@Gerard <3 Place: Western district He had seen him a fair few times around this bar. At first he hadnt thought much of it, thinking it was just something he noticed when he was feeling bored and lately everything seemed boring. Loralei had left to do... well whatever she wanted to do, there was nothing new in her sudden disappearance. But it did leave Eden feeling a little clueless and mostly bored; And he hated being bored. But this curly haired seraph seemed to take his attention for at least a small moment of the day, when he passed him and went on with his night. Soon Eden found himself looking for him, and then he noticed how every night was a new guy. Sometimes the same but not all the time. It was intriguing in a way, though he could tell that the curly haired beauty was far younger than the men he seemed to hang out with. So Eden decided to mingle one day, seeing that he knew one of the men in the circle. “Mr. Bernard,” he greeted one of the elders, who looked at hin with a polite smile and nodded. “Eden. I was actually just telling everyone about one of your investments and how well it is doing,” he said, making Eden smile and nod in a humble manner. He shortly glanced at the nephilim with a gentle smile before he was offered a seat among them. He sat down, back straight and posture on point, but he made it seem so easy if not elegant. “I’m not exactly fond of sharing my secrets... But I will let you know that...” and then he went on to tell them just how he had sealed the deal for the stocks he had secured, but he always found a way to look at the young guy in a way that just made it seem natural, even though he was clearly trying to get his attention.

Another night, another man, it seemed like this was going well. He hadn't done it for a long time, but he seemed popular enough to get by. Most of his clients seemed to prefer this bar, perhaps because it was rather private and intimate. The conversation at the table was as always a little boring, but Gerard tried keeping up with the conversation. Not that they'd ever ask for his opinion. He was dressed rather nicely, mostly thanks to the gifts he had gotten from his clients. Then someone seemed to speak to Mr. Bernard, although the man preferred that Gerard called him simply by his first name: William. William was a stockbroker, a good one at that, and it was perhaps why he was one of Gerard's best customers. The man joining them at the table was handsome, surprisingly so, but then again Gerard's knowledge of vampyres were very miniscule. He knew most of what he knew from Xalvador, but even that was limited. However he couldn't help but notice how he looked at him, it was subtle clearly not being noticed by the other men at the table, but it was clear enough that he noticed. "Gerard, my dear, go treat yourself to another drink," one of William's men said, knowing that the conversation was too boring for the young man, and the last thing he wanted to do was make his company sleepy. Nodding Gerard got up from his seat, excusing himself with a rather polite voice, giving William's shoulder a light squeeze to let him know he went to the bar. At the bar he leaned against the disk, looking at the different options on the board of drinks, tapping lightly on the desk to the melody playing in the background.

It was obvious that he wanted the seraph to notice him and his glances, but he had to keep it subtle. It wasnt seen upon lightly to steal another man’s company, it was almost the equivalent of stealing a lover. One of the men spoke to the curly haired beauty and Eden cursed silently in his mind as he watched him leave. The polite excuse gave away the french accent and Eden found himself wondering where that had come from. In fact he soon realized that he wanted to know everything about the seraph that had just left the table. His phone started ringing rather conviniently and he excused himself as he got up to answer it. He got up and went towards the exit, speaking loudly enough to let the seraph hear him leave as he passed the bar. Outside was just quiet enough for the phone call, he popped a cigarette in his mouth, talking calmly with the person on the other line, some contact in a foreign time-zone to warn him about losing certain stocks. All due to some economical changes in the country she was staying in right now; the boring stuff. Eden let her speak most of the time, silently smoking his cigarette as he felt the cold winter air against his face, even though he was cold, he wasnt this cold.

Playing a bit with a napkin, he was unsure still of what to order, mostly because it seemed like there always was an upside to drinking at these events. Mostly because he didn't enjoy leaving the place with the client. Some were fine, they only wanted his company, but others felt like they deserved more of him and his body. He heard the vampyre as he walked by, his eyes following him as he went outside. Gerard looked back at the table, but the men seemed to preoccupied with telling stories, so he decided to follow the vampyre. Maybe it was a bad idea, but he could just excuse it with needing a smoke. Outside the air hit his face and he stuck his hands in his pockets as to keep them warm. Looking around it didn't take long for him to spot the vampyre, but he wanted to keep it casual so he got out his small packet of cigarettes, placing one between his lips as he realized he had dropped his lighter somewhere - or maybe just forgotten it at home. Breathing out in a sigh, he walked over to the vampyre, not wanting to disturb him, but gesturing for a light. "Merci," he said once his cigarette was lit, inhaling it silently as he turned his eyes out on the streets. It wouldn't be long before Halloween would fill the city with decorations, and it made him smile a bit. Him and Xalvador were on their own for the first time, and this would be their first holiday outside of the orphanage and they had agreed on watching movies for the whole weekend.

