Salil didn't really know what to tell her, or if he was even supposed to say anything at all. She seemed to still be considering what those feelings had meant, but it worried her that she wasn't at least a bit frightened.
In silence he followed her into the home, watching her with drowsy eyes as she dropped down and revealed a trap door. He went down, seeing perfectly in the dark and seeing something that looked comfortable against a wall. He guessed it was some kind of bed, sitting down with his back against the wall he enjoyed for a while the darkness around him. It felt relieving almost. However she went to turn on some lights, and he couldn't really blame her. She probably didn't have a great view in the dark, but it did make him pull the hood down further over his eyes. "You surface dwellers sure love your light," he commented, not knowing if he was trying to be funny or not. He opened his cloak, looking at his white shirt underneath soaked in his now dried blood. Breathing out in a sigh he decided to remove it along with the hood for now. He needed to tend to his wounds, and the sooner the better. "I will be in debt to you after this," he said, looking at Dahria and squinting his eyes because the light was rather bright.

His comment made her stop from turning on the last lamp. Was the light hurting him? She stood still for a moment, letting him undress from the cloak. She went into another room and fetched an old first aid kit. She placed it next to him and shrugged at his words. “No you wont. I chose to help all on my own. That’s not on you,” she said, opening the kit to look it through. She’d guess he just had to scavenge for the supplies he needed, as not everything was to be found. She went and found a few other kits, deciding that she’d be better off with a whole kit and a few messy ones. She let him have the kit she had pulled out first while she placed the things that had to go in it within his reach. “Tell me if you need help,” she said before she went to grab a soda for herself. She had a few cans left, and keeping them here underground kept them cool.

Salil scoffed at her remark about doing this by her free will. Part of him found it hard to believe. However for now he decided not to comment further, as he knew how stubborn women could be. That was one thing that he found rather amusing from seeing other races; How alike each gender was compared to what he knew.
He ripped his shirt in to long strips, at least the part of it that wasn't already soaked and dirtied. When she returned with the first aid kit he looked at it for a while, frowning as he clearly didn't know what good all of those white things would do. "I think I need help understanding this," he said, touching a few of the cleaning packets, not that he knew what it was. "And I need to know if you can sew?" he said, closing his eyes to relax his eyes a little from the light.

She eyed the kit as he didnt seem too certain of it, drawing in a deep breath. “Right,” she mumbled to herself as she went back to him, grabbing a package. She ripped it and pulled out the alcohol soaked cloth, offering it to him. “It cleans the wound. Keeps you from getting an infection. But it stings a lot,” she warned him, to then frown a little at his question. “I did a lot of sewing as a kid. But that was only in the cloth I wanted to transform into clothes,” she remarked, but she would have to try. She heated up a needle to sterilize it before she looked at him. “I dont have anything to soothe the pain,” she said in a defeated tone. Not even painkillers were kept around in case some junkie found their way down here.

He looked at the cloth, feeling it cold against his fingertips, but he followed her instructions, pressing it to the large gash he had on the side of his ribs. Wincing, he pressed his eyes harder together until he dared moving the cloth to clean it properly. Once it was clean, or at least as clean as it could get, he turned his side to her. His skin was purple, blue markings up along his side as if it was peacock feathers. "Just sew," he said, grabbing on to something, what he didn't know with his eyes closed.
He felt each stitch like fire through his body, but he did his best to remain quiet and sit still. It didn't change that his eyes still stung from it hurting so much. But it needed to be done, it wouldn't heal without some help. "You are doing great," he praised her, even though he probably was the one needing the most praise. The thing was that he needed her right now, he couldn't sew himself as it was located at a strange angle.

