| She kept pulling but it was like it was stuck in something. She widened her eyes a little as she realized it was going to be far more complicated than she originally had thought. "I'm trying," she mumbled, a deep frown on her brows as she pressed on where she thought the thread was stuck. She sighed and grabbed the scissors, cutting the thread manually to pull out the small pieces as fast and effectively as she could. "Sorry, sorry," she mumbled for every small thread she pulled. Eventually they were all out and she wiped it with the alcohol cloth to be sure. "You dont need to the gauze" she assured him, pushing herself up as she grabbed the stuff they had used to throw out. |

| When she had sewn him, he had been hurting so much that he had barely felt the pain, however now he could feel it completely. It was as if it was digging in to his skin, groaning as she kept apologizing. He just wanted it done with, wanted it out of his body before he could go out and find one of his kin. Once she was finished he leaned back against the wall, heaving for air as he was trying to calm down from the rollercoaster of pain. Nodding at her words he took some time to gather himself before standing up, trying to move a little. It still felt a little tight, but far from as bad as it had been to begin with. "Thank you," he breathed out in a relieving voice. "Now, I need to find Nithmeia ... I've left her alone for far too long now," he said, reaching up to open the trapdoor. He was in a hurry, or it felt so as he cloaked himself, hiding away his fiendish looks. "Thank you for all your help ... I'm sure she will need some help once I've rescued her," he said. |

| She let him collect himself but as he went to the trapdoor and seemed to want to make his farewell, she shook her head, running over to cover the stairs with her arm. "No, hell no, you're not doing this!" she objected, looking at him with serious eyes. "You'll have a higher chance at succeeding if I come with you!" she raised her voice in a serious voice, looking at his red eyes with determination. She hadnt nursed him back to health just to know that he went out there to die. |

| Salil frowned as she stepped in front of him, looking at her as she objected to what he was about to do. He smiled at her, moving a hand over to remove some of her loose hair, placing it behind her ear. "You have a good heart, Dahria, but I've lived longer than most ... I am willing to risk it for the one I care for more than anything," he said in a calm voice. He flashed her a small smile, displaying his fangs. "Besides, she will need you to nurse her back to health, just like you did me," he said. He couldn't risk having a mortal girl with him like this. He would never forgive himself if something were to happen to her. |

| His hand moving some of her hair behind her ear didnt seem to faze her much. But she wasnt willing to give up. "You're making a mistake," she said with sad eyes. His addition made her eyes sting a little. "This is bullshit," she mumbled, shaking her head. She knew he loved her, but this was insane. He wouldnt stand a chance against the people who had captured him, how else did he get caught in the first place? "Dont do this," she begged, looking up at him with pleading eyes. |

| "If I don't do this, then nobody will ... Nobody cares about us, nobody even knows we exist," he sighed, shaking his head a little. Breathing out he looked down, what could he say to convince her? "Do you still have the ring that she gave you?" he then suddenly asked. |

| "I'm offering my help and you're just shrugging it away! I care Salil I care..." she argued. Why was he saying nobody cared when she obviously did? When he asked about the ring, she pulled it out of her pocket, looking at it before looking at him. "Take me with you," she pleaded, grabbing his lower arm. |

| This was a bad idea, but he did admire her courage. "Alright ... I'll bring you along, but you must wear that ring for your own protection's sake," he said. He stood for a while, looking at her as he shook his head at himself. He gave in too quickly, and now she was going to end up hurt one way or another. "And stay close to me, try not to gather too much attention to yourself," he said, waiting for her to open the trap door. |

| It did make her feel better that he gave in and she nodded at his instructions, slipping on the ring. She wasnt going to sit by and wait for Nithmeia to come here. How would she even know the way? He hadnt thought about what would happen if he died in the middle of it all. She nodded at his words, opening the trapdoor for them to leave. She collected her long ravenblack hair in a bun and pulled her hood over her head. If anything, she could serve as a distraction by covering her face with her hood. Right? |