He had heard someone come outside, but he hadnt known it was the seraph just yet. He was still listening to the woman, though it felt like the more she spoke, the more she was quelching his chances of actually getting to talk to the guy whose attention he was desperate to grab. He noticed him in the corner of his eye as he approached, looking at him as he made a gesture. He pulled out his lighter and lit the cigarette, sending him a gentle smile before he shortly turned his attention to the phone. He asked the woman if she wouldnt rather send him the report so he could look at it in the morning and she agreed to it. He hung up and exhaled the cigarette smoke he had held in for quite a while now, looking at the seraph. “Your accent is very pleasing to the ears,” he said in a not so subtle way to compliment him before he drew a small drag off his cigarette. “Is that why they all seem to agree on sharing you?” He asked rather upfront, looking at him with curious eyes. It wasnt often that escorts seemed to have such a big clientele as the seraph seemed to have.

Inhaling as the cigarette was lit, he felt relaxed as the nicotine entered his lungs. He just stood by, just looking at the people passing by, not really saying anything. In these parts of the city, one rarely struck up a conversation just casually. Often it was to gain something, or to win someone over, so staying silent always seemed to be the best option. However as the vampyre spoke, the nephilim couldn't help but chuckle lightly, especially at the blunt question. "I think they like me more for my looks than my voice," he remarked, shrugging lightly as it didn't matter. He needed food, and money to buy both that and blood for Xalvador was scarce, especially when they also needed to pay for a roof over their heads. "However I can carry a conversation, if that is what my client prefer," he said, inhaling from the bud of his cigarette. Maybe it was stupid wasting money on cigarettes, but a packet of smokes could keep the hunger away longer than one might think. "I didn't mean to disturb your phone call - I take it that a man like you has a lot to care for," he said calmly.

The remark made him scoff but more in a way like he found it a little funny. “Is something wrong with liking both?” He asked, with his head slightly tilted to the side. It was true that there was some beauty to the seraph but he could tell now that he wasnt a pureblood. There was something else, that seemed to make him a little different from the otherwise angelic species. “Somehow I doubt you’d know much about stocks and market value. But do enlighten me with something you do know,” he winked charmingly, a confident crooked smile on his lips, his own accent quite scandinavian but not exactly rooted in anything specific. He knew he was being ballsy but it wasnt going to stop him now. He shrugged at the apology, looking ahead as he made a deep sigh. “It’s all so dull to me. You eventually become so good at something that it all becomes rather... automated,” he explained, glancing towards the other man before shaking his head and hand at him. “I’d rather hear about you and your so called conversational skills with that beautiful accent,” he chuckled, though he wasnt really trying to shy from the fact that he found him alluring.

"There you are right, I know nothing of such endeavors," he chuckled, shaking his head slightly. The vampyre's charm was hard to ignore, but the cooling air around them seemed to remind him not to drift off in to some fairytale. Gerard had been in this world long enough to know that cruelty could lure just beneath the surface. However there was something about the accent, something that made him want to give in, if just a tiny bit. Frowning slightly at the notion of repetitiveness, he shook his head. "I think once something becomes automated, you ought to reinvent yourself, non?" he asked with a gentle smile gracing his lips. He had had to do that himself so many times in his short lifetime that it felt like a ritual at this point. He then seemed to want to change the subject, which Gerard didn't mind - as long as his client didn't notice him being gone for too long, it would be fine. The way he was flirting made the nephilim smile. He was feeling a little surprised, but he also knew not to toss his emotions at a guy who knew his profession. "Well one must always get to know whom they are talking to first ... But secrecy is so often preferred in these parts of town," he said, inhaling from his cigarette. He was only giving himself enough time to finish the smoke before he needed to head back in. "However perhaps we should speak about your reinvention? If you find your work dull, why not change to something you find passion in?"

