He was supposed to just sleep as long as he could so he could get better faster. Being a lycan meant he healed faster but there were so many wounds that all needed healing that not even his race could save him from at least another week in a hospital bed. He heard his cousin’s calling and slowly woke up just to have to adjust to the ceiling light again. It took a couple of minutes and when he came to his senses he looked at his cousin with a sour expression, not having noticed him holding Zaira’s hand.

He followed his gaze down to the hand, to then realize as Romeo touched her. The way he kissed her hand, pulled her closer and all he could do was watch. The heart rate on the monitor went up, showing that he was indeed watching and getting affected by what he was seeing. “Stop touching her…” he mumbled, tensing his hand a little. He had more strength today but in no shape to be throwing hands at all. The warning glare reminded him of the consequences either way.
“Stop…” he mumbled, moving a little in the bed but he was hooked up on so many different wires and tubes that he couldnt just go. He felt so damn powerless and there was nothing he could do unless he wanted things to get worse for them. It was his worst nightmare, that Zaira would finally get caught up in the mess.

Hadnt he been sedated as much as he was then he would have jumped him and fought him even if it had reopened his wounds, reversed any attempt to heal if it meant saving Zaira from this. But he could barely push himself up to sit, one of the downsides when he had ribs broken on both sides, front and back. She tried to slap him and Kurtis looked at her with sad eyes, not knowing what to do or say. His hand grasped around his blanket and he could feel the sore bones ache under the bandages.
“Leave her out of this..” the lycan begged at this point, feeling so frustrated that his eyes started to sting. What order was he talking about? Kurtis didnt understand. Then he realized something, lifting his hand to grab at the red rope that would alert the staff. But he had to stretch himself and that proved harder than anything.

This got more and more fucked by the second and Kurtis should have just stretched the last few centimeters regardless of what that would have meant for his injuries. Seeing Zaira so scared and Romeo just enjoying it made him feel so sick. Sure, he hadnt been much better to the girls he used to be with, but he never did something as wicked as this. And Zaira he loved.
The duvet was moved and he felt Zaira’s face between his legs, though that hurt quite a lot and even worse was when Romeo began touching her. Kurtis had always been quite the jealous kind, never wanting to see what he loved being touched by someone else. And yet it was happening here before his eyes. He grit his teeth as Romeo grabbed his hand and got to feel up Zaira too. He wasnt lying but Kurtis couldnt believe she was enjoying this when he felt how scared she really was. “No… dont fucking touch her.” He mumbled, the heart monitor going crazy at this point. He was clearly stressing out and the head trauma wasnt helping. He closed his eyes and wished it would just stop. “Stop this Romeo. It’s not just some game.” He said, using his free hand to carefully place on Zaira’s head, because he had no other power to do anything. Would she hate him? For not being able to save her?

She pleaded but he didnt know what to say. He didnt take his eyes off of her, he didnt want to see what Romeo was doing to her. If all he could do was hold her head and hope that she wouldnt hate him, then so be it. But it didnt make him hate himself less for being so useless. He stopped and Kurtis looked at his hand too, gritting his teeth even if that hurt his fractured cheek with a soaring pain. Then Romeo rubbed his wet fingers over the lycan’s face and he tried to resist but couldnt move away. “I’ll fucking kill you.” He promised in a strained voice, feeling so tired and beat, his head pounding and his heart racing. He felt like he could pass out. Once he was gone, Kurtis dried his face off with his arm and looked at Zaira. “I’m so sorry…” he mumbled, feeling his eyes well up.

She told him it wasnt his fault but how could it not be? It was his family. His fault she was assaulted by his cousin and he just sat there and watched. He couldnt look at her, feeling a few tears roll down his cheeks. “I cant sleep now.” He said as he shook his head. She kissed his forehead and he closed his eyes, drawing in a few shaky breaths. “Get me out of this hospital.” He said, reaching up as he grabbed onto her shirt, just holding onto it and nothing else. “Please.” He whispered, looking at her with hurting eyes.

“No I dont fucking need them.” He argued, but he was also desperate to get out. A week more seemed like a week more in hell and he thought they had suffered enough as it was. She had been through worse? Well it didnt change that he didnt want her to go through this specifically his cousin doing the worst shit to her. She kissed him and he kissed her back before he pulled her closer. His head did feel like someone had split it open at this point but he feared waking up again to see Romeo do the worst. Alexis entered and cleared her throat. “The doctors said he shouldnt be sitting up.” She said as means to seperate them but Kurtis held on.

She got into bed with him and it was kind of fine because she wasnt putting pressure on his ribs nor was his arm getting strained. He just listened to her heart and touched her skin carefully on her hands or arm. “Stay the night.” He mumbled, looking up at her. After what had happened he felt so reluctant to just let her go. It was like letting her right back into Romeo’s arms once more and he didnt want that.

He was walking his dog, packed up pretty well as it wasnt exactly warm outside anymore. It was weird how fast it had seemed to change. His phone rang and he picked up, watching his dog run around as he listened to the greeting. “Hey, I’m just out with the dog.” He said, the question making him hum as he thought about it. “Well there would have been that party tonight but Kurtis is still in the hospital and I didnt feel like going anyway.” He said with a shrug. Then he made a suggestion that made the nephilin smile. “Yeah sure. Are you hungry?”

He hummed at the reply, and figured he would just eat something quick when he got home. “Yeah, I’ll ask them.” He said. It had pretty much gotten to a point where they didnt mind if he went over to Damiano’s, at least he didnt have to bring up a reason every time. The notion that he had a present made Jeremy wrinkle his nose. “I havent gotten you anything…” he mumbled, but that was beside the point. They agreed on when to meet and Jeremy finished the walk with his dog, talking to the hybrid on the phone for as long as he wanted.
When he had gotten home he changed into something more not just sweatpants and a hoodie that otherwise was his go-to. He wore a more tight-fitting shirt to show off his muscles and some jeans. He didnt really like the feeling of then so he changed again into regular pants that would allow him to sit down. Then he grabbed his jacket and went on his way to Damiano’s place.

He kind of just thought it would be just a regular night but when Damiano opened and seemed to have dolled himself up, it made Jeremy smile. He liked how unique the hybrid could be with his style and the makeup he wore. The greeting made him chuckle but he felt only a tad nervous, mostly because he wasnt good at date dates. “Glad to be home.” He said, following as his hand was taken and guided inside. He looked around, taking in how cozy it all looked before Damiano’s murmur sent sweet shivers down his spine. He let him take his jacket, turning around as he looked at him. “You look good too. Dont think that I havent noticed.” He said with a smile.