| Luckily for them, it was night out and Salil could remember the path they had taken. He couldn't move fast, it would risk breaking up any wounds once more. "Why do you care?" he asked, finding it odd that a stranger would even consider helping out. |

| "What a dumb question to ask," she just shrugged him off, following his tempo as she looked ahead. "You think you can just spend all that time with me and then expect me not to care when you decide to go out and kill yourself?" she asked as she looked at him with a frown. She wasnt really angry, she just wanted him to understand. She hadnt expected this when she had gone out that night to take a picture of a painted brick wall in the ruins. |

| He didn't see it as dumb, he actually saw it as something worth while. However he hadn't expected her next words. Had their time spent together meant something to her? He couldn't really believe it, as he hadn't really done anything. "I guess I am not used to being cared for," he said sourly. |

| His sour words made her sigh, "Get used to it then," she said as she made a small smile at him. She looked back ahead and began to recognize their surroundings. She wondered if the pretty daemon would be there too. Surely she would. She seemed to have such power when she was amongst the brutes and other daemons. |

| Frankly Salil didn't know what was going through the fenix' mind. How was he going to get used to it when as soon as they had saved and healed Nithmeia he would head back to Torch with his kin. What the daemons had done had been horrible, and he wanted to put as much distance between himself and them. Voices were heard in the distance, some laughing and others out right cackling. Salil felt on edge, looking ahead to see a group of daemons clearly on guard but not caring too much, because who was going to mess with them? From inside the building Raziela stepped out, barking orders at the daemons to straighten up and show some respect before she looked up to the night sky. It was a little windy tonight, but the stars above were visible. "I'm getting bored ... She'll be dead soon anyways," she proclaimed in a sigh, moving some hair behind her ear. Salil heard, and he rushed forward before anyone could do anything, he grabbed the empusa by the neck and held her against a broken wall above the ground. The empusa widened her eyes, a bit surprised, but then she recognized the tinted skin. "Hello, beast," she said in a charming voice, not giving in to how much it actually did hurt. Salil tightened his hand, shaking with anger and Raziela chuckled. The other daemons ran over, ready to grab Salil. "If you touch him I'll have you torn apart by the hounds," she hissed. Then her eyes fell on the smaller figure behind Salil. "Oh, you brought a little backup?" she said in a condescending voice. |

| She would have thought the voices could be anyone’s but she thought that Salil might know if they were who they were looking for. The girl from so many nights ago stepped out and Dahria found herself just staring at her with a small rush in her stomach. Where was all this coming from? Salil rushed ahead and it felt just as fast as when he had saved her from the brutes. She swallowed hard and followed, just as the daemons came closer, she reached her hand down her pocket as she placed her back against Salil’s. She wasnt going to let them take him again, she had practically promised that when she begged him to drag her along. The condescending words made her shrug, it didnt really bother her with the mockery. She grabbed a good chunk of the powder, hoping she had done right in modifying it. She remembered how tight she had been gripped last time, how the marks were still a slight green on her skin. “Salil, hold your breath and close your eyes,” she warned him, just as she threw the powder around them, hoping the wind would do the rest. It wasnt going to kill any daemons, but it surely as hell would annoy their throat, eyes and mouth with the slight mix-in of holy water when it was made. |