The question about reinventition made the vampyre narrow his eyes a little as he looked at the seraph. So not only was he good looking, he was also smart? Eden noted that down in his mind as he shrugged as his answer. “You’d find that it’s rather difficult to reinvent yourself when you have a profession such as mine,” he remarked. He’d rather talk about something else than himself, but it seemed that the seraph wanted to know more before he would start giving. Eden liked that a lot. “Oh I know about the importance of secrets. Which is why I wont just open up like a book and hand you all my secrets now. But you are free to ask whatever you’d like to know,” he said, though he doubted that the young man had much interest in all the secrets, especially because essentially they were all just boring. He kept track of how long they had left by the way his cigarette was burning down. His question made him shrug. “I dont care about work. Work is work. I’d rather care about my personal life. Who I see... who I dont see. Who I want to see.” He listed so casually, the last one making him smile as he scoffed at himself. He was really bad at hiding his intentions wasnt he? “Though the last thing I’d want is to be shunned by my peers and robbed of my integrity,” he remarked, a gentle smile on his lips. “It just wouldnt be a lie to say that I do find you.... interesting,” he said, carefully moving a little closer to the other man, lifing his hands to correct a fold on his collar, gentle to the touch. He chuckled and stepped back. “Your cigarette is burned out,” he said, looking down at the seraph’s hand.

"And who would you like to see?" he asked, a raised eyebrow, a small hint of color in his cheeks, but it wasn't clear if it was the cold air or the things the vampyre spoke of. Was it strange to feel drawn by him, yet knowing that being a part of that world would never befall such a simple boy like himself? The admittance made him look a little surprised, but he was trying to keep calm as he moved closer, adjusting his clothes. He had forgotten all about his cigaret, and now it was burnt and wasted - or was it? It had bought him some time with this new stranger, and the mention of the bud still burning in his hand made him sigh, dropping it on the ground and stomping out the last of the smallest embers. "I'll have to return to my client, but I hope to see you soon," he said, his tone lingering, but he moved inside once more. Luckily William had barely noticed his absence, and sitting down at the table he just sat and smiled like he usually did. However this time there was a bit of wonder in his eyes. The vampyre had been weirdly entertaining, but he knew that whatever was going on had simply been nods to flirting and the attraction they had felt. Or at least that Gerard had felt.

“Would you like the simple answer or find out yourself?” He asked with a soft inviting smile, though he knew he could do nothing about it now. The colour in his cheeks only made him that more beautiful in Eden’s eyes, because a part of him loved anything that was remotely human. Warmth, life, everything that wasnt dead and cold like himself. The adjustment of the other man’s clothes was a risky move but Eden did like the dynamic that sprung from it, because there was something forbidden about a gesture like that. He watched him drop the burning bud and stomp it to kill the fire. He didnt really want to let him go but he had to. “You might,” he said in a teasing tone but he would be paining himself if he didnt seek out the seraph at the first chance he could get. He watched him leave and took a moment to light another cigarette, he couldnt just walk in right behind him and strike up any sort of suspicion. He pulled out his phone and checked the message he had gotten from the caller, smoking half a cigarette before he finally decided to make his return to the table. “Sorry about that. Turns out that not all stocks can change in a manner of seconds,” he chuckled humbly, before he listened in on the conversation the others were having. Still his eyes found ways to look at the seraph, though it was clear that he still just wanted to keep it subtle. Eventually as he predicted, talking about work would start to bore him, in an attempt to make things more interesting, he looked at Gerard and narrowed his eyes a little. “So what do you think....?” He asked, clearly fishing for a name that the others seemed to provide. “... Mr. Castell. Do you think I should pull my stocks from a country in decline or wait it out and see what would happen?” He asked, if anyone seemed to look at him weirdly, he just gave them a warning gaze, clearly wanting to hear the opinion of someone who didnt have all the knowledge of the market. This was also a way for him to show the others that the seraph wasnt just good looks, given that he would answer of course.

