knew how to pull strings and she did so viciously. Alyssa turned her gaze towards Nithmeia. "As regarding our little beaming representative, I think we should simply execute the male ... Wouldn't want them growing in numbers over here, do we?" she said. Nithmeia had panic in her eyes. From what she could tell, they would spare the fenix, but for how long was uncertain. However Salil? She was shaking a little, knowing that if she didn't sign it would mean that the fenix would die as well. Her eyes filled with tears as she took the pen, signing her daemonic name, knowing it would bind her to fulfill this agreement.

Andrew was smart but he was also blinded by his anger at the same time. So when Alyssa didnt see the problem in wasting resources, he was quite confused if not irritated. But as she went on to explain what she had learned and what was happening, the revelation unfolded in his eyes and he softened up for just a moment at the realization; This was the payback he had been waiting to get. “I see,” he simply replied but that was also enough to show the empusa that she was winning him over. He took the envelope and looked at it. “Bribery it is,” he concluded, stuffing the envelope in his pocket as the attention was directed towards Nithmeia. He could see the panic in her, but he didnt feel bad for her in any regard, because for him this was normal. “We do not. But he could serve one last purpose,” he pondered before he looked at the tiefling, nodding to himself. “I’m sure the love he bears for her is pumping through his veins like pure magick. Now, for her to get her full diguise, at least in the legends... She could eat his soul and save us the dirty work?” he suggested as he snatched the signed paper from the table to make sure there were no takebacks. Andrew could be just as calculating and crude as Simeon, it only was that he didnt do it unecessarily.