She looked at the exposed wound, frowning a little to herself. Had they cut him or had the beating just been severe enough to tear his skin apart? She readied the needle and thread and cleaned her hands in a thorough manner, taking in a deep breath as she prepared herself mentally before she carefully reached out. She pinched the skin together, not too much, but just enough to remind her how it was supposed to look. She started sewing, unsure if he wanted her to take it slow or just get it over with. She went with a middleground between the two as she frowned deep from concentration. His praise felt odd because she didnt feel like she deserved it. She was just delivering some lowgrade stitchery, that would probably make a professional pull at their own hair in frustration. “Almost done,” she announced, glancing shortly up at him before she got to the other end of the wound. She bound a knot on the thread and grabbed a couple of scissors to cut it short. She grabbed some gauze and placed a woolen pad over the finished work, wrapping the gauze around him loosely but tight enough to keep the woolen patch in place. “You need to switch that for however long it takes you to heal,” she said, looking at her hands that had some of his blood on them. She grabbed a new sanitary cloth and wiped her hands.

Once she was done he let her wrap his torso with the gauze, staring a bit blankly in to the room at it felt like his ears were ringing from the pain. He nodded lazily, laying down on the mattress, trying not put too much pressure on the newly sewn wound. "I need some rest ... And prepare myself for tomorrow," he said, frowning at his own words. He felt very guilty having Nithmeia stuck with the daemons. He felt his eyes sting once more, mumbling something in daemonic, almost like he was talking to someone, but he wasn't. Frankly he didn't know how he was ever going to sleep knowing just how cruel those devils had been to him. "Would this place be available for Nithmeia as well?" he asked.

She didnt seem to mind that he needed rest. It made sense with the wounds that he had. “I’ll leave you to it then,” she said, thinking her parents had probably blown up her phone at this point and contemplated calling the authorities. The thought made her frown a little. She was pulled from her thoughts at his question, nodding as she looked around. “I’ll have to figure out how to get you food. Depending on what you eat,” she pondered, scratching her chin a little. She went to the ladder, looking back at Salil before she tilted her head. “What herbs can I get you?” She asked. Hopefully it wasnt something too difficult, but she knew it probably wasnt just something she could find in the forest. “Sleep well Salil,” she said as she climbed up the ladder. Hopefully he could figure out on his own how to turn off the lights.

A couple of days went by, she had spent most days searching for the herbs that Salil needed. All the botany stores that she had to search thoroughly. And yet she found herself thinking of the pretty girl and Nithmeia. She hoped the purple daemon wasnt doing too bad. That the pretty girl had had some sort of mercy on her. But it was probably just a waste of her hope. She ran her hand down some flowers as she suddenly realized that the plant she was touching was exactly what she needed. She made a little victory hop and picked up the plant to take it to the counter. She bought it to her parents’ dismay and went on her way to the secret hideout.

Salil nodded at her words. He couldn't remember last he had ate, but he didn't know if he had the power in him to tell her that he could survive off of souls. However it was mostly frowned upon in tiefling circles as they would've had to survive off of themselves back home. "Fresh sage," he simply replied. He could handle dried as well, but it wasn't as pleasant to chew on for him.

As the days passed, Salil slowly healed, gaining his strength back however didn't make him less calm. He was sitting up in the dark, his eyes closed as he tried to relax, but his mind kept thinking og Nithmeia. He kept returning to the thought that that tiny empusa might've ended her life. "I need to find her," he said as Dahria finally returned, his eyes glowing in the darkness, but his balance was still off. "I cannot sit here much longer and do nothing while she suffers," he added, looking at the young fenix with a pained expression.

She would have thought that his impatience would get to him at some point. She could recognize love when she saw it and he was definitely a man in love. She barely made it down the ladder with the plant in her arms, grunting as she placed the pot on the floor and sat down next to it. She finally answered after a short while, looking up at him. “I’ve only just got you your herb. I know you want to save her, but it’s stupid to go out there without your full strength,” she said in a serious tone, picking off a leaf and placing it in her mouth. She remembered how her mom loved using this kind of herb to add some freshness. “Do you want to be sucessful or dead?” She then asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"But the longer I stay here, the longer she suffers," he argued, leaning against a wall, crossing his arms in front of his chest, grunting slightly as he still felt the stitches right on his ribs. Her question made him sigh, looking down, his red eyes showing just how torn he was. "I'd rather be dead if it means she is safe and out of harms way," he finally confessed. "I know I don't mean the same for her, I've made my peace with that, but I cannot stop myself from caring," he said, shaking his head a little in shame. He knew that him and Nithmeia wouldn't ever happen, they had been through their ups and downs, and he feared that it hadn't put him in a good light. "It's my fault that she is where she is," he breathed out.

