He listened to the hybrid, frowning a little as he could understand where he was coming from. Kurtis wouldnt say that he was much better for Zaira, especially not after breaking her heart. He took her hand and held it, gently rubbing his thumb up and down the back of her hand. “I’m not going to assume what happened, but Jeremy obviously cares about you a lot more than whatever happened between you two.” He said, though he was wondering what could have gone so wrong to make Damiano look this pained. “What changed from when you first met him at that party to now?” He asked, frowning a little.

“In the groundworks, no. I wouldnt say that has changed much. We’ve just gotten to know each other better and better.” He said, as that was how he felt about it. Sure he wasnt the same asshole that had been quite hostile and hissing at her but that was mostly because he had wanted to keep her away. He thought about the hybrid’s words for a second, before he sighed. “I dunno. I just dont buy into this whole I’m a monster and cant do anything about it. It’s not like I’m the greatest person either but I’m not just throwing in the towel and claiming to not be in control.” He said with a small frown. Maybe a little harsh for a guy in healing but he wasnt going to sit and feed into this self pity. He wouldnt even want that for himself.

Her argument may have been on point, but Kurtis felt like he had every right to be a little paranoid. But she looked at him and smiled and that made him think that maybe it wasnt worth getting upset over now. “Okay, apartments.” He said with a nod, giving her hand a soft squeeze before they headed towards central. That was where he wanted to be, mostly because it was so close to everything. But he realized he hadnt even asked her what she wanted. “Is there a district you prefer over central?” He asked, looking to her.

It was good to know that they were on the same page. She got them a cab and he wrapped his arm around her to sit more comfortably. “No not really. I just wanted whatever that was available, no matter where.” He explained, rubbing her side gently with his hand. He leaned down to look at her phone too, resting his head close to hers. “A living room and a bedroom would be what we should look for. Though I wouldnt care if it was some rundown one room apartment with rats and mold.” He chuckled.

“Live life a little dangerously Rojas.” He teased her before she clicked in on an apartment. He hummed and nodded, looking at the pictures quite curiously. “I want a place where we can have the bed by the window. So we can look at the stars.” He said, smiling a little as that was something they had done often. Watched the stars in silence as they were all tangled up in each others arms.
He had liked all the apartments except one where one door had been quite small. He could only imagine the day it would catch him slipping and he’d knock his head against the frame at the top. The last apartment was the most promising. “Yeah, me too.” He whispered back, grabbing her hand as he pulled her with him into the living room. “We’d have some old ass couch over there for lazy days, of course big enough for us to cuddle, old enough that there would be an imprint of two lazy teenagers by the first week. The TV would be over there, running most days but we’d never watch because it’s all dull shit. Over there by the window there’d be a desk and next to it a bookshelves for all your nerdy books.” He explained, holding her close from behind, turning her with his whole body as he was already imagining how the place would look.

“Yeah, I’m very grateful for the balcony.” He agreed. He obviously wouldnt smoke inside, well if he had been living on his own probably yes. But he would spare her from all the second hand smoke. The landlord entered and Kurtis looked to Zaira as she spoke for them. He just smiled at her and nodded before looking at the landlord. The landlord nodded before looking through a few papers, explaining that them being underage meant that there had to be consent from both of their parents before arrangements could be made.

Seeing Zaira so filled with joy only made him so certain that they were doing the right thing. He wasnt exactly as bubbly and outwards in his own overjoy but he definitely smiled. “Yeah, let’s do that. And then we’ll scout for furniture one of these days.” He said, holding her close, kissing the top of her head.

He picked up, listening before he drew in a deep breath. “Yeah, sure, where?” He asked. He felt nervous, biting his thumb as he noted down when and where. He kept the call short as his parents were definitely home and he didnt want to risk them listening in. Getting up he dressed rather casually, still feeling sore but he told himself he could walk it off. He went when it was time and arrived at the location on time, as Jeremy was always on time.

He spotted him at one of the benches, chuckling a little as he recognized the place quite well. And remembering how they had met after the party. “Hey.” He said with a small smile, looking twards the pond. “Did we ever come back here after the sandwich thief made us talk?” He asked because he wasnt quite sure. So much had happened since then, a whole rollercoaster of everything.

“Shame. It was the start of something good.” He remarked, glancing towards the hybrid. He was still so confused about what had happened yesterday and somehow he was too afraid to just dig into it, in case it was too much for the hybrid. Humming as Damiano said he would come here when he felt bad, the nephilim nodded. “I see. It’s a good spot.”
He let him walk closer and hold his hand, frowning at the mutter. “Well I cant really do much about it. But it definitely didnt help that you just left.” He said, trying not to sound judgemental as it only had made him sad. He lifted a hand and scratched the back of his neck. “Yeah, that stung the most.” He mumbled, looking down.

“Why would I want you gone? You’re all I’ve wanted all my life?” He asked but then Damiano went to speak of what they had done. Frankly he could have told him anything, said it was meant to be like that and Jeremy would have believed that. So he looked down with a frown, listening as Damiano made it clear that it should have been way different than it ended out being.
He felt the hand touch his lip looking up at the hybrid, but he could never look at him with hate in his eyes. No matter how shit he could treat him, Jeremy would never hate him. “Stop running away from me.  It hurts more when you just go and leave me with not knowing anything. I didnt know that it wasnt supposed to be like that, so how was I supposed to tell you to stop?” He asked, reaching up to grab the hybrid’s hand, like not doing that would make him run away again. And that made Jeremy feel scared. Scared of being abandoned again.