Gerard watched as the vampyre returned. He had caught on to the name Eden, but it sounded almost too good to be true, however the others seemed to frequently used the name. He was sipping on a glass of fine wine, not that he cared much for the type, but that was when the vampyre drew him in to the conversation. A soft chuckle left his lips as he shook his head, however the man seemed persistent. Taking a deep breath and placing his glass on the table he turned a little in his seat, looking directly at the vampyre. "Well it depends, doesn't it?" he said with a polite smile, edging a bit on charming, but he wasn't willing to go so far for a stranger and lose his paying client like that. "Does the country have a history of a rapid fluctuating stock-market, or has there been some sort of crash, if you will?" he asked, but of course it was irrelevant. He could feel the other men suddenly look to him, rather surprised that the young man could even form such a sentence. "However you are asking a philosopher about the worth of money," he chuckled, looking down as he shook his head, his eyes moving back up to look at Eden. "And in my experience - not with stocks mind you, but with life - having patience is the best option; Without patience, you might lose a chance at something even greater," he said.

He didnt know if he had expected an answer or having Gerard pretend as if he knew nothing. If he had spent quite some time with these men, surely he must know just a little bit, at least enough to surprise. And then he spoke and Eden’s smile widened as he couldnt help but find it rather intriguing. He kept his calm, but he was definitely excited to hear the seraph’s thoughts. “You’ve made a good point,” he remarked, seemingly not as surprised as the other men. If anything he found it a shame that they hadnt cared to figure out themselves. He nodded in approval at the advice he got, leaning back into his chair before he chuckled and rubbed his nosebridge. “How much are these dust-collectors paying you?” He suddenly asked, smiling at whoever that seemed to take most offense to his words. It didnt really matter if Gerard chose to reveal the price or not. Eden had made up his mind. “Whatever they’re paying, I’ll do double. I doubt they’re paying your actual worth anyway,” he added, looking around for a second before he chuckled and got up. Maybe he didnt really care that much about his peers as he had claimed to. “Consider my offer Mr. Castell. Whenever you’re bored of being forced to sit around and just look pretty,” he said, looking at Gerard with daring eyes that told him to take a chance. He straightened his jacket and nodded at the men. “Gentlemen,” he said rather seriously but there was a mockery to his mere presence at this point. He went for the door, pulling out his phone to call for a car.

Gerard didn't know what he expected as a response, but praise was far from it. He had honestly thought that Eden might want to mock him, take him down a notch and make him lose some of the confidence he gained from their stares. However then he said something that was much more taboo than a philosopher speaking of money making and that was the fact that Gerard in fact was for sale in some capacity. He felt stunned, remaining silent as he was not willing to say out loud how poorly he was actually paid. Yet it didn't seem to face the vampyre as he offered to pay much more than the men at the table, and it surprised him a bit. He had seemed so humble outside, and now it was like he was boasting - yet somehow it drew the nephilim in, wishing he knew more. He didn't really know what to say as the man left, but it seemed like his body moved on it's own, getting on his feet. Mr. Bernard grabbed him by his wrist, reminding him that he was not paying the nephilim to leave him every chance he got. "Well I do not want your money," he replied harshly, moving his wrist free before following the vampyre. His heart was beating in his chest as he reached him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Did you mean that?" he asked.

Even if he hadnt convinced the seraph tonight, he just told himself that he wouldnt give up that easily. The other men could be as offended as they wanted, it didnt bother Eden. He would insult them again for being so blind to seek out the seraph’s words over his looks. He stood outside, placing his hands in his pockets as he thought of going back in there, convince the beautiful curly haired man to come with him, but it seemed that his efforts had worked after all. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned his head to look at Gerard with a bit of a surprised expression, though he was only pleasantly surprised. A charming smile spread on his lips as he looked him up and down. “We can discuss a more suitable price that you’d find satisfying,” he remarked, moving his eyes back up to the brown ones. “I promise you that whatever scraps they gave you, wont be happening with me,” he explained before he made a deep sigh. There of course was one catch. “I’ll keep you financially stable and more.... If. You drop your whole clientele and take only my money and company,” he said, thinking it didnt sound exactly unfair.