| Dahria's warning came just in time, and Salil followed her orders, closing his eyes and holding his breath. The only thing that he didn't see was that the empusa did the same. The other daemons dispersed, coughing and rubbing their eyes as they stumbled as if they were blind. Raziela chuckled. "She's got some spice too, now I'm intrigued," the empusa said, grabbing the creatures hand and breaking it with ease to make him let go. Salil screamed, clutching his hand close to his chest as he huffed in displeasure. "Toughen up," Raziela just said, rolling her eyes before she looked to the fenix. She grabbed her hand, inspecting the loose dust still visible in her hand. "Clever girl," she praised her, her dark eyes looking in to the blue with a cutting gaze. "If you hadn't attacked us right now, I would've considered keeping you around, but hurting any daemon is seen as an offense punishable by pain," she said, clicking her tongue and shaking her head before her gaze went back to Salil. "She's inside the building, bleeding out because of your cowardice," she said with a smile on her lips, her eyes a little crazy. She stepped away from them, pushing a daemon out of her way and leading them in to the building. Inside was a horrible sight, blood splattered all over, hair clumps here and there and in the middle of the room laid the tiefling, her eyes open and blank as she was spilling blood from her neck. Salil stood still before he rushed to his love, holding her up in his arms, trying to stop the bleeding but his hand was broken and there was so much blood. "Sa ... lil ..." the tiefling whispered, her voice hoarse from screaming. "Yes, yes I'm here; Don't worry I'll get you home," he promised. Nithmeia's eyes filled with tears, but she thought it was too late. "I don't ... think ... I can ... make it," she whispered, Salil's eyes filling with tears. |

| Maybe a wiser choice would have been to warn him beforehand, because as the powedery dust disappeared from the air around them, she realized the empusa had done the same. Salil’s scream made her widen her eyes and then the girl was grabbing her hand. She frowned a little at the compliment, because of the words that followed. “It’ll pass, they’re not actually hurting,” she mumbled but she wasnt here to argue, she was here to help Salil save Nithmeia. They were led inside the building and the stench of blood felt thick in the air, like stepping into a slaughterhouse. Nithmeia on the ground made Dahria gasp before she went with Salil. When he couldnt hold the wound, Dahria did. “You need to get her out of here,” she whispered to Salil, knowing it meant leaving her behind. She untied a scarf that she always seemed to have attached to her belt, making a makeshift solution to the problem. Then she gave him one last look before she got back on her feet. She would be fine with being left behind, afterall she had only been promised pain as punishment. |

| Even if the daemons weren't hurting, it was still viewed as an active attack on them. Inside was another story. The fresh air replaced with the stench of dried blood. Salil watched as Dahria wrapped up the wound, and once again the tiefling found himself in debt to the fenix. Her words made him frown, mostly because he knew what she implied. "No ... This time I'm leaving no-one behind," he said calmly, turning to look at the empusa.
She had placed herself a few feet away, her arms crossed across her chest, studying the trio. She could understand the kinship between the two creatures, but the fenix didn't make sense. Why would she care for such hideous beasts?"Who said anything about leaving?" Raziela chuckled, snapping her fingers, but just as she did the door slammed open. "I should've known you were up to trouble again," an authoritarian female voice sounded. In stepped a tall empusa, her hair dark and her eyes bright green. "Tell me again why you keep sneaking around my orders, dear Raziela," Alyssa said, making the daemons around them cower in fear. It showed truly who had the real power here, not the tiny empusa, but the one that had just arrived. "We've procured two suspects for the murder of your husband," Raziela said, a grin on her lips as she gestured to the two creatures huddled together with the fenix. Alyssa sighed, looking at the three on the floor she clicked her tongue, shaking her head. "My husband was killed by a daemon, we could see that on the evidence; These are, as far as I can tell, not daemons," she said. Truth was it had been Alyssa who had murdered Simeon, but she had played a masterful disguise of the distraught widow. Alyssa pointed to the fenix, gesturing her closer. "I promise not to hurt you, my words you can trust," she said calmly. If the fenix came closer, Alyssa's eyes would look in to her blue, seeing the flame that reminded her of all of the other fenix she had met through her life. "I think you are jealous of my brother, dear Raziela - Are you procuring your own fenix now?" Alyssa taunted, looking to the empusa who stood with widened eyes and an angry gaze. Alyssa turned her eyes back to the fenix. "Please tell me why you are here, be honest, and give me all of the information you have," she said. |