His confession made her frown, raising an eyebrow at him. “Have I made an impact?” She scoffed, but she wouldnt let it get any lighter than that. This wasnt a joking matter. She corrected some leaves on the plant, “Things like that can change so fast. At one point you’ll have her all over you, the next she could be ripping out your hair,” she thought with a shrug. She lifted her knees to her chest and hugged her legs close. Somehow it made her think of her own experience with relationships. “As long as there has been something, it’s not completely hopeless,” she mumbled as she felt a bitter taste in her mouth. He was blaming himself for what Dahria guessed was their current situation. “Getting caught?” She asked with her head tilted to the side - Better safe than sorry.

He exhaled, ignoring her words, because of course she had, but it wasn't something he was going to comment on. However her next words made him frown, looking at her as she sounded more like she was describing something she had experienced herself. "I love Nithmeia, if it is what you are referring to, but she has made it clear that the love is to stay platonic," he said, and he planned to honor her wishes. He just wanted her in his life, but after this he wasn't sure what their relationship would be. They had always been close; The couple of friends that everyone around them always said would end up together. Breathing out he felt a bitter taste in his mouth. "I was only caught because I didn't abide by the rules; We have very certain times of the month where it is safe to scavenge, but I wanted to get her a crystal ... It was stupid and some daemons found me wandering the Wasteland of Torch," he said.

She frowned at his words but she understood what he meant. She couldnt really give him any useful advice to that, as it was a complicated matter. Instead she just nodded and looked down into the ground for a bit.
His story made her sigh deeply as she ran a hand through her long hair. Normally she was hiding it in a bun or something else, but today she had let it loose down one side. “I see,” she mumbled against her knees and closed her eyes for a second as she thought it through. “Torch is that former daemon place, isnt it?” She asked, looking at him. She didnt know that much about other species, mostly because she hadnt ever been able to sit still in school which had taken a toll on her knowledge of things.
“Eat your greens already, I searched far and wide for it,” she suddenly mumbled, pushing the plant towards him.

"It is," Salil confirmed, but otherwise remaining silent. What was going through her mind right now? That it couldn't be possible to be from Torch? That is was burned to a crisp long before either of them were born. However instead she mumbled about the plant and he sat down across from her. He plucked off a leaf, looking at it and seeing it perfectly despite the darkness. "You've had heartbreak, I take it? Seeing as you are curling together like that," he commented, putting the sage between his teeth, chewing it a bit before placing it under his tongue.

His question should have felt intrusive, but she didnt really think of it as that. However she simply shrugged and sighed before she firmly shook her head. “Not my heart,” she admitted, looking down at the ground with sad eyes. “A friend once fell in love with me too. But I couldnt really return his feelings... which I couldnt understand then, but do now,” she said feeling her eyes sting a little. She just blinked it away and looked up at Salil. “I’m sure the last thing Nithmeia wants is to hurt you,” she said with a sad smile, before looking down at the ground again, her thoughts bubbling up from their hidey hole.
“What’s it supposed to do?” She asked, looking at the plant between them, hugging her own legs a little closer.

Salil just listened, mostly because he was curious, and he needed a distraction from his worrying mind. It seemed like she needed some distraction as well. Her words about Nithmeia didn't comfort him however. The fenix redirected the attention to the small plant between them, making him smile a little softly. "It calms me in ways I cannot explain, but you might find it has another affect on you," he said. In fact there were many uses of sage, not just chewing it, but it was much easier just to pluck it fresh and chew. "Tell me, what is a fenix?" he asked curiously.