"No, I meant, do you really meant that I had a good point?" he asked. Of course he was interested in the money as well, what poor orphan wasn't, but he had never been praised like that. It had always been a roll of the eyes and a here we go again sort of reaction he got. He didn't mind the wandering eyes that lingered on him, he was used to it at this point, sending him a smile as he looked in to those green blue eyes. Gerard felt a but coming, however the vampyre's demands were rather surprising. "How about a trial period first? A month where I'll drop all my clients for you and if you still want me to stick around, we can make it so?" he concluded. If the money really was as good as Eden promised, then he would have more than enough to support Xalvador anyways. He looked down, frowning as he didn't really know how to say this, but he just needed to get it out there if they would spend more time together. "I have a brother that I look after ... I can't stay over for too many nights in a row, so I hope if we could find a solution to that also," he said, feeling stupid for even mentioning it. Most rich fellas didn't care about a sad sob story, but he was not leaving his brother behind in the dust. "He's the only family I have," he added.

“Of course I meant it. Why would I lie?” He asked calmly with a snile, but now that he had thought that they were discussing price anyway, he laid out his hot take. He raised his eyebrow at the mention of a trial period. “A trial period doesnt really sound beneficial for you. Dropping your clientele, even for a week could mean you’d lost them forever,” he pointed out, seemingly a little worried about what the seraph would do then. No if they had to do this, it couldnt just stop. Hearing about a brother didnt seem to bother Eden too much, but he wasnt as obsessed as he would be in the future just yet, so he thought it wouldnt be much of a problem. “Of course. I wont stand in the way of you taking care of your brother. I’m just a little surprised that you’re talking about staying over already,” he chuckled but he liked it. He was quite attracted to him so he wouldnt be able to say what could happen in a heated moment. And now, he was thinking about those heated moments. He sighed deeply and grabbed the half burned cigarette he had smoked earlier. He popped it his his mouth and offered Gerard one if he wanted, lighting it too if he took one. “Do you want to come with me home?” He asked, puffing a little on the cigarette, feeling the smoke wander down into his lungs. “Dont get all nervous. I’m not going to just fuck you at the first chance I get. You’d find out that I can actually be quite a passionate man, and I’d care about your wants and needs more” he added with a rather truthful tone, exhaling the smoke into the air.

"People lie," he replied with a small shrug. He wasn't accusing Eden of doing that, but he didn't want to get his hopes up for nothing. Smiling softly at the mention of his clients he shook his head. It was normal for him to drop out for a week, mostly to ground himself and spend time with Xalvador, but he understood where Eden was coming from. However the notion on simply relying on the vampyre's money was a little scary, so he would have to find something he could work on while he was with him. He felt his cheeks burn bright red as Eden pointed out his forwardness, looking down as he might've overstepped. "I'd just rather be on the same page than risk getting hurt, I guess," he said a little weakly. He had felt the hands of a few former clients before and he was not eager to feel the brute strength of a vampyre. He declined the cigarette with a small shake of his head, sending him a small smile. It felt like now that there were no inhibitions, the vampyre spoke freely, and the question that came up made him nervous, and it could easily be seen. "I promised my brother I wouldn't stay out too late, so I best be heading home," and empty handed. He sighed to himself as he thought that the hybrid might be starving when he got back. "How about we see each other the day after tomorrow?" he suggested with a small smile, mostly because he would be worn out tomorrow if Xalvador was hungry enough.

“That makes you smart. You shouldnt just be trusting me because I say a lot of things that could sound very nice. It’s only fair that we go about this the way you’d want,” he said, shrugging a little as it wasnt that big of a deal to him. Well it would be if Gerard decided that they shouldnt see each other. He did notice the change in the seraph, making him wonder if he had said something wrong. Sure maybe he was quite forward, but he thought the only way from here had to be formed from honesty. “Alright fine. The day after tomorrow it is,” he said with a nod. His car arrived and he extinguished his cigarette before he looked at Gerard once again. “I can give you a ride home? Or closer to your home if you’re scared to show me where you live?” He suggested, letting the seraph decide before he either got in alone or with the other man joining him.

It felt reassuring that the vampyre seemed to agree with being cautious. The world was big and scary, even for a seraph it seemed. They seemed to agree on their next meeting, and Gerard felt a smile creep up on his face as he nodded. A car arrived, and by the looks of it it was rather fancy and expensive. The notion of a ride made him frown, shaking his head. "I wouldn't want you to see my place of residence, it's not really pleasing to the eyes," he said a bit shyly. "I'll just walk, it's not too far," he lied. Right now they lived in the slums of Southern.