| Dahria felt a little hopeless as Salil denied her request. She really didnt want to argue but Nithmeia was dying, and the makeshift solution wasnt going to last forever. They had to act fast. She would have thrown herself at the pretty girl or something in the likes, probably get herself killed in the process but then the door opened. Another female stepped in and it seemed that the power she bore was far stronger than anyone’s. Dahria couldnt understand exactly what they were talking about, except that someone had been killed. She felt her curiousity spike, but asking questions at this point was not a wise move. The gesture for her to come closer made her swallow, but she complied and pulled down her hood. Looking into those green eyes, she felt like she was staring into something terrifyingly dark. She thought of a story she had heard about children of the gods, how their eyes seemed to bear a faint indication that they were different - But she had always believed it was fairy-tale stories. Now she wasnt too sure. The taunt made her look at the pretty girl who she know knew was called Raziela. It made her scoff for a second but then the tall female looked back at her. “I.... I was going to take a pictures of the murals in the area... Everything went so fast but she gave me this ring and wanted help in saving him,” she explained pointing from Nithmeia to Salil. “I tended his wounds and helped him get better so we could come save her,” she then said before she shortly glanced at Raziela. “I want my friends to be free,” she then said, which was true but that wasnt the only reason why she was here. |

| Alyssa listened to the fenix, taking her in as she just stood calmly. Raziela was boiling, but she wasn't letting it show. However something caught the empusa leader's attention. "A ring?" she repeated, frowning as she eyed the ring and then the creatures. Could it be? But they would've died out along with the scorching of Torch? Alyssa looked at the fenix as she said her wish for her friends to be free, making her sigh. In many ways the empusa had a soft spot for the youth, mostly because it reminded her so much of her son and his fierce personality."No need to worry, little one, but I do see that they need tending to," she said, gesturing with her hand for some female daemons to step forward and approach the two creatures on the ground.
Nithmeia looked at the fenix, feeling so guilty and yet in too much pain to really care in the moment. When the empusa spoke of tending to, Salil gritted his teeth, staring at the female daemons approaching them. "I won't let you touch her," he growled, clutching Nithmeia closer. However the daemons just ignored him, grabbing him and pulling him away from the bleeding tiefling. Nithmeia groaned, her voice weak and her body growing numb. "We will take good care of her until she is healed, you all three have my word," Alyssa said solemnly before she looked at Raziela. "You'll tend to the fenix, her every need and if I hear you have harmed a hair on her head, I will have you ripped apart by your piers," Alyssa ordered, the other daemons reacting with nods, all signaling they understood her order. Raziela was forced to nod as well, but it was clear how displeased she was. "Take them to one of our buildings, one of the nicer ones, and don't let them leave until we know more," Alyssa said, looking at the fenix once more before taking her leave. |

| Her gut was telling her not to trust this situation. After all, she thought or knew that she was surrounded by daemons, that typically wasnt a good sign at all. And yet it seemed that the leader saw something in her that she recognized. Whatever it was, Dahria was thanking internally for it. “Thank you,” she said with a deep exhale, looking back at Nithmeia and Salil. Hopefully this wasnt just a sort of deception to remove the two of them while leading Dahria to believe they were fine - Though it felt like that only happened in movies. She looked at the daemon approaching the two purples, a small frown appearing on her brow when Salil was getting defensive - Not that she blamed him when she thought about the beating he had endured. The leader’s word made Dahria nod slowly, eyeing Nithmeia and the wound on her neck. Hopefully she would be fine. What she hadnt expected was for Raziela to be ordered to become her csretaker or something along those lines. She didnt really mind but surely it wssnt what the daemoness had had in mind when she said she had considered keeping her around. It did feel pretty sweet though, she wasnt going to lie. “I promise I’ll be nice,” Dahria said with a teasing smile over her lips. As the leader made her leave, Dahria truly felt that they were being taken somewhere, feeling a firm yet not exactly hurtful grip on her arm. She did feel that slight feeling of having her freedom robbed, despite not being killed. She pulled her arm to herself, mumbling something about not being handicapped and needing their guidance to walk. Instead she went up to Raziela. “So how badly do you want to tear me apart?” She asked curiously. |