She shrugged at his words, "We use it in food. My mom especially likes to chop it up and put it in a bowl with a little bit of sour cream," she explained, rubbing a leaf between two fingers before smelling them. Smelled just like home to her. She wasnt sure how many times she would see the flowers in a salad, but the memory made her smile faintly.
"A fenix... Well. I guess I have to explain it differently to you. Do you now a lot about mythical creatures?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. If he didnt, she would shake her head and wave her hand at him while mumbling a nevermind. She leaned back and placed her hands on the surface behind her. "We are different from humans in the way I explained to you the other night. Our life is an never ending cycle of being born, dying and then be reborn, it is said that before we gained a human form, we were all the same burning mockingbird flying across the skies," she said as she looked up at the trap door. She could see a faint outline of the light from outside. "We hate the cold and have this sort of inner fire inside of us," she explained lifting a relaxed hand to her chest that she clutched. "You can see it in our eyes," she then said, pointing to her icy blue eyes that always seemed to compete with the flames - Cold and warmth, both wanting to be the most prominent. "

He leaned back as the flavor of the sage spread in his mouth, looking at her with his red eyes focussing on her. Shrugging a bit at her question, mostly because he knew very little of other races, besides tieflings and daemons of course. And he had of course heard the seraphim, but he guessed a fenix was very different. And it sounded so, looking at her, not taking his eyes off of her as she spoke, he was in awe. A burning bird in the sky landing and now she was here. That was an amazing thing for him to think about. When she mentioned her eyes, he made an effort to look closely, and as he saw the flames his eyes widened in surprise. "Incredible," he said in a surprised voice. "So when you die, it is not over?" he asked, clearly wanting a bit of elaboration. He had heard her speak of it the first night, but he had been much too hurt to actually listen closely.

She could tell that he was truly listening to her and somehow it felt nice. She would by this time have felt so impatient and just wanting to go somewhere new, but she was also bracing herself for going back out there when the time came and he was fully healed - Of course she wouldnt take no for an answer if he went to tell her she couldnt come with him.
The surprise in his eyes made a heartily chuckle leave her lips as she fluttered shortly with her lashes to add some sort of dramatic effect. She shrugged at his question. "Well it is over for this life that I'm living. I wont wake up in this body and live the same life over and over. Every life is different, even if that's in a bad sense," she explained, stretching her legs before crossing them over each other. "What happens to you if you die?" she asked, thought it felt a little rude to ask.

"Do you ... Remember your pasts then?" he asked, trying to wrap his head around it. Of course he couldn't truly, as he still needed time to process it, but hearing her chuckle did make him feel a bit more relaxed. On the other hand, it made him miss the laughter that Nithmeia provided, and it made him a little sad. The question was thrown back but he simply shrugged. "We do not know," he confessed, taking out the small leaf, sucking on it for a bit before placing it back under his tongue. "Most think we get thrown in to the Abyssus, our souls probably devoured by the creatures roaming it," he said, shrugging lightly. "We are immortal, but we are fairly easy to kill," he explained.

"Nope," she quickly answered, making a crooked smile. She knew there was a way, but she had a worry that finding out wouldnt prove to be as exciting as she thought it might be. "I dont want to know either. I'm supposed to live my life now at it's fullest. So I dont think about the past," she explained.
She nodded at his answer and frowned a little when he threw out what he thought might happen. She had read about the Abyssus and it's importance for daemons. It seemed more like a cruel play made by their god. "So like humans but without aging?" she asked just to understand. She then realized something, gasped before she reached down her pocket. She pulled out a packet of pills, throwing it towards Salil. "Usually, these can take most pains. Only two, no more should do the trick," she said. Her phone rang and she got up before picking it up. She was mostly quiet and by the end of the call, she turned her head to look at him, "I'll have to go now. Enjoy your plant," she said as she grabbed the ladder and quite abruptly made her exit.

"I guess so," Salil replied, shrugging as he wasn't quite sure what a human was. At least he knew he had never met one.