He nodded at his words but then chuckled a bit. “You’re rather humble for an escort. Are you aware of that?” He said but then shook his head and smiled rather charming. He pulled out a card that wasnt exactly just a business card, but clearly something that had his number on it. He mostly used it to hand to other business-men, but he could make an exception for the seraph. And this way, it might seem that Gerard was the one who could decide how fast he wanted things to go. “Dont be shy to call if you’re bored. Have a good night Mr. Castell,” he wished him before he got into his car and drove off. It felt a little bitter because he had really hoped he could get to know more about the seraph already. He knew patience was key, but there was just something about the other man that he couldnt shake off.

Gerard shrugged a bit at his remark, mostly because he thought it was just the way he was. He had always been described as a very calm boy, although in his childhood he was a bit of a rascal - and perhaps he still was in some way. But this way of living had made him appreciate the little things, like when he and Xalvador could splurge a little and get better food for the both of them. Or when Gerard got a good tip and he brought home a comic for his brother - sure it was bought second hand, but the pages were rarely worn and torn. He took the card, nodding at his words, giving Eden a warm smile for their parting. He stood for a while, watching the car drive off before he headed home. It took him about half an hour to maybe forty-five minutes, not bad, but he was rather cold when he got home. "I'm home!" he yelled, placing his coat on the old rusty hanger, it was already threatening to just crack and fall out the old wall. Right now all they could afford was a single bedroom apartment, but neither of them seemed to mind too badly. "You still got blood left?" Gerard asked, knowing that it was probably getting a little stale at this point, but Xalvador always seemed to insist that he stretched a bag for as long as possible. Opening the fridge he looked inside, sighing to himself as he felt his stomach rumble a bit. It wasn't too bad, but it would be in the morning.

Sure running off two years before he would get the mandatory release probably wasnt the best idea, but there was no way he’d let Gerard wander off into this big world all on his own. Blood bags were scarce and sometimes he’d have to hunt for rats in alleys just to get whatever blood he could. It was hard to be a runaway, and sometimes he wondered if he had made the right choice? Having to feed off his brother wasnt ideal, and he hated it everytime. So saving up bloodbags, living off the bare minimum of every day was just how things had to be. He was laying on the dirty matress they had, reading through an old comic as Gerard’s voice made him look up. A smile spread on his face as he pushed himself up to sit. Obviously being only 16, he wasnt quite grown or muscular, in fact he was more malnourished and fragile looking. The question made him sigh as he laid back down and grabbed his comic book to resume where he had left off. “Yeah, some,” he said but in reality it was not really enough. But was it ever? “How was your night?” He asked, though he didnt exactly like what Gerard was doing, mostly because he found it dangerous.

Gerard sighed at the reply, sitting down on his own mattress. "Xal, you gotta eat," he said, buttoning his cuff open and rolling up his sleeve. "I've got no appointments tomorrow - come on and eat," he said. Gerard was always gentle with the hybrid. He knew he had a hard time accepting what he was at times, but it didn't matter to the nephilim. Hadn't it been for some ancient rules he would've been in the same boat as him. He sat on the mattress until he joined him. "I know you don't like this, but it's better than risking you start feeding from the public," he reminded him. If he would bite in, Gerard would tell the sad story of lost revenue for the evening, but that perhaps the times were about to change for them. "I can just feel it ... I think it will be a new start for us," he said, closing his eyes as the teeth in his skin was burning a little. However showing pain would make Xalvador stop in a second, and he needed some strength.

He frowned at Gerard's words, looking at the nephilim with a dreadful look in his eyes. He hated whenever he was offering up his blood because the last thing Xalvador wanted was to feel like a burden. "Carajooooo.... I really hate having to do this," he mumbled, getting up as he sighed deeply and looked at the exposed skin on Gerard's arm. He couldnt deny how his stomach seemed to rumble as he just looked at the veins under his skin, knowing how delicious seraph blood could be; Even the mixed kind. But Gerard was right, it was far better than starving to the point where he would be a danger to people around him. He grabbed his arm and leaned down to bite, piercing the skin easily, but also carefully to only make small punctures in the skin. He listened as the nephilim told his story, closing his eyes as he had to focus on not getting greedy. A starved vampyre was dangerous to anyone who was a blood source, so he couldnt just lose his mind. He frowned a little surprised as Gerard mentioned a new start, looking up as he wanted him to elaborate but mostly because he also worried what that entailed.