| Salil was still apprehensive to say the least, keeping his red eyes on Nithmeia who was being carried by a strong female daemon. He didn't like this, it felt like the way home just got a lot longer. Some might have seen what the daemons were doing as kindness, but he knew better than to trust those creatures. For years they had used his kind as foot soldiers, fighting a battle that weren't theirs to fight. However for now he would have to abide orders, it all depended on that to have Nithmeia survive this.
Raziela gritted her teeth as she moved out of the building. She hated Alyssa and everything she had done to her poor brother. How could her brother ever have accepted that she had went ahead and gotten a child outside of an arranged marriage? And how had he just taking in that selfish little brat as his own? Some things the empusa would never understand about her brother, but she knew that she had loved him, and still did despite his soul being reaped for the Abyssus. Part of her liked to think that Bael himself had drafted her brother's soul to his ethereal army, but she knew only few daemons could claim such a thing in the afterlife. Then the fenix spoke, and she felt like her blood was boiling, staring ahead as she decided not to reply at first. However something in her just knew that if she wouldn't speak, then the fenix would probably tell on her being impolite. "Not at all," she replied, and to be fair it was the truth. She didn't want to tear the fenix apart, no, she wanted to kill every fenix she saw on her path in life from now on. No questions asked. "How much are you enjoying this?" she threw back a question, keeping her black cold eyes ahead. |

| The reply was maybe not what she had thought but that just made her believe that she was lying. There had to be some sort of sour feeling to this, when she had been so certain on hurting her for what she had done to the daemons. Her question made her shrug, “Cant say yet. We’re just walking right now,” she replied, looking ahead as well, though her eyes did glance at the daemoness from time to time. She knew that there were different types of daemons, but never had she learned which was which. “What kind of daemon are you then?” She asked, tilting her head to the side. There was something supernatural about Raziela’s beauty, Dahria had seen that from the first night. She stretched shortly and folded her hands against the back of her neck, yawninh shortly, “And what’s gonna happen now?” She asked, looking ahead at Salil and Nithmeia. She was truly hoping that the two of them could relax now, just for a little while if that was all they could get. |

| If Raziela hadn't controlled herself, she was sure that her eyes would've popped out from rolling her eyes. What kind of question was that? She felt like she didn't want to answer, let it stay silent between them, but in the end she breathed out. "Empusa ... And the woman who spared your life is the leader," she said, though speaking the last part through gritted teeth. "What is going to happen now is always the question, isn't it," she said in a sour tone, however she was trying to hide it. Frankly the empusa was horrible with interactions like this. She didn't know how to small talk, she didn't even know what a fenix did, besides just existing in loops of different lives. "We'll bring you to a safe house, take care of your wounded and then the next step is up to our leader," she spoke. Perhaps she sounded brainwashed, but frankly she didn't care for Alyssa. "What do you think is going to happen?" She suddenly asked, a raised eyebrow as she already had a few ideas up her sleeve. |

| Dahria frowned a little when she realized that Raziela felt annoyed by her questions. But that wasnt going to stop her from asking anyway. She thought she wouldnt have gotten an answer, but then she spoke and the answer made Dahria feel more questions rise than being answered. “Empusa,” she repeated, looking ahead with a thoughtful look. She wondered if there was ever a chance that she could get a smile out of her. Maybe that was far off into the future or not at all. She went quiet as Raziela explained what would happen, Dahria realized that there wasnt any mention of getting back her freedom, which troubled her a little. What about the two others? Salil had spoken of going back to where theh came from, would they ever be allowed? She looked at Nithmeia again, answering the empusa with a thoughtful hum before she just trotted ahead to the wounded. “Nithmeia?” She asked with her head tilted a little to the side. “How are you feeling?” She would ask if the purple daemon was awake. |
